Shibuya begins!
and_mikkelsen11 September 2023
This was such a great, thrilling and emotional episode that somehow managed to stand out from the rest of the series with its great and creative fight!

This episode kicks off where the previous one ended.. Mechamaru vs Mahito! I really enjoyed this fight as it qas gradually getting more intense and emotional! One moment you think you know how it plays out and then.. nope! Very emotional and fitting! The fight itself was also very well animated with fluent movements and long-takes!

The last part of the episode sets up SHIBUYA INCIDENT and oh... not ready.. but can not wait! Next episode can not come fast enough!

Very Entertaining Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Im giving this episode such a high rating purely because of how entertaining it is. The story or writing is not a 10 so far but I know it will get closer to that in later episodes as this episode while brilliant still feels like build up. The main focus of this episode is on Mahito vs Kokichi or Mechamaru which is animated mostly to perfection despite a couple awkward sequences, such as Mahito falling from the dam. Some of the scenes with fantastic animation however may have seemed confusing and very difficult to understand due to ghosting and dimming. In my opinion dimming does not lower the quality of the animation significantly; ghosting on the other hand does (there will be no ghosting or dimming in the blu ray release however I have looked at the prices for the blu ray for the last season and it is relatively expensive). Ghosting means lowering the opacity of frames and blurring them together to meet Japans regulations (the studio has no control over this). The actual animation which is kaneda style animation for a large portion of the fight which looks very good aswell as many references to older mech anime such as Gurren Lagann, which I have not seen but will definitely be watching after seeing some clips. The second half of this episode switches to the start of the Shibuya incident this includes Gojos entry which I thought was well directed and the animation for the crowds in Shibuya was surprisingly good. After this episode or the next there will be a series of very unfortunate events which I am looking forward to seeing the translation into anime although it may be a painful watch. Mappas adaptation of this season has been leagues ahead of the first season so far hopefully this high quality continues.

Best fight of the season
camilormfl28 December 2023
The animation, the music, the dialogues and plot were absoutelly perfect! Without a doubt this was the best fight of the season and arguably top 3 in the series. I think I could watch this episode one million times without getting borred. I wish the animators had more time to make the Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight, so that it could have the same level of detail, I wish someday they will give the propper conditions so that episode reaches its full potential, but even in that scenario this episode will be one of my favorite fights of all time.

I seriously hope that Mappa keeps the good work going but also giving proper conditions to the animators.

Thirty first October in Shibuya Thirty first Episode

That Mechamaru vs Mahito fight was beyond all imagination

But...

Ladies & Gentlemen, Shibuya has officially started !!

No way Shibuya started on the 31st episode This a coincidence or what

Domain expansion!! Self-embodiment of perfection!!!

We get to see Mahito's HANDFUL domain animated once more.

Mechamaru only individual to snitch but has everyone's respect for he was doing them with the right reasons.

Who's Mechamaru? Sakugamaru! Episode was pure Sakuga. Unimaginable animation sequence when Mahito turns into a fish and hides by diving into the ocean or when he finds cover in the forest turning into several species.

Mechamaru only Jujutsu Kaisen character to beat a domain using simple domain.

That shows how much preparation Mechamaru has done to beat those 2. He's technically above the rest of the students atp in time.

What is going on? Really?

Warning: Spoilers
The first half of the episode was action-packed, but I must admit that I didn't find it particularly enjoyable. The rapid movement with ghosting and dimming made it challenging to follow the action, leading to some frustration on my part. At one point, a character was navigating through a jungle, but the sequence left me somewhat confused about their actions. Additionally, I wasn't a fan of the 2D background, and the overuse of ghosting and dimming frames further detracted from the overall quality of that segment.

Overall, the episode had its strengths and weaknesses, with the first half suffering from unclear action sequences and visual choices, while the second half showed promise in terms of story progression.

Where is this going?

Warning: Spoilers
Ok this episode like the previous one is losing me.

I loved the first half of the season because it had a story and good balance, but this is turning more into a showcase of what MAPPA can do than anything else.

Yeah the first part of the episode is entertaining, they went hardcore dynamic animation, it's fun I like it but why?

Why doing a complete Evangelion ripoff? I mean I'm all for easter eggs and such and it's fun to see a studio/creator add a little hint or.tribute to a well known title but this is pushing it at this point.. from the design, to the animation to the cockpit design, the "time" limit, the SCREAM, everything seriously.. was is just MAPPA wanting to flex on gainax or something?

That got me out of the episode completely by the end of the fight.. fight which outcome was settled before it even started.. which begs the question: why? Why do all this?

Maybe the next few episodes will bring some answers but so far the season is all over the place.

If I had to rate the studio's performance I'd give them a solid 9, but for the fun and story since the goto arc is finished, nothing more than a 4.

I hope things pick up from here (and not just by killing off characters "because it's the cool thing to do to be edgy")
