'Pink Slip' brings to light troubling trends in public education. Written and directed by Karen Bennett, a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, the documentary explores the effects of the annual layoffs to our youngest generation of teachers and exposes the fast approaching teacher shortage due to declining enrollment in teacher preparation programs and retiring baby boomers. Asking the question, 'Who will be left to teach our children?' 'Pink Slip' is aimed at bringing awareness to the community and politicians. The goal of this documentary is to convince lawmakers to provide a stable annual budget for education in the state of California and prevent the loss of a generation of teachers.
