Britanny, 17th century. the count of Kermellec and his steward disapprove of their spoiled daughter Agnes viz. indomitable son Yann growing up as friends turning into lovers, however hard the 'upstart' is caned, so they enlist him in the French royal army. rather then flee with Agnes and spoil her future, Yann embarks for America. Ten years later, he returns as royal privateer, but finds her married to a nobleman and gets falsely blamed for the murder of her father during his incessant search for his coastal castle's treasure.
