From author of the popular Clown in a Cornfield books comes Adam Cesare’s Influencer, a new horror novel that actually began its life as an Audible Original. But the paperback adaptation of the tale is said to be “new and expanded,” and it’s releasing October 1 Union Square & Co.
Bloody Disgusting has been exclusively provided with the cover reveal for Cesare’s Influencer, which features art by Tomasz Majewski. Check it out below and read on for more.
Cesare tells Bloody Disgusting, “I’m really proud of it. It’s a little bit more hardcore and disturbing than the Clown books, kind of a YA American Psycho/Funny Games/Silence of the Lambs cocktail, not really any of those things, but a tough book to comp out, since the plot is ‘a sociopathic instagram poet thinks he’s the next Charles Manson.’

These days it seems like everyone is on TikTok or has a YouTube channel. Simply talking to a camera and posting the video online will get you likes and follows and can also be your ticket to being an internet celebrity, which may or may not be a good thing. Far too many people are willing to do whatever it takes for online fame. There have been countless internet challenges leading people to film themselves doing all sorts of outrageous things, sometimes resulting in injury or death. In the age of internet culture, people have no shame and no fear, especially if it will make them famous.
In Epic Pictures’ Ghost Game, not too long after meeting on a dating app, deciding they were compatible and moving in together, Vin (Zaen Haidar) discovers his new girlfriend, Laura (Kia Dorsey), has been secretly breaking into houses at night to play the Ghost Game internet challenge.

Hollywood has fallen in love with two things in recent years: remakes and adaptations.
Television is flush with remakes of beloved classics. From sitcoms to dramas, a slew of programs are currently airing, with some getting a 21st-century reimaging that audiences have connected with.
There are also plenty of adaptations out there, beloved books that have spawned award-winning television fare, think Game of Thrones, and quirky romantic dramas with passionate fanbases like Virgin River.
Horror shows, in general, are hard to come by on television, though Disney+ has seen much success with its Goosebumps series, which was recently renewed for a second season.
Based on the Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine, the supernatural horror series brought in longtime readers of the popular books and new viewers experiencing the lore for the first time.
Perhaps the most well-known and popular adaptation of all time, The Walking Dead, still reigns supreme some fourteen years after its premiere,...

Bram Stoker Award-Winning author Adam Cesare released his original slasher novel Clown in a Cornfield in 2020, which Bloody Disgusting’s own Meagan Navarro called “a great retro slasher in the guise of Young Adult horror.” Meagan added, “Cesare applies an ’80s style slasher to a modern setting, complete with social relevancy, making the small town setting just as eerie as its homicidal, creepy clown. In other words, this author doesn’t water the horror down for its Young Adult demographic, making it an enjoyable read for any horror fan.”
Sequel novel Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives followed one year later, and Cesare is back Next Year with third installment Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo!
HarperCollins will release Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo on August 20, 2024, and Bloody Disgusting is exclusively debuting the book’s cover art this afternoon.
