This is yet another dam episode from "American Experience"...the same folks who did that excellent film on the Hoover Dam. In this installment, it's about the Grand Coulee Dam in the state of Washington and its effect on life in the Pacific Northwest. It follows the project from its inception to federal funding to completion to learning the great benefits and great losses caused by the dam project. While this all sounds like it would be rather boring, like nearly all of the episodes in the series it manages to make it about as exciting as it can and makes for a memorable show. Well worth seeing and an important lesson about how taming nature will definitely come with some unforeseen consequences.
