Good but the writer lost her way in the script.
AJ_McAninch23 July 2022
For me, ep 14 was a deal breaker as well as a heart breaker. However, I stayed with the series, and I'm okay with closure. It's just not the great series it set out to be, nor is the relationship between the main leads fully explored as it should have been. It had the potential to be one of the sweetest and most memorable in K-Drama. But the cast is terrific, director did his best with the script given, plot is complex and interesting, but the writer should stay focused better in the next script. I do recommend the series for SHJ's fine performance throughout multiple demands on her as an actor. She is wonderful.

First half is Gripping and interesting last episodes are weak and predictable.

Warning: Spoilers
Where to start.

When I started this i was so hyped, I loved the start and the premise that was set.

Oh Soo Jae, a Smart and strong lawyer (played by Seo Hyun Jin) carrying a deep wound that never healed waiting for her moment of revenge. She then meet out male lead Hwang In Youp and together they start the journey seeking justice against what have happened to them.

The antagonist is her CEO Choi Tae Goog played by Heo Joon Ho, and his family and circle also former father in law who has been playing her dirty, using her for years and years and committed heinous crimes against our main leads.

All the ingredients for a fantastic revenge story are there but there's something missing.

Episode after episode you keep watching everything happening and you keep waiting for the female lead to have something prepared, if not to attack at least to defend herself but I was left in awe every time the episode finished and she was just left as a victim and being surprised by the facts and revelations as I was.

I mean you have 10 of planning your revenge to take everyone down and you have no plan or evidence whatsoever? They spent 15 episodes attacking her and doing whatever they wanted to her and the rest of her team and only on the very last episode they won but just because of some circumstantial evidence?!? Are you serious??? If not because Ha IL Goo ( secretary of the CEO) and the youngest son of the CEO betrayed him, they would have never won the case, so what's actually her strength??? I was honestly shocked, Both leads were as good as a plant when it came to the final case.

Also some unnecessary things in this drama, the romance bit is useless and cringe to watch for the lack of chemistry. It had more sense for the story to hve given the male lead role to Bae In Hyuk playing Choi Yoon Sang, exploiting the conflict with his family and his pursuit of justice and love for the female lead. But it was made such irrelevant character, what a shame.

The show is good enough to keep you hooked and because you are waiting always for the big reveal and wanting her to show her master plan you will keep watching!

But the reveal never comes and there's no master plan or shocking effect and even though the ending its good and positive with a closure for everyone, I didn't find it satisfactory enough.

I hope they keep making kdramas like this with Strong and independent females leading, just make a better script for the love of bod.

Another Great K-Drama! Some gut wqrenching acting scenes! (Possible spoiler alert)

Warning: Spoilers
First of all my 2 favorites were Oh Soo Jae and Choi Tae Kook The series is worth watching just to see the two of them engaged in a deadly power play. If I had one problem it was the romance - I thought the idea of a professor and a student was too much and Gong Chan just looked too much like a teenager and his insistence on clinging to Oh Soo Jae was creepy at times - Also it would seem like once she realized he was a client she should have had some ethical struggle as a lawyer getting romantically involved with a client - even if she worked it out due to the passage of time. He's a good actor just not right for this part and when the 2 of them were together it made her look like a teen/twenty something girl instead of the powerful lawyer who fought her way to the top. Anyway it was a good watch!

Really fantastic. Don't jump to conclusions!

PLEASE do not rate the show unless you've seen most of it. I won't spoil anything, but some things that happened in the first episode do not represent the full picture. The show is trying to break boundaries in South Korea, and to do that, the writers must cater to them first, and then reveal information as time goes on. In my opinion, the writers have done an amazing job at that. The show grabs your attention immediately, and you want to keep watching to find out what's really going on. Why Her? Is devoid of a lot of clichés. And I love that it's a noona (younger man, older woman) romance instead of the usual oppa (younger woman, older man) romance. And she is strong as HELL. Oh Su-Jae had to work so hard to get to where she is at now. And you don't know what happened until well into the show. Seo Hyun-Jin makes such an amazing performance. If you like strong female leads, trust me on this - you'll love this show.

Oooh This one is full package mature content.

There is nothing to unlike about this show.

Crime Thriller Suspense Drama Subtle Romance Everything.

This show is a situational irony about law system. I like how they are showcasing it in a subtle and realistic way like how it is actually persist in our society.

There is growth in the characters of leads. The female lead is potraying her chracter with GREY shade which is tempting.

I like this kind of genre.

All in all i am really enjoying it. And you can also go for it if you want to see Dark and grey shade series.

It should have been re-titled Always Her.
kmhlbeavis4 September 2022
At first I thought that this was something different from her than the usual type of roles that she plays. I thought that she was going to be the aggressor from start to finish. By the 5th episode it becomes clear that she is the victim again. With the usual old guy as the villain. The only change that they made to make others think differently is that they added another victim and 2 assistant villains to the mix. I hate to say it but if Seo Hyun-jin keeps playing these type of victim roles she will be typecast for this type of thing her entire career. I would like to see her do something different like Park Shin Hye or Park Bo Young do. As for this movie you can pretty much tell how it's going to end so no surprise there. As for the other character who's real name in the series was Kim Dong Goo, the way he acted the characters name should have been Kim Dong on glue. That's way he really portrayed himself. Would I recommend this ? Only if you like watching Hyun Jin like I do. The 7 stars were all for her. Next time they should try to cast a younger villain or at least like in some of the action flicks I grew up watching a young guy in a wig pretending to be old and doing some martial arts.

Good Enough
PennyReviews19 October 2022
Korean Drama " Why Her ? " is an office melodrama that centers around the leading lady who dominated the whole drama.

The story has many layers, starting with a scandal that ruins the leading lady's career, and then, slowly, revealing the past and the clues for the main criminal case that binds everything together in the final episodes.

And yet, and even though the drama had many action scenes and suspenseful moments, the romance was unnecessary, cheesy, and not what the story needed. Plus, it was only there to fill in the gaps and had no pace and no smooth progress.

As for the performances, the leading lady gave a killer performance. The rest of the cast did a good job as well.

So, overall, 6 out of 10.

Incredible

So this drama is a piece of art. It wasn't boring and had a great plot. I really enjoyed watching it, but if you are a fan of a lot of romance I don't think this drama will satisfy you, but for me who is into criminal thrillers this show was great. I really recommend watching this drama.

Almost perfect

Warning: Spoilers
I had a basic idea as to what and how this show is gonna be like as I started watching.

And it turned out to be much better than I expected.

The script is good, actors have done brilliant work here. The main leads actress did her character justice. The main antagonist was apt in bringing that evil demeanor in his every expression. Rest of the characters had good roles, and they did good as well.

My only concern or complaint with the show is that ML was very downplayed, way too much. And how the climax was done. I'll explain the details further.

The climax I feel was poorly done in contrast of what the show has been. Just ending the show by exposing all the bad guys all at once, all evidence exposed all at once, was just boring. Like the gods of luck just struck a chord with our protagonists and they got all the evidence all at once, was just lousy writing. The show would've been so much better if all the bad guys were taken down one by one throughout the show and not all at once in one single stretch of 30 minutes. Because it's basically a revenge drama, and the revenge would have been much sweeter when savoured and not gulped down at once.

The most important lacking of the show is how the ML was done. He had so much going for him, most of the core plot and the revenge story was also his part, and the way he loved the FL with absolute care and dedication, doting on her all the time, it was so well written but not explored. Also the two leads deserved much more time together, with all the crap they have dealt in their life. Especially the ML, he deserved much more love and care from the FL. And it would've made the show much better. As we see how ML, just crashes into the world of FL, breaking down her walls and seeing through the cold rude appearance of hers and not backing down even once, it was so well written, it was I guess in 2nd episode that he boldly just confesses to her that he likes her, and even after getting harsh cold words from her, all he does is love and care for her even more. ML was such a positive lovable character and he deserved much more part in the story, and it would've made even more sense, since he had a large part of why the revenge was needed. But he hardly had a part to play in taking that revenge.

I believe this part of the show is weak, it would've been a much better show with the two leads working together more, in revenge and relationship both. Rather than just being focused on FL.

Anyways, I'd surely recommend the show is you like revenge dramas, there's hardly any romance here, but you'll love how the ML dotes on FL. It's not a show that I'd rewatch, probably just few scenes where ML loves and cares for FL.

Gripping, with rushed yet somewhat satisfactory ending
pranayjalvi31 July 2022
Another law mystery drama in this year's plate, Why Her started strong, thanks to an amazing performance by See Hyun Jin. The premise is simple, a goal of reaching to the top, due to unfair past behaviour by everyone.

In a world full of injustice, there seems to be no hope of going up against big corporations that can easily influence various institutions in society.

Although fictional, characters like Chairman Han, Assemblyman Lee, and Chairman Choi represent a portion of the powerful in today's society, who abuse the law for their personal gain.

But in the end, there is an end to their abuse of power that disgraces the justice system. The collapse of their empires is also caused by their own misdeeds, which have always been at risk to be exposed.

The pacing was well maintained, although it suddenly rushed in when the 14th episode aired, with multiple layers coming and ending within moments, without giving a proper enclosure. The finale was cliche and had nothing extraordinary, but what made me feel good about the finale is that justice prevails in the end, no matter what.

My Rating : 8/10.

Why??
mikkiparker23 July 2022
Too prolonged with boring and old plot twists Usually, I am someone who prefers long, 16-episode dramas but this one felt too long for my personal liking. The romance in this was absolutely unnecessary and did not feel genuine. The romanticizing of the teacher/student relationship with a huge age gap was too much. The speed at which the ML and FL got together was too fast and during the whole drama, it did not even seem that the main leads were in love. It would be better without the romance.

Also, the story got boring pretty fast. The first half of the drama felt okay (except for the romance) but the more episodes aired, the more boring it got. The script was poorly written. The main mystery of who killed Chan's sister and why was too simple for revenge and politics-oriented drama. The whole plot/story could have easily been told in 10 to 12 episodes. This drama brings nothing new, it hardly keeps the viewer entertained.

It was a huge let-down for me.

Twisted, Thoroughly Entertaining Melodrama
fake_moviestar28 July 2022
Why Her is an intense melodrama full of well written twists and turns. Seo Hyun Jin is incredible in this, and her performance alone is worth a watch. Hwang In Yeop is wonderful as well, and the rest of the supporting cast are great, particularly Huh Joon Ho as the villain who was absolutely fantastic. The characters are all very well written and well rounded. The score creates the perfect atmosphere for a really entertaining watch that keeps you hooked from start to finish. I am not a fan of noona romances, but the leads had enough chemistry and the characters had a good enough connection that the relationship was believable.

The show is well worth a watch!

Pretty great! except..
shahiranadeem25 August 2022
Seeing the promo pics and trailers for months I was so excited for this drama and it almost lived up to my expectations.. the one thing i didn't like was the romance lol,, it was kinda unecessary i mean everyone was excited for Hwang Inyeop to be the main lead and end up with the female lead but idk smth was off and I think there would've been more impact if there was no romance or just implied romance.. but yeah all the crime and law parts were great the mystery was really good some parts seemed not needed but overall it was pretty good!

Surprisingly Good Drama with Twists and Turns, Suspense, Romance
PalmBeachG28 October 2022
I have no reason not to give this drama a 10 rating. It was intriguing, and I thought both the lead female actress and the male lead actor Hwang In Yeop did great jobs in both their roles - "Her" in the female lawyer partner role and Hwang In Yeop in the student/former client role. Perfect choices. There was suspense, mystery, romance, surprises, twists and turns in the end which all made this drama a top rated one. The first episode I wasn't too sure, but so glad kept watching it as the evil men kept revealing themselves while the pawns and puppets start realizing how they have been used. The female lawyer who has been used herself, many times by her own choice in the past to get ahead starts to make her life right which of course stirs up all the evil characters as they begin to get desperate. Fun to watch and keeps you guessing.

starts off great but by last episode it is all bad .
kittenintown31 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The story starts off really great .first three episodes you start thinking that it is a very well made show but by the end of it .it turns out to be all bad .with worse ending that could ever have happened . An innocent rape victim is riddiculed by the main actress of the show as lawyer and still somehow she is being shown as sympathetic .i really dont know what the show has tried to achieve . Anyone giving this show a 10 doesnot even know the flaws this tv show has .most of the villains acting is below par .the main lawyer seems to be getting clues out of thin air like god is throwing clues in her lap. Sometimes the show really becomes unbelievable .too many coincendeces . The show keeps on dragging after 4 episode . You start feeling less and less excited as the show goes on . By the end of last episode i didnot give a nickle about any character involved in the tv show. I kept watching it till last episode because of these other so called 10 rating reviews . Do yourself a favor and dont be stupid like me and skip this tv show for good .you can thank me later .

Nothing special
keydreaming28 July 2022
Personally, it took me more than 10 episodes to get into the story. I forced myself to keep watching until the end since I wanted to know what would happen. Maybe I expected better when I started this drama, but honestly I didn't like any of the characters or relationships. I didn't hate them but they weren't that interesting. For me, it's a forgettable drama.
