Poor direction!

NCIS is normally a great show but...This is hands down the worst episode of the season so far.

The costumed bear prologue in the beginning was totally lame. Since when does community service involve working with children?

The shaky camera work in the beginning literally gave me motion sickness. The listed director worked on the Blind Spot which was unwatchable for the same reason.

The rest of the show also demonstrates the director's ear fetish. Is it completely necessary to fill 1/8 of the screen with the side of somebody's head???

Please don't hire this director again if this is her style.

Second Opinion

Warning: Spoilers
This was one of those NCIS episodes that does not deviate too far from its usual scriptwriting formula and thus gives us too much of the same.

We did get Lexi Ainsworth in a brief guest spot, continuing the trend of soap stars making appearances on the NCIS franchise, but that's a small victory for the viewers. Other than that, just a by the book case with an extremely predictable ending.

NCIS has been okay this season despite losing its biggest name and some other key players leaving over the years, but we need them to be a bit more imaginative with the storylines moving forward if it wants to run for much longer.

An ok episode!

Warning: Spoilers
Marco Schnabel, the writer of this episode, has written a number of pretty good episodes. "Second Opinion" is not one of them. It's not bad, but it is not very exciting at the end of the day.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of "Second Opinion" are great as usual. The music fits the scenery and the acting's good, particularly from Ryan Masson. Personally did not any problems with the direction.

. The mystery occasionally intrigues. There are moments of tension. Liked the message: one has to be grateful for what he/she has got.

But....

. Not all of the jokes hit. The scene, where Casey drops her phone in a stomach of a body, wasn't funny at all. The rivalry between two medical examiners started promising, but got rather childish at times. The mystery itself feels "been there, done that", there are very few surprises in this story.

Overall, an ok episode.

5/10 HK.
