- At the Orozco Healing Center, an ex-soldier meeting with his doctor, Paul Orozco, who tells him that his war wound is coming along nicely but he wants to see his patient in group. After the patient leaves, Orozco's assistant Mitchell Bukner tells him that he has messages from Austin Kurlander. Paul tosses the messages away, saying he has nothing to say to Kurlander. He tells Mitchell to take it easy the upcoming weekend, As Mitchell leaves, the clinic blows up behind him.
Panama: Four Years Ago
Eliot and Paul are in a bar, drinking. They share a toast to the clinic Paul plans to start when he gets stateside, and Eliot talks about how Kurlander is footing the billing and doesn't seem that generous. Paul asks if Eliot has made with his past, and Eliot says that what he's done can't be fixed.
The Present
Mitchell gives the eulogy at Paul's funeral. Paul's ex-soldier patients are in the crowd, as is Eliot. Afterward, Mitchell approaches Eliot at the bar and says that he recognizes his photos from Paul's office. He introduces himself and asks Eliot to help him prove the explosion wasn't an accident. Mitchell says that Kurlander killed Paul.
Later at the bar, Eliot tells the crew about what happened but says that he can handle it by himself. The others say they know the risks, and Eliot doesn't have to handle it on his own. Breanna has gone over the forensics reports and figures that the explosion was deliberate, and the crew has checked Kurlander. He received a Silver Star for holding a bridge for a week until reinforcement arrived, and Paul was the medic in Kurlander's unit. After discharge, Kurlander worked in several private security companies and then founded his own, Silverguard, which is one of the largest such companies in existence. It's been rumored that Silverguard is corrupt, but nothing has been proven. Kurlander is lobbying a bill that would let Silverguard do more work for the government, Eliot says that a couple of Silverguard men came to the clinic and leaned on Paul for patient files. Sophie has Eliot go to Paul's place to look through his things, and Eliot volunteers to go with Eliot.
Sophie goes to the Silverguard office, while Breanna is in the truck nearby looping the security camera. Parker is on the roof and disabling the facial software recognition in the lobby and jamming the IR sensors in the vents.
Harry and Eliot got to Pauls' home and Eliot knows where Paul hid his spare set of house keys. They go in and finds the place turned over. Harry trips a booby trap, which Eliot spots and disarms before Harry can set it off. The two men find a hidden armory, and there's a photo of Kurlander who Paul was going after.
Breanna makes a cheese burrito while waiting for her computer to finish disabling the systems. Parker goes into the server room, while Breanna sets Sophie up for a meeting with Kurlander. Kurlander comes out on his way to a meeting, and he calls General Frick about Orpheus Grove as he's heading out. Breanna tries to catch up and accidentally hits Sophie with the truck. Kurlander ignores the accident and continues to his meeting. Breanna gets out and checks on Sophie, who is okay. Parker drops down from the building onto the truck roof.
The women return to the bar and check in with Eliot, who has confirmed from Paul's records that he was looking into a mine explosion that killed 35 striking workers. During a therapy session, some of Silverguard's ex-soldiers employees admitted that they planted the explosives responsible. Paul took it to Kurlander, and Kurlander sent men to get Paul's files. Sophie figures they have to get close enough to Kurlander to get him to talk. Parker says that Orpheus Grove was built on the ground of a plantation, after the Civil War, by Confederate general Frick and now belong to his great grandson General Lionel Frick. It's served as a secret meeting ground/summer retreat for America's power elite. There's rumors of secret meetings and an uncrackable safe. Sophie figures that Kurlander wants to impress Frick by putting in the security, and if they can get in and sabotage Kurlander's effort, they'll leave him vulnerable.
Breanna reports that Orpheus is "cloaked", and there's no satellite imaging available. If she can set up in the town of Mills Landings, ten miles away, she might be able to hack the cell tower and gain overhead access.
While Harry looks over Paul's armory, Eliot says that Paul saved his life when he got shot on a mission. He assures Harry that he's no coward and appreciates him coming there with him.
Breanna goes to a frog museum at Mills Landing, and meets Maureen Chesterton Mills, the town historian and concerned about the plight of the Mississippi gopher song. When Breanna poses as a grad student, Maureen welcomes her with open arms and explains that she considers the sees the extinction of the frogs as a threat to national security. Breanna says that she's there to help and goes to work on the wifi.
Sophie comes in with the female linen help, and Breanna warns her via the comms that once Sophie passes the perimeter, their comms will stop working until Breanna can get the cloak down. Parker is hiding in a laundry basket, and she and Sophie confirm that the comms still work inside the perimeter. Sophie then wheels the basket away so they can go take a look.
Parker cuts a hole in the side of the basket and looks around at the elite gathered outside on picnic tables, eating and drinking. They duck into a tent so that Parker can get out, and they make a wage on how can lift Kurlander's phone first so that Breanna can clone it and access Kurlander's encrypted emails. Meanwhile, Kurlander is describing his experience at the bridge to a group of enthralled men, Frick is there, unimpressed with Kurlander's storytelling. Sophie passes, drops her load of linens, and while Frick chivalrously helps her, Kurlander tells her to do her job and be on her way. Sophie gives out a sob story about her family and Frick chastise Kurlander for his rudeness, then blows on a ram's horn to summon everyone together. Parker tries to pickpocket Kurlander's phone but gets his walkie instead as he walks off.
Everyone gather in the main tent and Frick talks about how his great grandfather created Orpheus as a refuge for great men to gather together and relax. He tells them at all phones, tablets, and computers will be locked up during their visit, and has everyone hand them in to put in the safe in "big tree"... which Parker is hiding up in. She also spots a person in a ghillie suit aiming a rifle at Kurlander.
Eliot arrives and tackles the sniper, and discovers that it's Paul. He admits that he found the bombs at the clinic, and wired them to explode after he got clear. Paul tells Eliot that everything Kurlander has said and done is a lie. He froze on the bridge and got four men killed. He forced Paul to write up a story about his "bravery", and Paul got the clinic in return. Paul figured the ends justified the means and he could help soldiers, but Kurlander got more powerful and hurt more people. Eliot is furious that Paul didn't tell him, and Paul admits that he knew Eliot wouldn't have gone along with it. Paul admits that he was ashamed of what he did,
Eliot figures that they have to get Kurlander, and Sophie agrees and says that they have to discredit Kurlander. If they can get him to confess to what he did in front of a specific audience, then Kurlander will lose his benefactor and his army. She says that she'll prime Kurlander while Eliot takes out as many Silverguard guard as possible. Meanwhile, Parker is to get the three keys to the safe. Breanna has penetrated the cloaking device, but is busy with helping Maureen with preserving the frogs. Orpheus is the only remaining spawning ground of the frog, and their immune system may hold the key to eliminating bacterial infections. Breanna has also posted Maureen's flyers on the Internet and got dozens of volunteers.
Three Silverguard men are patrolling the grounds, and spot the ghillie suit in the middle of the trail. They draw their guns and Eliot drops down out of a tree and takes out two of them. Paul is in the suit, and takes out the third. Harry is in the brush, and comes out and says that the fight was cool.
Parker secretly takes the first key, while Kurlander discovers the walkie Sophie took is gone. He tells his men to double the perimeter guard. Sophie and Parker are nearby and stage an argument, and Kurlander comes over. He compliments Sophie and she primes him about his courage under fire. Impressed, he invites Sophie to come with him on a perimeter check, and as they go he regales her with his story.
Harry tries to ambush two more guards but gets stuck in a tree. Eliot and Paul take the guards out, and Paul sarcastically thanks Harry for his help.
The second key man is getting a massage, and Parker takes the masseur's place and lifts the key.
Paul notices that Harry and his ghillie suit are gone.
Parker poses as a belly dancer for the men, brings the third key man up to dance with her, and lifts his key.
Kurlander is still regaling Sophie with his story, and his assistant Braddock comes up and tells Kurlander that they've lost contact with two of their teams. Kurlander then takes Sophie into his command tent, sits her down, plays a back a photo of when she was outside his building, draws his gun, and demands to know who Sophie really is. Sophie uses a Brazilian accent and says that she's a special agent with the Bolivian Security Service, and she's investigating the mine explosion. Kurlander, taken aback, says that it's been handled and the two contractors have been redeployed. She tells him that Paul involved Eliot, and Eliot has deal with the two missing security teams. Braddock and his men bring in Harry in the ghillie suit, and Kurlander thinks he's Eliot.
Parker poses as a drunk man in one of their white robes, and tasers a guard unconscious when he comes over to where she's at the tree. She then opens the safe with the keys but discovers that they all three have to be turned at once... and goes over to the unconscious guard.
The guards tie up Harry, and Kurlander says that he tried to hire Eliot but he never responded. Kurlander prepares to torture Harry, and Sophie speaks up saying that "Eliot" is toying with Kurlander while his accomplice steals the phones. Kurlander punches Harry, who pretends to be Eliot and gives Kurlander one of Eliot's earlier comments about how cowards usually brag. Kurlander says that he might be a coward but has an army, and tells his men to kill Harry when he leaves with Sophie to take a look at the save.
Parker uses the hand of the unconscious guard along with two of her own, and a key necklace, to turn all three keys at once.
Harry secretly uses a shruiken he took from Paul's armory to cut his bonds, while he taunts the two guards. They draw their guns and Harry rambles on, quoting lines from the movie 'Rocky' in his "Eliot" voice. Eliot and Paul arrive and take out the guards from behind, and Harry finishes cutting himself free, and Eliot wonders why Harry was speaking in his voice.
Kurlander gets to the safe and discovers that it's open, and the phones are gone. He tells Braddock to search the area.
Paul thanks Eliot for stopping him, from shooting Kurlander. Eliot tells Paul that he has to own what he's done, rather than run away or kill Kurlander. Paul goes to confront Kurlander at the tree and tells him that all he's done is made mistakes, and draws his gun. Eliot arrives and steps between Kurlander and Paul.
Harry finds Flick and tells him that some of the men are messing with the ram's horn over by the tree. Flick goes over.
Paul says that he and Kurlander stole valor, but Kurlander doesn't care. Kurlander says that the four men at the bridge are dead and aren't coming back, and all soldiers are disposable. He pulls the trigger, but there's nothing in the chamber. Earlier when Sophie and Parker faked their argument, Parker stole the clip from Kurlander's gun. Flick comes in and says that Kurlander finally slipped up. He'll clean up Kurlander's mess, but now Sophie, Eliot, and Paul will have to die.
Kurlander calls in his men to kill the trio, but when he calls on his walkie, his voice goes out over Orpheus. Parker got the entire thing on the walkie they stole from Kurlander, and broadcast it to everyone, including Kurlander's men. Kurlander and Frick run, and Eliot and Paul go after them. Parker drops down to tell Sophie that she has to pay up on their wager.
When Kurlander tells Braddock to bring around his car, Braddock and the guards resign in disgust. Harry, Paul, and Eliot are waiting with more guards, and Harry points out that Kurlander can't order his men to do anything illegal or unethical. They all quit, and surround Kurlander who jumps into a nearby creek. Meanwhile, Maureen and her protesters are at the gate, and cut off Frick as he tries to escape. She says that she has proof that the guests are pissing on the frog eggs, killing them. Maureen has a temporary injunction to have Frick vacate the land pending an investigation. Breanna is there, and tell Frick that when she took down the cloaking device, everyone heard what was said on every phone and radio. The police show up to take Frick into custody, along with Kurlander, and the news crews that came get it all on tape.
Later at the bar, the crew watch a newscast about the arrests. Kurlander is under a Senate investigation for fraud and murder. Orpheus is now a protected sanctuary for the frogs, and the crew now have the phone of the elites. In the courtyard, Paul says that he'll testify against Kurlander and when he did, he felt the darkness lift. He invites Eliot to help rebuild his clinic, and they share a toast to the road ahead.
