Thanks to PBS, we have this Met broadcast from March 2022. Sets and costumes are pretty much identical to those from 2003, a production I enjoyed very much. Isabel Leonard is the stand-out performer here; her singing and acting is on a high level. Wolfgang Brendel is the major-domo here, as he was in the earlier production and he's wonderfully funny. Brandon Jovanovich is not the ideal Bacchus for me; perhaps Matthew Polenzani would have been better. Lise Davidsen's Ariadne fulfils the promise of her Young Artist of the year award of 2018; she's always musical even if less exciting than some other sopranos.
