Maybe it's just because I recently watched some episodes of The Rookie, where they show the exact same plot, and I remember Kill Bill very well, but I definitely think that the story of a young female prey stashed in a coffin and retrievable only by her kidnapper has been done a billion times before. It's not thrilling, it just shows a total lack of imagination which is what the entertainment industry is increasingly about.
It doesn't help that the titular Bosch, once upon a time an ace cop, is shown as a whiny, annoying middle-aged guy who mostly gets in the way of detective work. In fact, showing again Bosch's old colleagues makes one feel nostalgic for the "real" show that de-evolved into this second-rate series, without proper investigative interest, without Bosch's amazing house (worth watching the show by itself) but most of all without the ensemble cast that made the original show so good.
This is a cheap production, Bosch lives in a dump and even mega-rich Chandler for obscure reasons moved from her luxurious mansion to modest dwellings. Of course, Maddie will be found unharmed, (not a spoiler, I don't know because I still have to watch the second episode but it's easy to guess), because this Legacy show was mostly about her pouting, boring adventures and I have the bad feeling the rest will be more of the same.
