A worker dons a protective suit and goes through an airlock to a city-chamber inhabited by mannequins. Technicians monitor his lifesigns, and the worker picks up the mannequins and changes them in a cart for new ones. He sees a whole bored in the wall and hits the alarm, and gas is poured into the chamber. The worker runs for the door and finds it locked against him, and then collapses against the observation window, covered in blood.
The Present
Rita goes to the basement and finds the rest of the Patrol there. She tell them that she's come up with a plan to change the future they saw, by doing the opposite of whatever they did to cause it. Rita has started by wearing flats instead of heels, and figures they need to start with the old barn where they fought the butts when the Patrol was zombies. Vic finally suggests that they change the world starting with a change in leadership. Rita calls for a vote and nobody votes for her, and everyone votes for new leadership. Despite that, Rita points out that the other aren't qualified, and wonders who else should be leader.
They tell Rogue that they want her to be leader, and Vic wonders if they need a former super villain. Larry points out that the only person they know wasn't responsible for the buttpocalypse was Rouge. Rita thinks that she should be leader because she worked out that Darrin Jones escaped so he must be the cause of the buttpocalypse after Zombie Jane bit him, so he must be a zombie. Rogue figures that the infected Darrin is still near the barn, and if they hurry and exterminate him then he won't cause the buttpocalypse. She wants to get the credit, pointing out she's been the one working to save them all. Vic tells Rita that he understands, but they're going with Rouge as leader. Rita says that she won't participate in a mission where she's not wanted, and storms off. Rogue tells the others that the mission requires perfection so they should stop and consider, and the others give her one hour.
As the others leave, Rogue talks to Cliff privately. She wants him to go on a secret mission to kill zombies and save the world.
2017: The Ant Farm
Dr. Margaret Yu arrives at the Farm and is told that the Farm was tasked with creating an indestructible force of nature as a weapon, and it succeeded. Yu's mission is to determine a way to control it. Butt zombies have overwhelmed the city-chamber, and Yu finds them beautiful.
The Present
Vic gets a text from Deric inviting him to a get together with their old friends..
Larry in in the greenhouse talking to Keeg, and asking it to believe Larry will make things all right. It emerges and Larry wonders what future-Keeg said to it. It flies off, and Rita comes in and accuses Larry of betraying her.
Jane is in her room pouring out the jigsaw pieces on the floor. There are no corner or edge pieces. Jane goes to the kitchen and finds Vic packing to leave. He tells Jane that Rouge and Cliff left on a mission without them, and Vic explains that he intercepted a transmission from the Bureau of Normalcy that there's another zombie butt out there, and he's going to intercept it. Vic invites Jane to come with him, and she accepts. They hear Larry and Rita arguing, and figures they should go without them.
Cliff and Rogue ride bicycles, but Cliff sees a junker in a ditch and goes to check it out. He tells Rogue that it's a '74 Grand Torino, and when of the first cars he bought. Fixing cars was the only thing Cliff's father was good at, and Rogue tells him to pop the hood. Cliff says that he's saving his first touch for his family, and she tells him that he's lucky to have a family and she knows she was alone in the future. Rogue figures they're both discarded relics, and a zombie Darrin drives by on a tractor, singing.
2017: The Ant Farm
Yu gets the zombie butts singing and dancing in chorus and shows them off to her superiors. A bored General Wampus, in charge, pounds on the glass. The butts go berserk and leap at the glass, and a higher-up tells Yu that we have what they need for weaponization. Yu insists that they can't weaponize a higher life form, and the higher-up tells Yu that weaponization is the fruit of progress. She says that Yu will be immediately reassigned, and demoted or worse if she continues her crusade.
The Present
Keeg goes into the mansion and hides in the wiring, and Larry tries to find it. Rita pops up and complains that Larry is more concerned about Keeg than her. Larry has enough and tells her that he had his reason, and Rita is a shitty team leader. He points out that when she came back from the past, she was broken and hasn't made Larry feel like anything other than a stranger since they came back. Larry says that he saw Keeg separated from him, and it wasn't Rita's fault. Now, Larry will do whatever he can to keep that from happening, If that means Rouge take charge of the team, so be it. Rita tells Larry that being team leader was all she had left, and now she has nothing, and storms off.
At a park, Vic tells Jane that his plan is that they'll pose as Bureau agents and go undercover. He figures that the Bureau will know if there's another butt on the loose. Jane wonders why he's acting if he wants to be team leader if he knows the others won't vote him in. Vic says that he's trying to save the world, and if they can do then maybe he can move on with his life. Jane figures that Vic is trying to be normal, and points out he keeps finding reasons to stay no matter how many times they save the world. He says that he just needs some time to himself, and wonders if Kay wants something different for Jane than what Jane wants for herself. Vic tells Jane that Kay did an interview with him, but gets interrupted when he receives a phone call.
Cliff and Rogue don scented helmets to cover up the smell of their brains, go to the barn to ambush Darren, and Darren goes past nearby, working on the farm. They approach Darren, who welcomes them to his farm. Darren explains that as an agent of the Bureau of Normalcy, he couldn't let himself eat human brains to sustain himself, so he revoked zombieism. Instead he works off the land tending the soil and growing prize tomatoes, isolating himself from tempting brains. Darren drops to his knees and tells Cliff to kill him, but Cliff would rather fight than do a mercy killing.
Rogue pulls off Cliff's scented helmet, and Darren smells Cliff's brains and uncontrollably attacks him. Cliff kills Darren, and Rogue remembers how she declared metas at the Ant Farm "weapons" and had them sent away. Cliff realizes that he inadvertently used his feeling hand, and zombie brains are the first thing he touched with it. He tells Rogue that she did the right thing, and that's why she's the leader. Cliff then says that they should go home.
The Butt Hunter, Ernest Franklin, arrives at the park in response to Vic's call. Vic asks for a full report and the Butt Hunter says that he was hired to round up the pack of butts. The majority have been safely recovered, but the last one was hard to track. The last one was sick, and Butt Hunter put it on ice to transport it. Vic, still posting as a BON agent, thanks Butt Hunter for his work and he goes back to get the containment box. Vic tells Jane that he move the BON meeting with the real BON agents up 45 minutes, so they're running late.
Butt Hunter brings them the zombie butt's containment box, and Vic and Jane take it away. The real BON agents pull up, and Butt Hunter realizes that he's been played.

Rogue watches Cliff from the shadows.

Jane watches the video of Kay's interview, where she wondered what the purpose of the Underground is. The girl wonders if the personas have more than just one purpose, to protect her, and Kay doesn't think she needs them to have that purpose anymore. Kay thinks they need a new purpose, but she doesn't know what it is and thinks they need to figure it out for themselves. Jane wonders what her purpose is if it isn't to protect Kay, and on the tape Kay says that Jane is feeling lost but if anyone can put the pieces together, it's Jane. Jane looks at the jigsaw pieces she has with her and considers.
