In both Death in Paradise (2011) and this spinoff show off Beyond Paradise, the main character lives in a rustic abode (beach shack and houseboat respectively) with a resident animal that is not a typical pet. In Death in Paradise it's Harry the Lizard and in Beyond Paradise it's Selwyn the Duck.
Whilst set in the English county of Devon, not one of the regular actors is from Devon and are reported to have based their accents on the movie Hot Fuzz (2007).
