Since ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ canceled and pulled the special from the air in 2022, the band had to premiere four live performances from the holiday special last year on December 13, 2023.
It was initially supposed to air on December 14, 2022. However, it suddenly got canceled on ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ after false sexual assault allegations against one of the Backstreet Boys members, who has since filed a defamation counter lawsuit against all three accusers. So it's unknown when it's going to air.
The band's first new holiday album, "A Very Backstreet Christmas," was released on October 14, 2022, and features some old favorites titles such as "Last Christmas," "The Christmas Song," "White Christmas," "Silent Night," and "Winter Wonderland," with two new originals, "Happy Days" and "Together," so the songs all five members will perform during their ABC holiday special are both the classics and new songs.
Special guests include Meghan Trainor, Rob Riggle, Nikki Glaser, Atsuko Okatsuka, Ron Funches, and Seth Rogan as the narrator.
