The Simpsons take a stab at Mad Men
athomed25 December 2011
Couch gag rating: N/A There wasn't one.

The episode: I was worried this would be another episode focused on Krusty the Clown. Not that I don't like Krusty, but I get tired of his many relationships and career upheavals. The episode is about Homer being promoted to account man by Mr. Burns and the effect it has on him.

Favorite moment(s): Mr. Burns at the party. Bart's unique way of disarming his bullies at school.

This was a decent episode. I don't watch Mad Men but enough of it has seeped into popular culture that I understood the origin of most of the jokes. This episode is very focused on Homer and not on a side character living in Springfield.

The episode expressed a good deal of heart. I think the ending wrapped up a little too quick, but I do like the Simpsons episodes which deal with Homer's relationship with his family.

Overall rating: 6/10 I wasn't impressed with the jokes nor extremely impressed with the plot. I'd suggest not introducing someone who's never seen the show to Simpsons with this episode. Go with a classic episode.

Good take on Mad Men but doesn't live up to its previous episodes,
lesleyharris3018 July 2012
The Man In The Blue Flannel Pants is a good, funny and enjoyable episode with a good storyline and makes a good parody on Mad Men,also featuring two guest stars that are on the series,John Slattery(AKA Roger Sterling)as Robert Marlowe and Matthew Weiner(the creator of Mad Men) as a businessman. However,I don't think this episode lives up to some of the previous episodes of the 23rd season, particularly The Food Wife and The Book Job,but it still is a good episodes that passes out ones like Replaceable You.

Krusty has a party at the Simpsons house to promote his new vodka,Absolute Krusty. After Mr Burns shows up,he is very impressed with the way Homer showed him how to have a good time at the party at promotes Homer to Account Man.Homer enjoys his new job but is losing time for his family and friends.
