Days after being absent from his annual duty as moderator for The Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con, Chris Hardwick has been given the green light by AMC today to return on-air after allegations of sexual assault and emotional abuse by an ex-girlfriend.
“Following a comprehensive assessment by AMC, working with Ivy Kagan Bierman of the firm Loeb & Loeb, who has considerable experience in this area, Chris Hardwick will return to AMC as the host of Talking Dead and Talking with Chris Hardwick,” the cabler said in a statement Wednesday. “We take these matters very seriously and given the information available to us after a very careful review, including interviews with numerous individuals, we believe returning Chris to work is the appropriate step.”

Hours and hours after Chloe Dykstra implied that Chris Hardwick sexually assaulted her while they were involved, the Talking Dead host has strongly denied the claims of his former girlfriend.
“These are very serious allegations and not to be taken lightly which is why I’ve taken the day to consider how to respond,” said Hardwick in a statement Friday night. “I was heartbroken to read Chloe’s post. Our three year relationship was not perfect—we were ultimately not a good match and argued—even shouted at each other—but I loved her, and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her.”
Hardwick went on to detail the circumstances of their eventual separation, seemingly quote from Dykstra and how he was “blindsided” by her online account earlier today.

Did I tell you Cosplay has hit the mainstream in a big way or did I tell you Cosplay has hit the mainstream in a big way? Never in a million years would I ever think to be announcing a reality competition solely based on costume making but here we are and Syfy just announced a series called “Cosplay Melee.” While there was some controversy surrounding a project called “Heroes of Cosplay” Syfy has given the green light on Cosplay Melee. It’s a competition styled reality show featuring four cosplayers who battle it out to see who can do the

Cosplay has taken over as king of geekdom. Every year, more and more people turn out in droves to their local (sometimes international) anime/gaming/science fiction/anything geek convention dressed up as their favorite fictional (sometimes even non-fictional) characters. It has become such a huge phenomenon that it is almost considered mainstream culture, with shows like Heroes of Cosplay attracting millions of viewers to watching these people build and wear their costumes (or showcase their cleavage, some might argue).
At the same time, cosplay has attracted its detractors. Many artists, most notably Pat Broderick of Marvel and DC fame, have actually attacked cosplay for damaging the geek convention industry, declaring that cosplayers bring “nothing of value” to their shows. While this is a discussion to be had in a whole new article, the fact is that cosplay is here to stay, and it is only getting bigger.

Video Games: The Movie takes a breezy tour of history, but shows mainstream gaming in a less than favourable light, Ryan writes...
There is no propaganda in the Star Wars movies. You don't see posters devoted to praising Emperor Palpatine's benign leadership. You don't see adverts or bill board posters positioning Darth Vader as a wheezing man of the people.
But if you did see propaganda in the Star Wars universe, it might look a little bit like Video Games: The Movie - a slickly-produced, 105-minute hymn to an industry that is itself an all-conquering empire. Valued at approximately $66bn in 2013, gaming is now the most lucrative form of entertainment on the planet - and filmmaker Jeremy Snead's documentary charts the medium's rise with unquestioning fervour, from its bleeping, rudimentary inception in the middle of the 20th century to its technically astonishing achievements in the present.

Vern Yip confirmed to Access Atlanta that Hgtv has cancelled Hgtv Design Star. Yip said ratings were still good, so I’m guessing a bigger issue is that later seasons of the show never found a designer who matched the impact of David Bromstad.
Matt Smith says he’s already asking when Doctor Who will do a story featuring multiple Doctors, so he can return to the series. As long as they manage to keep these meetings of the Doctors from feeling commonplace, I’m all for it.
The Daily Beast declares that last week’s Modern Family wedding was a “landmark moment for marriage equality” for a variety of reasons. That includes Modern Family position as a mainstream hit, the fact that their wedding was a special episode but not a “very special” episode and that the couple involved were a regular characters with a prominent role every week.
