Tries hard but does not deliver
rene-2271 June 2016
One really has to wonder how the producer found the money to make this film.

The sound is awful; one can get about half of what is said, the script is thin, the story is thinner and the entire premise of the film is absurd. The performances are woeful and so, as you can see, its a huge waste of time.

If you are going to do a "real"crime movie it should be about something that is at least possible. Instead we have the non sense story of a delivery that goes bad, everyone gets killed except for the killer who for some reason drives off into the dreary English suburbs. There is no real story, no suspense and frankly as the sound is so poor one gets only half of what is said, and English English is my language.

Truly, who puts up money to make such a sad attempt of a movie?

No one leaves their demons in Iraq

Warning: Spoilers
Cally (Jason Wing) is a criminal boss who is supposed to be getting "a big package" for Ray (Bruce Payne) and Max Ferrino (Sean Cronin) for "50,000 big ones". Cally has an ex-girlfriend who has formed her own group with disgruntle gang members. They intercept "the big package" which sets in motion a lot of "get it back" and vengeance stuff. What is in "the big package" is revealed at an hour and eight minutes into the film, although once we see it, gosh, we already knew what it was.

Outside of the robbery, all the real gritty action takes place off camera. All we get to see is the aftermath and the discussion to go get them. The phrases "action and thriller" used to describe the film are a stretch. It is a crime drama and is oversold as an action thriller in spite of the lone scene where they wore a mask. The acting was decent if you like tough guys talking about a box for an hour.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Avoid it, I promise you'll regret it.

This was like a student film. Don't get me wrong, we all have to learn our trade somewhere but don't subject the public to watching you make your mistakes.

The sound was horrific. I'm sure at some points there is no sound recordist present, just the mic on top of the dodgy Tandy camcorder that has a serious white balance issue. They also failed to employ a focus puller so it drifts in and out dependent of who's in the centre of frame.

I'm sure this could be used as an example of how not to do it at university. The acting isn't the best. Well worth watching the multi story car park chase sequence though. I was laughing out loud as a clapped out old Rover and Clio limped around the corners failing to suggest speeds of more than 9 MPH.

After 57 minutes of viewing I turned my attention to writing this review, my first by the way. Please save your lives and spend 90 min doing something, anything more constructive than watching this.

If you don't look hard enough you will miss it.

As a lover of independent film I purchased this film online with an open mind. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised by the execution of the themes portrayed in this film. On the surface this film appears to be a generic British Gangster film desperate to fit in among the Lock Stocks and Snatch's of the cinematic world. However, under the surface the director has managed to explore the psyche of several broken characters torn between moral code and their own desires. Of course the film isn't without its downfalls but this is a film that has story and emotional content. I have watched it several times now and it gets better on repeated viewings and I'm sure over the next few years it will steadily gain a cult following.
