With both The Hatton Garden Job in UK cinemas now, and We Still Steal the Old Way available on DVD from today, I thought i’d take a look at my favourite Top Five Heist/Crime Caper Movies… In order (for a change) they are:
5) In Security
In Security tells the story of best friends Kevin and Bruce, who are co-owners of a failing home security company in a town with no crime. As a last ditch effort to drum up some business, they start robbing the neighbors to instill fear and create a need for their services but bullets fly when they unwittingly rob the wrong guy – a suburban drug lord with a penchant for kitchen gadgets.
It’s fair to say I love a good goofball crime caper, but In Security however has much more than being just a “crime caper” going for it. For one it stars one of my favourite actors,...

Keep up with the wild and wooly world of indie film acquisitions with our weekly Rundown of everything that’s been picked up around the globe. Check out last week’s Rundown here.
– Kino Lorber has acquired the North American rights to Bill Morrison’s “Dawson City: Frozen Time,” about the true history of a collection of 533 reels of film (representing 372 titles) dating from the 1910s to 1920s, which were lost for over 50 years until being discovered buried in a sub-arctic swimming pool deep in the Yukon Territory. The film tells the unique history of a Canadian gold rush town and how cinema, capitalism and history intersect.
“Dawson City” had its world premiere at the 73rd Venice Film Festival and North American premiere at 2016 New York Film Festival. The film also played at the BFI/London Film Festival and the 2017 Rotterdam International Film Festival, and screened Thursday at the TCM...

It may fall on the “horror lite” side of the fence, but when a film is described as a “sci-fi thriller,” we figure there are probably enough genre elements to entice our readers into checking it out… so here’s word… Continue Reading →

Azealia Banks is not having a good moment: After canceling her U.S. tour for the second time, the rapper is now under investigation for allegedly assaulting a club security guard. TMZ reports that Banks and her crew were partying at Break Room 86 in L.A. late last month when she became unruly and security asked her to leave. Security says she attempted to pull the fire alarm on her way out, and that's when things got wild. In security footage from the club, Banks appears to tamper with the water-pressure valves by the entryway, but when the security guard attempts to pull her away, Banks's crew jumps him. We know that Banks is trolling her way out of a career, but now she might be trolling her way straight to court. You can watch the alleged assault here.

Three new faces have joined the cast of Line of Duty.
Will Mellor (Broadchurch), Arsher Ali (Silent Witness) and Leanne Best (Ripper Street) will star in the third series of Jed Mercurio's acclaimed police drama.
Mellor will play PC Rod Kennedy, Ali will play PC Harinderpal 'Hari' Bains, and Best will appear as Wpc Jackie Brickford.
They will form part of the Armed Response Unit led by Daniel Mays's Sergeant Danny Waldron.
The new series - which is currently filming in Belfast - will see AC-12 called in to investigate Waldron's conduct.
Mercurio said: "Sergeant Danny Waldron appears to run a team of crack firearms officers, but hidden tensions simmer beneath the surface. We're all hugely excited that Will Mellor, Arsher Ali and Leanne Best have agreed to play these pivotal roles."
Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar will all reprise their roles in the new episodes.

Well it’s that time of year again – the one where websites across the globe churn out Top 10 list after top ten list. So why should we be any different?! Yet whilst we may be following the predictable end of year lists, I can guarantee that my list is anything but predictable, featuring films from across the globe: including the Us, Canada, Italy, Australia, New Zealand and even good old Blighty!
This year more than ever there has been film after film that knocked it out of the park for me – which is why my Top 10 list has Two sections: the Top 10 and then the pick of 35(!) more brilliant movies (I would have loved this list to be a Top 45, honestly). So what’s my criteria? Well it has to be a movie I’ve seen this year, one that was released this year, i.e. making its UK debut,...

Three years after ABC unsuccessfully tried to reboot Charlie's Angels, NBC is trying another approach. Awkward alum Annabel Oakes has set up In Security, a half-hour comedy at NBC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. From Sony Pictures Television, In Security centers on four very un-Charlie's Angels female bodyguards/private investigators whose invisibility in society makes their jobs easier — and everything else harder. Photos: Faces of Fall 2014 Oakes, who is currently a writer on USA Network's original comedy Sirens, will pen the script and exec produce alongside Phil Traill (Enlisted) who will direct should the project move to pilot.

Given we’re in the information age, with movies being promoted to death online each and every minute of the day, it’s rare that a film comes along that hasn’t had some sort of “buzz” somewhere on the interwebs. However In Security is one such movie…

As a last ditch effort to drum up some business, they start robbing the neighbors to instill fear and create a need for their services but bullets fly when they unwittingly rob the wrong guy – a suburban drug lord with a penchant for kitchen gadgets.

More than a few recognizable titles in today's MPAA bulletin beginning with a Cannes Film Festival hopeful in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman starring Michael Keaton and Edward Norton. Fox Searchlight will distribute the pic, and I'm sure they're hoping for a good showing in the South of France before they set an official release date on what won't be your typical superhero-esque movie. Next is Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow co-starring Emily Blunt as the sci-fi version of Groundhog Day receives a PG-13 ratings as does Warner Bros.'s Godzilla remake. No surprise on either front. And from mutant monsters to medieval dragons, Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon 2 scored a PG rating as did Radius' food documentary Fed Up. I've included the complete bulletin below. 14 Blades Rated R For violence and bloody images. And So It Goes Rated PG-13 For some sexual references and drug elements. Automata Rated R For violence,...

Good morning!
Sarah Paulson attended the after-party for Trust Me at the Tribeca Film Festival with Amanda Peet and Felicity Huffman.
The next night she was at the screening of Mud.
Also at Tribeca, Evan Rachel Wood for the premiere of A Case of You.
Out Hunger Games producer Nina Jacobson was part of a panel on Women in Film at Cinema Con over the weekend. When she was asked about the Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation and if it was "the best or worst thing" to happen to women, she replied, "Female desire is a very complex subject." Snaps! Nina also accepted the Fandango Fan Choice Award for the movie Hunger Games.
A site called Business2Community has some ideas on how Lgbt consumers can best be reached. I hope Chik-Fil-a is paying attention.
