The attorneys for the former Florida State University student accused of fatally stabbing a couple and biting off parts of a man’s face contend in recently-filed court papers that Austin Harrouff is “insane”: They say he was unaware of what he was doing or that what he was doing was wrong.
On Tuesday, Nellie King, one of the lawyers representing Austin Harrouff, filed a notice of intent for an insanity defense. The two-page court filing, obtained by People, claims Harrouff is “insane” and was “suffering from a full-blown psychotic episode” at the time of the Aug. 15, 2016, attack.

"Betrayest thou the Son of Man with a kiss?" This was the incredulous question Jesus posed to Judas in the garden of Gesthemane, the night His follower-slash-frenemy ratted him out with a telltale smooch. After tonight's episode of The Young Pope, we've got a feeling Pope Pius Xiii knows how the Good Lord felt. No, Sister Mary didn't lock lips with her former ward – even for a show this Oedipally fixated, that would be a bridge too far. But her desperate attempt to end his disastrous reign was no less intimate.

“About three in the afternoon, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani (which means, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’)”—Matthew 27:46Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield), a Jesuit priest ministering in a 17th century Japan hostile to Christians, craves the sound of this voice, pining for a confirmation of his convictions: something—anything—to demonstrate that God, too, has not forsaken him. Accompanied by Garrpe (Adam Driver), a fellow priest, he enters Japan looking for his former mentor, Father Ferreira (Liam Neeson), who according to rumor apostatized at the hands of the Japanese authorities. Because the Japanese closed off their borders to “Christian” nations like England, Portugal and Spain, Garrpe and Rodrigues travel illegally from Macao to Japan, led by an enigmatic drunkard, Kichijiro (Yôsuke Kubozuka). Shortly after their arrival, the priests bear witness to excruciating acts of torture perpetrated against the local Japanese Christians.

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man, You cannot say, or guess, for you know only A heap of broken images, where the sun beats, And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief, And the dry stone no sound of water. - “Waste Land – The Burial Of The Dead” It's strange, I admit it, but T.S. Eliot's poetic lines on cultural decline and the fragile human spirit are making me think of the Rayburns. They're the pillars of the Florida Keys community at the center of “Bloodline,” the new original Netflix series created by Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler, and Daniel Zelman. In case you didn't know that, or haven't caught up with the entire season yet and wish to have nothing spoiled, this article will be waiting for you when you return. Otherwise, consider yourselves warned!

So the television news is still abuzz with the upcoming series Constantine, produced by NBC with the pilot episode due to début on October 24th. The show is an adaptation of DC Vertigo’s Hellblazer series about everyone’s favourite liverpudlian mage John Constantine. Unlike more conventional occult investigators like Stephen Strange, Constantine was a chain-smoking cynical con artist, relying mostly on lies and manipulation. Prior to the reboot in New 52 Constantine rarely used magic and often got his friends killed due to his addiction to the occult.
The series looks to be a much more faithful adaptation than 2005’s Constantine, with leading man Matt Ryan looking the part and sporting an accent at least from the British Isles. Long-standing Constantine nemesis Nergal is confirmed to be a factor as well as, for some odd reason, Dr Fate. However, there are some storylines from the comic that it’s...

(Cbr) At the beginning of "The Tomorrow People’s" freshman season, the CW drama’s creator Phil Klemmer promised a coming of age tale. And now with the season finale, the writer is looking to press the show into a more grown up action adventure. After 21 episodes of double crosses, family revelations and battles between the titular evolved teenagers and the clandestine organization known as Ultra, series lead Stephen (Robbie Amell) is set to make up for the mistakes of his scientist father all while his uncle Jedekiah (Mark Pellegrino) uses his newfound power to tear the world apart. And while that conflict has been brewing for a while, Klemmer promised even more big changes as the show turns the page towards what he hopes is a very different, adult Season 2 pickup. In advance of tonight’s season finale – the aptly titled “Son of Man” – Spinoff spoke to the executive...

Rarely has a freshman season ended with such derring-do, such panache, such tight yet satisfyingly almost-not-achieved resolution as The Tomorrow People does this week with "Son of Man." The loose ends are gathered and squared away in a manner any Boy Scout would be proud of. The story arc gracefully lands with a satisfying sploosh on the other side of the science fiction lagoon. And if this is the end, well, it's a mighty fine one and we can expect a whole slew of cartoon series to prolong the life of this marvelous Ttp universe.
"Son of Man" is well written and executed, and the story is assembled with all the right touches of mystery, romance, revelation and hope without leaning toward the mawkish or sickeningly sweet.

Holy heart attack Batman, that was intense! "Kill Switch," The Tomorrow People's penultimate episode couldn't have been more gripping. Loads of people around the nation are going to be throwing things at their big and small screens if this sci-fi serial thriller isn't renewed after what promises to be a rocket booster ride finale next week with "Son of Man."
The Tomorrow People delivered major duplicity among the rank and file, overt and covert flirtation and several put-your-man-pants-on calls to action, while skewering the possibilities with two startling cliffhanger-y threads that will gnaw at viewers' anxious and curious intellects for the next 166 hours. Damn you, CW, for getting us all hooked.

After a freshman season of discovering their powers, learning to work together and choosing sides between good and evil, The CW’s “The Tomorrow People” are facing a cataclysmic event in their first season finale (which may even be a series finale since it hasn’t been renewed for a second season yet). Let’s hope there are no major cliffhangers left over at the end of this. The finale of “The Tomorrow People,” titled “Son of Man,” will air on Monday, May 5th at 9pm. Russell (Aaron Yoo) realizes his alliance with The Founder (guest star Simon Merrells) was a mistake, and [...]

Photo © Ingrid Aas Last year I had a chat with Director Scott Derrickson about the key role of music in his hit film Sinister, and his search for just the right artists to provide the nightmarish sonic undercurrent for the movie's most chilling scenes. Among those whose music found its way into the film was Norwegian experimental unit Ulver, who began life as as a black metal combo, but over time morphed into a musical form that even more ominous, and also totally unpredictable (case in point: Childhood's End, their collection of '60s psychedelic rock covers with a dark fantasy twist). Their music creeps up on you in subtle, haunting ways, and much like Sinister, Ulver's work lingers long after your first experience – a memory of a frightening but strangely beautiful dream. Ulver's latest release, Messe I.X-vi.X, is one of the band's most surreal and haunting projects to date,...

It is often said that superheroes are modern glosses on mythic heroes of antiquity. Batman. Spider-Man. Iron Man. They are but many different modern faces of Gilgamesh, Odysseus, and the whole metamorphic Campbellian crew, and the stories of their Herculean labors contain truths about human nature, heroic character, and our innate want for freaky cosplay. Or maybe just catharsis for 9/11. Probably just that. Yes, “mythology” sounds pretentious, like the rationalization of those who need to justify spending so much time filling their imagination with weird tales of fabulous people wearing outrageous clothes while engaging in ridiculously violent or risky behavior.

The last ever episode of Fringe is just days away, so Fox is stepping up the publicity with this creepy promo poster...
We've seen the promo trailer, now a disturbing new image arrives for the two-hour Fringe finale, due to air this Friday in the Us and early Saturday morning in the UK and Ireland.
Entitled An Enemy of Fate, the one hundredth and final episode of Fringe comes directed and written by showrunner J.H Wyman, and sees Walt and co. face off against The Observers in an epic battle for the fate of mankind.
As posters go, this one's startlingly reminiscent of Magritte's The Son of Man, if you imagine a levitating apple just about where the nosebleed is...
