If you like retro gaming, Gamesack is THE show.

A couple of years ago I searched for an alternative to the well known AVGN and stumbled over Gamesack.

After some episodes I was hooked. (as usual, with series).

Joe and Dave are such a sympathetic duo. First there was a release of an episode once a week (every sunday). Then they went down to twice a month, or every 2 weeks. Which was sad, but hey at some point they announced a longer hiatus. Damn, I thought they will never come back, but gladly they did, and hopefully they found their rhythm. I'd rather have 1 show every 2 weeks, than no more Gamesack, what a sad world that would be.

But its not only that the dudes are likeable, they really know a whole lot about games, and Joe is really a technic freak, always exciting to learn new interesting stuff about my childhood games and consoles.

The editing is also top notch and really not over done, it fits perfectly.

I love the humor, (I know it's not everyone taste for sure). You can clearly see that Joe and Dave are really close friends.

After every episode there is a little scripted story, so much fun to watch, always looking forward to these funny sketches. (poor Snatcher).

Every two weeks on sundays it's Gamesack time. The first thing I do after a new episode on youtube pops up, I check how long the episode is, hoping thats it's a least over 35 minutes. I mean do I have to say more?

These guys deserve so much more attention.

THE best youtube channel for gamers, srsly, dont miss it!

Long live Gamesack (and their producers)

The best video-game web series

YouTube is cluttered with amateur-ish shows dedicated to retro and current video games. Among the most popular are Classic Game Room (which I like, but gets sidetracked too often and rarely breaks formula) and the obnoxious Angry Video Game Nerd, which I find vulgar, immature, and frequently depressing. What a relief it was to discover Game Sack.

Hosted by Joe Redifer and Dave White, and shot mostly in Joe's living room/basement it rises above the usual amateur shows by having professional lighting, photography, editing and effects. Joe and Dave deadpan their way through their reviews with occasional humorous touches. I'm quite a foul-mouthed guy myself, but the fact that Game Sack is swears-free keeps it light and more accessible.

Each episode has its own theme, such as difficult games, under-rated games and a repeating focus on games that were only released in Japan. A recurring sub-theme on the show is the rivalry between Joe and Dave over Sega VS Nintendo. Neither can seem to convince the other, but it's a fact that Sega IS better. Occasional shots of Joe's video-game collection feature many Genesis and Sega CD titles. It's no average collection and probably worth a pretty penny. Joe and Dave seem to have extensive trivial and technical knowledge of video-game history. I love absorbing trivia, and Game Sack has plenty of it.

The hosts also seem to have access to virtually every video-game soundtrack ever produced, and use a dozen or so tunes in every episode. Most of time I agree with them on cool tracks, but some of the 8-bit stuff from the NES is painful.

The show is strictly limited to console video games, eliminating PC gaming and retro games for the C64 and Amiga completely. My console history goes Mega Drive CD-Gamecube-Wii-PS3, so a lot of the games reviewed are new to me. I realize now a lot of what I missed-out on.

Game Sack ought to be on network TV, a nice 19:00 time slot. Long may it continue.

Best Video Games Show in Existence

Game Sack is hands down the best show about video games I've ever seen (so far).

Retro gaming goodness with a substantial helping of current gen on the side, it's the perfect ratio.

Game Sack is very informative & well-rounded, while retaining high levels of creativity & humor from one episode to the next.

Overall, Game Sack is a very well-produced show. A show which I look forward too, and highly anticipate, each and every new episode!

If it's not a perfect 10/10, It's not far off, Maybe 9.5/10 would be a more accurate review.

Check it out! .
