Over the past month, content creators have flocked to the YouTube production spaces in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, and London, where Legendary Entertainment provided sets from the upcoming film Crimson Peak as settings for Halloween-themed videos. Throughout the month of October, the results of this "YouTube Space House of Horrors" program have been released across YouTube. House of Horrors is more than just a fun cross-promotion. It's also a contest through which Crimson Peak director will sit down for a rough-cut consultation with one creator from each region. Ultimately, one creator will earn a development deal with Legendary. A pair of former Internet Icon contestants have emerged as two of the frontrunners. The Brothers Riedell directed Dinner, a fun horror short featuring Olga Kay. Lana McKissack, on the other hand, has offered a darker option with The Passing, which doubles as a walkthrough of the haunted house set. Other...

After their original platform of choice suddenly fell apart, YouTube stars and BFFs Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, and Mamrie Hart have found a new home for Camp Takota. The feature-length film will be released through pay-to-view platform Vhx. Camp Takota was first announced at Vidcon, and it was originally attached to Chill. When Chill unexpectedly shuttered its pay-to-view operation in October, Takota was left without a distributor. Enter Vhx. The platform that has previously worked with comedians like Aziz Ansari and Louis C.K. recently raised a hefty sum to launch a self-distribution service, and Camp Takota will be one of that service's most desirable exclusive offerings when it becomes available for preorder on November 29th. Camp Takota will star Helbig, Hart, and Hart as three childhood friends who reunite at their old summer camp. Beyond its three talented leads, Camp Takota will also feature plenty of top YouTube talent: Chester See...

The Brothers Riedell have company. Matthias, a musician, effects artist, and sketch comedian who posts an assortment of videos to his YouTube page, has outlasted his fellow finalists to become Yomyomf's second Internet Icon. Matthias outlasted his two fellow finalists in a fan vote to claim the title, with The Kloons and Bad Weather Films having to settle for runner-up. The entire final episode ran for over 45 minutes and was streamed live via Yomyomf, where it is now available in its entirety. It is up for debate what the championship actually means for Matthias. The season one champions, The Brothers Riedell, have built a decent-sized fanbase, through runner-up Lana McKissack has amassed a slightly larger one (McKissack and fellow season one runner-up The Fu performed during the season two finale.) One of the Brothers' most visible appearance since their victory has been as the season two hosts? Will Matthias be...

Internet Icon has returned, and it's grown considerably since we saw it last. The first half-hour episode features 100 aspiring YouTubers and some critical analysis from the three judges. Season 1 began with 15 minute episodes before switching to a half hour format halfway through the season. This time, the 30 minute runtime is in place from the beginning, with the first half hour showing the 100 contestants who were handpicked by the Internet Icon team out of thousands of submissions. Unlike shows like X-Factor, where one of the main draws of the first round is watching Simon Cowell sardonically put down unworthy contestants, the criticism from Internet Icon's three judges is mostly positive. Ryan Higa, Christine Lakin, and Timothy DeLaGhetto tend to highlight each submission's high points, even for creators who they deem "not ready." When they praise a video, they do so without any criticism at all, and inter-judge dissent is rare.

Justin Lin's Yomyomf has been awfully quiet of late, but rumors of the YouTube Original Channel's death have been greatly exaggerated. Instead, Yomyomf is getting ready to ramp back up with the return of its flagship program, Internet Icon. After season one of Internet Icon scored millions of views and brought in tens of thousands of subscribers for winners The Brothers Riedell, season two is about to kick off with new contestant channels and a fresh list of YouTuber cameos. We spoke to the series' co-creator, Ryan Higa, about what we can expect from the new batch of episodes. Tubefilter: How does this season of Internet Icon differ from season 1? Ryan Higa: The second season of Internet Icon features a great new Judge, Timothy De La Ghetto! Returning from Season 1 with me judging will be Christine Lakin (Family Guy, Step by Step), Kassem G, and Jenna Marbles. We...

Erin go bragh! St. Paddy's Day is here, and plenty of popular YouTube channels are getting in the holiday spirit. Here's a look around at some of the videos we've seen this holiday weekend. Harley Morenstein and Hannah Hart are basically the king and queen of holiday videos. It seems as if every time a festivity rolls around, they each roll out a themed, drunken mess of a meal. This time around, Epic Meal Time has introduced the world to "Hulk turds." Don't question it, just watch. As for Hart, she has invited Mamrie from You Deserve A Drink on to her show for some Guinness and Jameson-infused Shamrock Shakes. Daily Grace takes a break from her own St Paddy's Day vlog to join in the fun, as depicted above. Chug, chug, chug! The best holiday video comes from Chester See, who created a cover of Rihanna's "Stay" alongside former Internet Icon contestant Lana McKissack.

We all want to be YouTube stars, but only some of us can sing in a baritone or play Minecraft. For everyone else, there's Yomyomf. As we've previously mentioned, Justin Lin's YouTube Original Channel is bringing back its Internet Icon reality show for a second season. With just under a week left for submissions, the Internet Icon team is still looking for talented YouTube people to show to all the other talented YouTube people who serve as judges on the show. Of course, undertaking such a bold public appearance requires help, which is why Yomyomf has enlisted the help of The Brothers Riedell, who will serve as the hosts and contestant mentors for Season 2. The Brothers won the first season of Internet Icon, so they know everything there is to know about suddenly becoming Internet famous and raking in more than 100,000 subscribers overnight. To encourage unknown YouTubers to join...
