Nothing new to see here unfortunately
hanalisss30 October 2022
Plot is one of the weakest I have seen lately.

Quite cliché revenge kdrama flooded with romance and some comedy.

I think the cast is way too good for this series to be fair. I was expecting a lot more and I was pretty much disappointed.

Every storyline is quite interesting individually but they never developed them enough and were resolved in 1 or 2 episodes, which is fine but then the big main plot never got to its climax and it was just weak and poorly written, honestly the villain here is supposed to be bad but was portrayed more like a joke or a satire, I never understood why.

I loved the female lead character because she was strong, steadfast and independent but at the same time there's way too many cliches with her too and you can predict everything she ( or any of the rest of the characters) will do.

The chemistry between the leads is good though and there's many steamy scenes that you don't usually see in kdramas.

I'd say, watch it if you have nothing else to watch and want something simple and lighthearted.

For Romance more than enough
apranto4 December 2022
TOO MUCH ROMANTIC THAT it will feel like CRINGE.

This drama was started very well, and if someone like comedy romance then it is good.

And if i talk about character, their acting is so good to watch. I know the lead male character is popular enough to be in a good drama, i saw his more drama. But i never saw this Female main character. She is super cute with hotness. Most of the time enjoyed this drama just by watching her, her smile, face expression was too adorable.

Now come to the drama story line, there was not a logical story to feel you attractive or make you to feel "what will be the next" in story. They just forcefully took a irrelevant story, and pushed the whole drama by highlighting it. So if you thinking there will be a interesting story with romance, than forget it.

Story was about a lawyer(lead actress) and a former prosecutor(lead actor). Lead actress loss his dad in middle school time,by a accident made by lead actor family's company. But they studied together and after so many year they meet again and fall for each other.

Though their relationship was too good to watch, but story was too boring to watch also. I still don't know what was the story wanted to mean. And their romance was too bold that, sometimes it feel like this drama is entering into "blue flim". Whenever they are intimating their dialogue was too annoying to hear( you will hear this type of dialogue in pr**n video).

So if you are searching for too simple, heart fluttering drama then this is good.

Enjoying this rom-com!
dockie-9410530 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Lee sueng gi has screen presence. Can't help but like him. I was glad to see they included him singing as a fun little scene. Ms Han is way overacting but the female characters in rom-cons seemed to be instructed to do so. Not liking the main characters talking to camera. Makes me cringe. Also hoping Korea tv does away with silly emoji doll cartoons on the screen, etc. The supporting cast is good. The actor playing wicked uncle is always fun to watch. The hero being afraid to tell heroine he likes her for 17 years is ridiculous. Light touch on different social issues. Wish law cafes were real!

The Law Cafe: a special full package of a romantic comedies drama could give
monikayuliarti25 September 2022
Lee Seung Gi plays Jungho character flawlessly alongside with Lee Se Young who also amazingly presents Yuri character as a persistent yet caring person lawyer is the spotlight. The stories told per episode are something that we can see in our everyday life. So, watching it may like that you see your daily life. Also, we can learn several moral values through the episodes. Some issues like bullying at school and apartment residents clash with the construction company are portrait in it. Love story is also the main plotline, which go back and forth from the high school and college of Jungho and Yuri. They will surely reunite as a couple again, for sure. The supporting roles also play crucial part, especially to enhance the comedy scene. It is a rom-com drama after all. Feel the joy watching it, so worthy!

TOP NOTCH! Healing and Socially Aware Drama.
tzfrosal24 September 2022
6 episodes in and am already falling deep inlove with #TheLawCafe.

Apart from the solid and undoubtedly strong chemistry between #LeeSeungGi & #LeeSeYoung, the adaptation of the web novel and the script are well written and executed. The cliche's have a refreshing spin to it, and each episode's ending leaves you curious about what our characters will do next. The sensitive social issues are tastefully dealt with and the strong performances from every cast member leave a mark.

Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young's chemistry is undeniably strong, both their eye-acting is enough to make you feel all the feels!

Definitely a KDrama worth binging and repeating. It's a rom-com drama with all the right twists.👌👍

Are you guys serious?
MovieIQTest26 October 2022
I couldn't even finish the first episode of this horrible series. It's so childish, pretentious and over-the-top pretentious. The overacting by all the characters, especially those male actors were just disgusting, they looked and acted more feminine than the real women. The weird hairdo of the Korean young guys or even older men, with ugly hairs covering their foreheads is such a disgusting trendy hairstyle popularized by the K movies and dramas. The formulaic twisted and zigzag way of talking by the males also make them feel more like females. Then the poorly scripted dialog, making her look at the camera, delivering a narrative monologue again and again was another formulaic acting cliche that we often see in the K drama series or movies other than talking to themselves to let viewers know what's going on in their brain; their thoughts got to be exposed through their mouths. I really don't know how all of these viewers gave this moronic, pretentious, childish, overly exaggerated series such high ratings, almost every one of them is from 8/10 to 10/10, while I couldn't not survive its 1st episode.

Well... not bad but is just little boring show
sxhqjxm11 November 2023
Finally finished this drama for 3 days. What I can say about this drama is that it was good at the beginning of the drama but in the middle it was quite boring. The story begins with FL father being involved in a case and being accused of being the cause of the deaths of many people in the factory he works in and the person judging him is ML father who was bribed. The story is very monotonous because it is easy to predict, like FL doing law counseling and being helped by ML and so on until the end of the drama. The romance isn't really felt in this drama because from the start there has been a very long time skip from teenage school days to work, so ml and fl already know each other and the romance approach isn't really felt because ml already had feelings from the start and fl had feelings at the beginning. At the start of the episode, it can be said that everyone likes each other, which is a bit of a shame because the romance genre and the law genre, as usual, don't really match because the law is more pronounced in this drama than the romance genre. Overall I gave this drama a score of 7-7.5, even though in the final episodes like episode 14, 16 I skipped a lot of scenes because I was bored, but in the end I was able to finish this drama.

Refreshing and heartwarming, strong chemistry between the leads
Altheda9819 September 2022
The show gets better in every episode, it's a binge worthy and relaxing drama. Lee Seunggi as Kim Jungho and LeeSeyoung as Kim Yuri showed strong chemistry and perfect comedic timing. This drama is different from the usual law series as it deals with cases outside the court. It gives off a new concept and every cases is interesting as it leaves you with an important life lesson at the end and makes you think and reflect. Not to mention, the OST is also superb and background music fits every scene so well. I'm glad I gave this series a try. Definitely a drama to look forward to every week. All the best to the law cafe team.

Sweet and Entertaining Melodrama
fake_moviestar22 November 2022
I very much enjoyed The Law Cafe - the leads had great chemistry and the story was interesting and engaging. That being said, it was littered with cliches and should very much have been labelled/categorized as a melodrama. I was not expecting so many predictable and overly used plot devices, so that definitely affected my rating. These cliches made the story feel at times overly dramatic and sometimes even ridiculous. Although I was certainly never bored.

The acting was good all around, but I have to say the absolute stand out performance for me was the wildly entertaining, entirely insane character played by Jo Han-Chul. He completely stole every scene he was in, and at least half of my enjoyment came from watching him acting like a total lunatic.

Overall I enjoyed this, but probably wouldn't recommend it. Both the leads have been in much better dramas, and seeing them in those would be time better spent.

The Law Cafe is more than your ordinary romcom drama
lsg-74440-3240024 September 2022
If I am to compare TLC to food, it's a full course with enough portions of everything. It will serve you balance sweet, salty, sour and spicy taste.

I decided to watch this because of Lee SeungGi, I missed him in a romcom drama. Of course, he never disappoints in giving me butterflies. But the drama exceeds my expectation, it is definitely more than an ordinary romcom. Their idea of bringing common people's struggles to high point and resolve the cases outside of the court is a refreshing idea to me, a law drama without the actual court set-up. The intertwined story of the main characters is also something to look forward.

I can't wait for the next episodes. I'm curious how they will solve the next case in ep.7.

Wonderfully healing drama with right dose of law and romance
kanikapatwal-3831924 September 2022
The Law Cafe is essentially a romantic comedy but the mixing of law makes it pretty interesting. Its not a typical court room drama but its tries to find out of court lawful solutions to people's problems. Some socially relevant topics such as factory worker rights to safety, noise issues in apartment complexes, child abuse by own family, sexual harrasment and importance of consent, bullying in schools were raised in forst six eps in a very interesting manner. The issues are connected with main actor's story. The Actor are all so good specially leads Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young, they do justice to their character. Its really fun to watch the dynamic of a ex-prosecutor and attorney. Loving it.

The Scam Cafe
Park_Min4 February 2024
Right off the bat the technical problems were too glaring to ignore. The washed out black levels were a true eye sore that I had to make a custom color profile for it through the media player. A big portion of the drama was shot in direct bright sun light which amplified the problem even further. Enough technicality, the drama was supposed to offer a mix of romance, comedy and law, although hints of these genres do exist but the drama did an outstanding job in failing miserably with incorporating and mixing each one of them. They may throw some cheap lines within the legal field but that wasn't enough to qualify it to slap the law genre tag, let alone its name. I find it hard to believe that someone would find this funny. I think even our primitive ancestors would have a hard time with it. Finally, anything involving the romance as a concept was unquestionably broken. They couldn't even have a chemistry running despite being the first step for any kind of romance. Lee Seung Gi shouldn't have accepted this project. For dramas that waste 90% of its runtime on absolute nothingness, this drama would have a strong placement in my Top 10. With all that being said, unfortunately, this drama isn't the worst of its kind; I've seen worse.

Good Lawyer Themed Romance, Suspense
PalmBeachG2 October 2022
Updated my review to a 10 after the final episode. Lee Seung-gi is cast perfectly to play the really cute intelligent male lead lawyer used to be a prosecutor under his dad. When he re-unites with his first love, who is also a lawyer, you know there will be a romance coming. Problem is, just when it starts heating up, he always runs off or rebuffs her advances because he is holding back something from her which is the theme of the whole series in the beginning - what is he holding back? Why did he quit his job? Why can't he tell her? What is it that he has to fix? It all gets revealed as romance blossoms, violence episodes with villains happen, mystery happens, more than one love interest, love doubts take hold. Loved the complete ending - leaves nothing to double about any of the characters and so love that. I liked the chemistry between Lee Seung-gi and the FLA which is rare for me so that says alot.

a fresh rom-com drama that will make your heart flutter
nayracherisya25 September 2022
Despite having a drama theme that generally conveys a serious vibe, this drama includes a light comedy to keep the audience entertained. The storyline and cases presented up until episode 6 last week were quite interesting. Not only that, but the characters that Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Yeoung successfully portrayed are also very cute. The relationship is entertaining to watch because of Yuri's bold personality and Jung Ho's pretentious but caring personality. Lee Seung Gi deserves praise for being able to show a different side after his psychopathic role in Mouse. The way he secretly smiled when he saw Yuri instantly made the audience's hearts flutter as well.

Happy ending drama in this year
dheerajdesai-1344925 October 2022
I started this drama casually but got addicted to the storyline and it's not an ordinary rom com, it engages viewers emotionally and made us laugh cry and enthusiastic about the story, the way they both fight for justice is appreciated and the female lead did splendid job she is funny and lovely, her acting is the highlight of the drama, her mannerisms are the funniest, together it's a package of emotions, laugh moments and finally romance, each and every couple in this drama has their own happy ending which is very rare in this year as most of the dramas are tragic at the end,i was deeply hurt by 25 21 and big mouth, but i really thank the writers of this show for wonderful happy ending.

Fun, Heartwarming show that has it all: Drama, Comedy, Romance
OldGuyUS2 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show does have it all. Romance, Comedy, Drama. It was fun to watch and kept my interest from the start to the end. I heartily recommend it.

To Good Stuff The lead couple had great chemistry. Their emotions were believable for the most part. There was some (for a KDrama) pretty steamy scenes and dialog that kinda took my surprise. While it took my by surprise, I had no problem with it at all. It fit the characters and fit the story. The kisses looked invested by both parties, btw :-)

The FL , Lee Se-Young is beautiful and has a radiant smile. My wife also noted she has a really cute smirk :-). He acting was great. Interestingly, I was unsure about that for the first couple of episodes, but grew to really like her as the series progressed. Ms. Lee is super fun to watch and has a lot of positive energy.

The story was interesting, and I liked the legal scenarios our leads had to deal with. These were very socially aware, and I appreciated that they tackled these subjects head on. They were also well integrated into the overall story. I felt the same way about the non-legal subplots as well. Very well done!

We got to see the wedding! Woo Hoo! Oftentimes Asian dramas stop before the wedding or just skip past it. Not here! Thanks to the writers!

The Sub-Optimal (Mild Spoilers)

I like this series a lot, so why "just" an 8 and not a 9?

There was one plot fail near the end that drove me nuts. IRL things just would NOT have happened that way. But I guess they needed to up the tension and the drama.

Speaking of which, there are traumatic scenes. They were integral to the story, but sometimes the way the Asian dramas need to include Very Bad Happenings can get a bit tiresome. The best series (other than purely action series) create interest and tension without kidnappings , childhood trauma, etc.

Depending on your taste, the FL's personality could be a bit over the top. This was also integral to and a driver of the story. And I liked it. So although my wife also rated this series an 8, she would have liked to see that character toned down a tad. This is just a matter of taste as I said. Not a flaw at all for me.

If it were me (LOL) I would have written one story line a bit differently. I don't want to spoil the show by giving too many details, but I would have had the male lead react differently to the FL's feelings about marriage. I think it would have been believable without adding *unnecessary* negativity/angst.

When I really, truly, love a series so much to give it a 9 or a 10, I often get cranky that we don't get a season 2. Sometimes shows are just wrapped up so nicely that a second season is not necessary, but often I want more even so. For this series, they wrapped it up nicely, and I have no complaint. I don't feel the need for more of this story.

So, overall a really good show and a rating of 8. I'll rewatch it in perhaps a year's time.

I want to go on a journey
alaningle726 October 2022
Kim Yu-ri (Lee Se-young) is a lawyer who decides to open up a cafe which not only serves coffee and snacks but also offers legal advice to its patrons. Kim Jeong-ho (Lee Seung-gi) is the owner of the building which she rents and lives above the cafe. These two have a past when they were students but due to the involvement of his family with the death of her father they became estranged. The series is amusing and often has characters directly addressing the camera, the villain is over the top and the romance is treated in an adult fashion. The episodes deal with the various cases bought to the cafe and has the main story of the evil uncle running through to the end. I am a big fan of Lee Min-young and I wished she had more of a role as her storyline seemed to be box ticking, but that being said a lighthearted series which is worth a watch.

above and beyond an ordinary romcom
gsmarcom27 October 2022
On the one hand the drama has all the elements for a romcom, handsome & pretty main characters, bickering, fall in love, lovey dovey moments, kisses & passionate scenes etc etc. On the other hand it is so much more, it touches on many hot social issues in korea and offers solutions & comfort to people, like noise pollution, bullying, sexual harassment, child abuse, inheritance fight... And these cases are well blended with the main story development, well handled by the director. So it's not cringey like the normal romcom where each episode is about do you love me, do you love you.

Main leads Lee Seung-gi & Lee Seyoung are both brilliant actors, they did a good job in delivering the characters, and had very good chemistry as a couple. The humorous / funs scenes are also perfectly played.

All in all this is a light-hearted, healing drama that gives you comfort. I highly recommend.

Great Legal Romantic Drama
leahcubed14 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
9.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2022 South Korean romantic legal drama with 16, 60 minute episodes.

First I will provide a synopsis then review.

Synopsis

Some events in life shape us dramatically. Kim Yu-ri (Lee Se-young) lost her father in a tragic accident as a high school student. The fact that the accident was preventable had the company followed better safety standards made her determined to become a lawyer and focus on improving the safety and work quality for workers in Korea. It becomes her life's mission. She went to high school and college with Kim Jeong-ho (Lee Seung-gi) and they were romantically involved until he discovered that his family was involved in the corruption behind Yu-ri's father's accident. With strong sense of ancestry and responsibility for family actions, Jeong-ho decides that he and Yu-ri cannot be a couple and, with little indication, disappears from her life. Both were star students who became legal geniuses but Yu-ri has since pursued her passion to fight the underdog while Jeong-ho become so disillusioned he retreated to investigating the case in private while managing some buildings he owns. When Yu-ri is encouraged to retire from her current legal position because she is taking on two many money losing cases, she decides to open a cafe where she not only serves coffee but also legal advice. The location she picks just happens to be in a building Jeong-ho owns and the two are reunited. Yu-ri does not understand why Jeong-ho ended their relationship all those years ago and still harbors feeling for him not realizing he also maintains feelings for her. Can the two bring the corrupt perpetrators to justice? Will the cafe be successful in helping those who desperately need it and sustain Yu-ri enough she can afford to maintain it? Can Yu-ri convince Jeong-ho that the tragedy is not his fault?

Review

The cases were interesting and the friendships and romances were heart warming. It is a very good legal drama and I recommend it for anyone that likes romantic legal dramas.

Spoilers* Jeong-ho's reluctance to start a romance with Yu-ri was hard to understand as the series wore on. I understood, at first, the whole sins of my father angle and while that is not so much a thing in American culture I could understand it from what I know of Korean culture. But, with that, you either let it go or pursue it. As is so often the case I felt like he should just tell her what his father had done and let her decide if it was too much for her. I loved her unshakable sense of justice. How she would fight for the underdog even knowing it might cause her hardship. I did not feel the loop on Jeong-ho's father was completely closed. An honest discussion between him and his son explaining why he did some of the things he did might have mended their relationship sooner. I liked that they had reunited in the end. To me it was not in character for Yu-ri to be so reluctant to marry. Those that are reluctant usually experience bad relationships all around them. But her mother had a good relationship with her father up until his accidental death and then re-married and had a good relationship with her step-father so her fear of commitment did not make sense. It was also a little frustrating to have Jeong-ho come around and she is now the one, in the latter half of the series, who isn't sure if they can be together long term. I loved that it ended with a wedding. I am a fan of the "happily ever after" and I love all the wardrobe and seeing them all dressed up like that. There was just enough after story after the wedding to know what direction their lives were headed without going overboard and restarting the story.

#lawcafe #Leeseyoung #Leeseunggi.
