James Avalon's initial entry in Sweet Sinner's THE STRIPPER series spotlights actress Jennifer White in a fine turn as May in the title role. The script credited to Avalon and Jet Michaels ultimately lets her down, but at least she got a fleeting chance to escape from a busy career devoted to gonzo or parody junk.

I didn't like Avalon's repeated returning to a sort of framing-device scene of May's boyfriend Charlie (Dane Cross) pleading with her outside her locked bedroom door to relent and give him a chance to reconcile. This throws the early sections of the film into flashback -in the manner of so many TV shows of late in order to create artificial suspense, and is unnecessary here.

Basically we see the problem caused by Charlie's lack of self-control. At the strip club where May works Charlie gets a lap dance from blonde stripper Chastity Lynn (she's a big Adult star but doesn't get a character name in this feature for some reason). Naturally this leads to sex, and as they're putting their clothes back on May catches them in the act - all hell's to pay.

This turns out to be a flashback, and when May finally relents and lets Charlie into the bedroom they are soon humping. She's beautiful but with a girl next door quality that is quite appealing. Sex scene three has her back at the club dumping off a regular pesky customer on fellow stripper Jayden Lee, who polishes off the inevitable (in a Sweet Sinner video) Mr. Pete with aplomb.

Storyline has our protagonists Charlie and May reconciled but facing financial difficulties. Charlie needs a big loan to finance his business plan but can't turn to his dad to help out since they are estranged. They're planning to get married, and while he's working on a bank loan May decides to take charge on her own.

She phones Alfred, an older guy who has always had the hots for her at the club, and offers to give him a private thrill dancing for him alone after hours at the club (and we know that XXX action will be part of the package). Staging of her entertaining Alfred is extremely impressive, with the striptease leading to humping atop a huge grey & red shoe sculpture on stage. Marcus London, another Sweet Sinner regular, is terrific in the supporting Alfred role.

Charlie's parents are visiting when May phones home with the good news that she has found the capital they need to fund Charlie's business (guess where and how). Climax when she arrives to meet the parents is so predictable I can't understand why James & Jet didn't work on a few dozen re-writes until they got it right, and it hurts the movie quite a bit. But it was nice to see Veronica Hart pop up briefly as mom.

Sex scenes, overlong as is mandatory with Sweet Sinner's "natural sex" format, are arousing and there are extras and large-scale stagings at the club to admire. The many extras go uncredited, though I couldn't miss spotting the fabulous Jenna J. Ross as a fellow stripper given a few lines of dialog but not much else to do. Marcus returns in the followup film in the series but in a different role.
