No pun intended - I had no idea this was part of a show. Because this was shown at a festival - and at first I was struggling to find it on imdb. Because of my believe that it was standalone that is. And it apparently is - but all that aside, what is the story about? Well it deals with Americas history. And you may feel similar to the white character or the family of the girl he is dating ... you may feel like you have to take sides. But is this really about that? Or is it about acknowledging the past? You know book bans and not teaching people about history is not going to help the situation or the future.
And that is what this is about in a nutshell I suppose. Of course with added shock effects and some tension that has to be there ... and dialog that is uncomfortable ... there is ... not everything is black and white (again no pun intended) ... some things boil down to ability to deal with things ... be open about and be honest about. You are your own man (or woman) ... accept it - but don't be afraid to look back ...
