Sex & Nudity

  • A man is showed naked but covering his genitals with his hands
  • Two women are very briefly seen topless, and a borderline crude remark is made about them.
  • A couple kiss and embrace several times, and it is implied that they have had sex.

Violence & Gore

  • All the violence is in a very surreal context:
  • A man trims off his own eyelids with scissors, which are briefly shown in the sink, and a thin stream of blood is briefly shown. It is played as if it is part of his normal grooming routine.
  • An ice skater falls and dies on a skating rink. Many other skaters die in the ensuing pileup and are swept off the rink. Some blood shown.
  • A woman's torso becomes transparent and a somewhat gory image of a plant growing inside her body is shown.
  • A woman is shown having surgery performed on her by remote controlled surgical instruments while conscious (no blood and appears painless).
  • Two rabbits are shown where the back end of the rabbit has been replaced with tubing, extracting some sort of medicine. A woman shoots one of the rabbits with a shotgun.
  • Several factory workers fall into a grinder, which is shown rapidly grinding up their bodies. Some blood spurting and severed limbs.
  • A man is asked to shoot a rabbit to test a gun. He refuses and someone else tries to do it, but the gun misfires, shooting the first man in the hand. Some blood shown briefly.
  • A man karate-kicks a bird-headed man, whose head falls off.
  • A woman tears the heart out of two people with a mechanical "heart-snatcher". This is shown in some detail, with a lot of blood and the still-beating heart placed on a table. She sets one extracted heart on fire.
  • A man is shot in the head. A small hole appears and a stylised "flower" of blood.
  • Two men beat up two musicians.
  • A shrouded body is tipped out of a coffin.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some light drinking with meals and at social occasions. A mechanical cocktail maker crossed with a piano is shown.
  • A man's addiction to the works of a philosopher is played out like a drug addiction, including ingestion of his works in pill form, which have a euphoric effect.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • During the course of the movie, several dishes made out of animals are shown. Many of them have the animals or parts of the animals still moving. Although it is pictured in a surrealist style, it can be upsetting for some audiences, specially children.
  • The sequence where factory workers fall into the grinder can be really disturbing, especially because they don't get help nor attention from their fellow co-workers, who happen to be a few meters away.
