The Times tried to highlight some of the plusses of the programme in its TV listings write-up for this edition, though was also open about what they perceived as its failings.
"A return of the series that looks at the weird and wonderful and invites callers to discuss controversial subjects. As the programme is live it runs the risk of attracting foul-mouthed hoax callers, although Whale soons (sic) gets rid of them in his abrupt manner. But he tries so hard to be obnoxious that the programme often degenerates into a pretentious farce."
