Just ok

Stéphane Bern is excellent in all his historical documentaries. But in this series where he wanted to test himself again as an actor, the result is just passable. Here he plays the role of a prosecutor who is uncomfortable after a disastrous conviction leading to suicide. He takes a leave to try, with his students, to exonerate his brother-in-law, accused of a crime.

The whole story is far-fetched, but can be easily watched if you don't expect a masterpiece. The second episode is a little better constructed, but still not very credible. And the inspector is still as bad as ever.

We should see 2 other episodes of the same kind. It will be time to stop this series after that, and return to History Secrets.

Routine

It started off Ok with a decent prosecutor trying to redeem a terrible event in his legal life by informally investigating a case related to his family, to avoid another miscarriage of justice.. He starts as a sympathetic character, I suppose, but ends up one-dimensional. After that nothing was believable, and none of the various characters convinced. Just going through the motions. I watched this on Channel 4 Walter Presents, and all the recent French offerings have been poor. Nice scenery, a plot that promises more than it produces, and who cares really? I wanted to be engaged with at least one of the characters, but no, none of them drew me in, so I didn't care who did what to whom. Disappointing.
