First, i wanted to say that i've discovered the entire "The Traitors" franchise 5 or 6 months ago.
I started with The Traitors Australia S01 and S02 (great show great host). And then watched S01 of The Traitors UK, US, NZ and now Canada.
Second, i remembered Karine Vanasse (the host) from the US ABC show "Revenge" with Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp. Karine did a great job as "Margaux LeMarchal".
Regarding her work as host on The Traitors, i have nothing bad to say frankly. In fact, for what seems to be her first hosting gig, i think she did a fairly good job. If i had to rank the hosts of all the
Traitors versions i've seen, i would rank her 3rd out of 5 (which is not bad at all).
1. Actor Rodger Corser, Traitors AU (hosted with flair and humour)
2. Actor Alan Cumming, The Traitors US (hosted with finesse, and nobody can"t resist a Scottish accent really)
3. Actress Karine Vanasse, The Traitors CAN (hosted with a little bit of "espièglerie" and panache)
4. The host of The Traitors UK... annoying
5. The host of The Traitors NZ... pompous and obnoxious
Regarding the show itself, i'm really irritated by what the producers of TT CANada did at the end.
To obtain the outcome they wanted, they blatantly and overtly screwed over the last remaining Faithfuls.
I found that really disgusting. I'm not naive to think that producers of others reality shows don't do that kind of things. They do for sure, but most seem to do it behind the scenes by (trying to) influence players during interviews and other interactions among other things.
But changing an established rule right after the very last roundtable voting, to prevent the banished player (Travon) from saying whether he was a Faithful or a Traitor was complete and utter BS.
Not being able to reveal that he was a Faithful, not only deprived him of that small satisfying/cathartic feeling when Faithfuls are wrongly banished, but more importantly it left doubts in the minds of the
remainings Faithfuls. Which was the goal of that producers's move, in order to help the last Traitor left in the game.
I do like to watch shows from the The Traitors franchise, but i also do recognise the flaw in the concept.
The Traitors know who they are. The Faithfuls do not. Therefore for the Faithfuls this game is a constant witch hunt, whereas for the Traitors it's a cake walk if they avoid doing or saying something stupid that could unmask them.
To me, the concept of this show would be equivalent of one where two group of contestants would play paintball inside a completely dark warehouse. The first group has night-vision goggles, the second one has nothing.
Doesn't really seems fair, does it? Yeah... that's kinda The Traitors concept.
I'm sorry but nobody should be helped by production (Traitors nor Faithfuls) and Traitors certainly don't need help given the massive advantage they have over the Faithfuls.
The way the producers helped Mike in order to have a Traitor win the first season was effing disgusting.
I hate production manipulation of any kind. I find it really shameful. It's also disrespectful to everyone.
The contestants who spent time and efforts, and the viewers as well.
Needless to say, i won't watch an eventual season 2 of The Traitors Canada.
