The elements required to be in "Sojourn" were as follows: a character named Russell or Rhoda Powers, a coach, a straw and the line of dialogue, "Let's keep it in the group."
The same creative team that worked on "Sojourn" at Crooked Lake Productions and 5k Insight created #FilmisinCO, a short film about the rising Colorado film industry. They finished the documentary one week before starting production on "Sojourn".
The genre, "Vacation or Holiday" was mandatory after a team member drew it from a hat at the 48 Hour Film Project kick-off.
"Sojourn" was made in 48 hours for the Denver 48 Hour Film Project competition.
When child actress Jadyn Beaver arrived for the film shoot she was told by the director that "Sojourn" was a movie about going to grandma's house. When she saw the ending at the film's premiere and the smokey sky came into view she glanced at her mom and said, "I don't remember that part."
