The film was shot over the course of 3 years in many different cities and with many different cameras & crews even though the story all takes place in one city over the course of only a week.
Many of the actors in the film are actual Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL) who were interviewed while attending the annual "Bricks By The Bay" Lego convention in San Jose, CA.
When Lomax Grandaminian's mom in the film asks him if he wants a "Peanut butter, jam, peppers and cheese and toast sandwich" that is reference to a song that the actor who plays Lomax actually recorded under his rapper name "The Alans."
The MOC (My Own Creation) that Ricky 6 builds in Round 1 of the competition is actually a Brix version of the company logo for the video production company that he worked for at the time - Windsong Productions. The MOC was designed by Carl Merriam, the actor who plays Rupert Cluff. Many of the other actors in the film work or worked at Windsong Productions including Byron Watkins, the actor who played Marvin Middleton.
Carl Merriam, who plays Rupert Cluff in the film, also created the majority of the Brix displays for the characters and competitions. He has since gone on to be a Master Builder for the Lego Corporation in Denmark.
