The big news is that FX announced that the Fox Soccer channel will be turned into a sister channel of FX. Fxx will focus on younger viewers than FX. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Legit and The League (which were all renewed for additional seasons) will move to the network along with Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, which will become a daily late night talk show. Combined, the two networks (along with the movie-focused Fxm channel) hopes to create 25 hours of original programming.

Exclusive: Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy star Tyne Daly is back at CBS with a co-starring role opposite Patrick Warburton in the network’s comedy pilot Jacked Up. Also joining the Sony TV project, written by Greg Malins and directed by Fred Savage, is The Artist‘s Missi Pyle. Jacked Up centers on Jack (Warburton), a beloved, recently retired baseball player who sets out to find a new purpose in life…starting with finding a wife with the help of his energetic and lovable best friend Barry (Rob Huebel). Daly, repped by Anonymous Content, will play Jack’s mother. She recently wrapped a starring turn on Broadway and the West End in Master Class. Pyle will plat Jack’s sister.

Childrens Hospital‘s Rob Huebel is set to star opposite Patrick Warburton in CBS/Sony TV’s comedy pilot Jacked Up. Written by Greg Malins and directed by Fred Savage, it centers on Jack (Warburton), a beloved, recently retired baseball player who sets out to find a new purpose in life…starting with finding a wife with the help of his energetic and lovable best friend Barry (Huebel), the divorced owner of the local sports bar. This marks the second pilot for Huebel, repped by UTA, Principato-Young and Karl Austen. He also has a guest star/potential recurring role in ABC’s comedy Bad Management. On the feature side, he starred in Hell Baby, which premiered at Sundance and was sold to Millennium Entertainment. Stand-up comedian Griffin Newman is set as a lead opposite another comedian, John Mulaney, in Mulaney’s untitled multi-camera NBC comedy pilot, from Lorne Michaels, 3 Arts and Universal TV.

It's looked like Rules of Engagement would be cancelled several times over the years but CBS has always ended up bringing it back. This time, it may be that the show doesn't return by mutual decision.
It was recently reported that David Spade had been signed to star in a new ABC pilot, Bad Management. Last month, Patrick Warburton was set to produce and star in a new sitcom pilot for CBS, Jacked Up.
Typically, these roles would be in second position to their parts in Rules but the five stars' contracts have all expired. Sony TV would have to renegotiate with the original cast for them to return to their roles and that seems highly unlikely to happen.
