In the Shadows of Stumps: Karachi's Cricket Odyssey of Dreams, Determination, and Family Ties.
mish-9527327 January 2024
Nayab, much like its name suggests, has become a rare and precious cinematic gem for me. The spectrum of emotions it evoked, from the beginning to the end - happiness, excitement, passion, love, desire, need, pride, anger, fury, outrage, resentment, sadness, grief, sorrow, and most importantly, a profound love for Pakistan - left an indelible mark. The interactions between Nayab and Akka, whether solo or together, are nothing short of phenomenal and spectacular. Yumna Zaidi's performance is mind-blowing, the best as always and I'll forever be a fan of her and she stayed true to words the audience will connect and relate with all characters specifically (Nayab and Akka). Fawad Khan, you made me cry, especially in that unforgettable scene. Usama Khan, portraying the ideal support every girl desires in a partner. Kudos to the entire cast, director Umair Nasir Ali, producers, and the rest of the Nayab team. It's truly worth your time - go, immerse yourself, and enjoy Nayab: The Movie."

Glimpse of actual life at Khi with full of emotions
engrshaikhwaqas11 February 2024
This movie revolves around a middle class family in which a girl has passion for playing cricket but her circumstances are not allowing her. Nayab, a middle-class girl, full of passion, dreams of making it big in the competitive world of cricket. This movie is full of drama, minute details, emotions, siblings bond and actual hurdles which arrives in once's life.

Nayab and her brother acting was really auspicious, also Javed Shaikh played fabulous role of nayab father. I enjoyed minute details that defines life at Karachi in different phases.

On the whole a must watch Family movie that you will never regret. I have enjoyed with my friends and family.

Experiencing this film was pure joy! The narrative was enthralling, the visuals awe-inspiring, and the soundtrack utterly enchanting. Nayab has undoubtedly raised the bar for Pakistani cinema. The portrayal of Karachi was refreshing, revealing both its beauty and its gritty reality in a whole new light. The Nayab's cricketing journey was as insight to the physical and emotional struggles our cricketers go through. The acting was at par with international standards, some of the veterans and other new faces did a phenomenal job. Wishing the whole team success and looking forward to the next masterpiece.

A must watch
sharram28 January 2024
Beautiful performance by Yumna Zaidi and usama...unique storyline..not the traditional same story. Very beautifully written and shot. A strongly woman oriented movie while allowing room for other characters to develop. Yumna's role is perfectly played and her hardwork is seen throughout. I didnt expect such a story to evoke emotions while be light and fun. Light makeup makes her character more real. Usama also delivers quite well along with the other characters. It may not be a story everyone appreciates but the acting certainly made the difference.

Certainly far from.the typical written storylines out there. Songs are ok. Movie couldve been a little shorter but beautiful overall.

"Nayab Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan's on-screen collaboration in their latest movie is truly commendable. The duo brings a refreshing chemistry that adds depth and authenticity to the narrative. Yumna Zaidi's nuanced performance showcases her versatility as an actress, seamlessly transitioning between moments of vulnerability and strength. The movie's success is not only attributed to the stellar performances but also to the well-crafted storyline and engaging direction. Nayab and Usama effortlessly capture the audience's emotions, making the viewing experience memorable. The film strikes a perfect balance between romance, drama, and suspense, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

Furthermore, the cinematography and soundtrack contribute significantly to the overall impact of the movie. Outstanding, game changer for Pakistani cinema
dvgqcrb8 February 2024
A beautifully written and directed movie that really struck a cord with me and many of the audience. A thought provoking approach to a tricky subject in an evolving nation. The acting was first rate, particularly Yumna Zaidi (probably her best performance to date) and Jawed Sheikh sahab with a masterful display as always. The cinematography was top class. Great sound track with upbeat music. Quite a departure from normal subcontinent cinema with more focus on the storyline, character and relationship development. Very refreshing and I think will resonate with local audiences in Pakistan but also in the diaporic pakistan communities living across the world. Definitely worth watching with family.

NAYAB THE FILM IS ALL ABOUT EMOTIONS!
asratufail5 February 2024
Anyone who feels for every little thing and have dreams and goals to achieve in life would find this film so relatable. The film has some flaws too but those flaws are so minor ones that one can keep those at one side and enjoy the emotional roller coaster ride.

The strong narrative and spectacular performances by every actor are the limelight of the film! One cannot point out any one performance as weak, all the actors have performed so well.

Also, how a normal middle class family survives within the society, how a man, who has to play all the roles of a son, a brother, a husband and a father, has left his passion and dreams behind and takes complete responsibility of the family, this is done in such a convincing manner that while watching it we could feel for Akka.

Likewise, the girl, Nayab, her struggles, her aggression, her passion and how she fights against all the odds and achieves her dream is so beautifully done by Yumna Zaidi. Yumna has aced it. There is no doubt in it that when Yumna opts a character, then you will not see her, instead, you will see the character and you would feel for that character. That's how beautifully Yumna performs.

The chemistry between Nayab and Zain (played by Usama Khan) could be seen, although the screen time for their scenes was less but still every time they came, it felt good to see them.

Every character in the film, be it Zain (played by Usama Khan), Sarwar Sir (played by Muhammad Ehtishamuddin), Sadia (played by Noreen Gulwani), the coach (played by suneel shankar), the girl beena (played by Sana Taj) and I am forgetting the name of the character who was in the college, who encouraged Nayab to play sport, all the characters are fitted so well.

While watching it one doesn't feel that any of the character is forcefully put into the story. All characters have their value to be added to the narrative. Lastly, the character of Shahid sahab (played by Javed Sheikh), it was so emotional. The scenes of Akka and Nayab with their father were so emotional. One cannot stop the tears from dropping due to the intense emotions portrayed by the actors on screen.

Also, the way some scenes were shot leaves a mark on you as an audience, for example, the scene that was in the ground between Akka and Nayab, the scenes in the cricket academy between Sarwar Sir and Nayab were so amazingly done that one feels the fear that Nayab must be feeling.

Coming to the music, it was soothing, the lyrics were so beautifully written that it gives you a pure Pakistani vibe. All the songs, mental sa dil, shendi, Junoon, Iraaday, Nayab anthem, all gives you a soothing and fun vibe. You don't feel bored.

The only point that I felt could have been improved was the sequence of shendi song and the initial karachi strike scene, which was later repeated again and then the reason was disclosed. And the funeral scenes I felt could have been avoided, I felt it was not needed. I felt the first half was dragged a bit, but the 2nd half was so crisp and kept me hooked emotionally into the story.

At the end, I felt there should have been at least 2 or 3 more scenes added to show the bond of nayab with her parents and her relation with Zain as well. Also, I felt that the tournament scenes could have been added more to show Nayab's cricketing style on international platform. As an audience, I wished to see those scenes, which I missed seeing it. Overall, the movie is full of emotions and drama. I enjoyed it.

I would give it 3.8 stars out of 5.

A must-watch!

The film * NAYAB* is a worthwhile watch. On a scale from zero to ten, I give this film a nine. This movie.literally brought tears to my eyes. I highly recomend this movie to all my friends to go and watch. I personally liked the acting of Akbar and the female lead, rest were also good. The script and concept of the movie was also real and original. Also i feel that some filmi masala was missing in the movie. Overall the movie and the direction at its best.

All the best to this movie and love.

More Than Just Cricket

NAYAB - The Film left me deeply moved and inspired. Witnessing a young woman chase her extraordinary dream, defying the odds, was beautifully told. Huge thanks to Umair Nasir Ali and Rumina Umair for this powerful and impactful piece of Pakistani cinema!

"Nayab" is more than just a sports film; it's a powerful human story that will stay with you for long. Whether you're a cricket fan or not, prepare to be moved, inspired, and reminded that dreams can indeed take flight, even against all odds.

The cinematography captures the beauty of Pakistan's landscapes and the intensity of the cricket matches. The music adds another layer, perfectly complimenting the emotional journey.

Must watch!
rabeeaarif4 February 2024
Nayab holds true to its name as a story that is unique and yet it is told so realistically that every situation, every relation and every turmoil feels close to home. It is an emotional treat where the humour isn't over the top, rather comes from everyday situations and characters we've all known around us, and the sorrow comes from heart-wrenching moments that are unexpected yet believable. The lead and supporting actors did an ace job portraying the story of pretty much every middle-class Pakistani household where parents hold their fears closer than their children. Fawad Khan as Akka definitely pulls at our heartstrings as the elder brother / father figure every younger sibling needs. The music is not to be missed, it is light and catchy at times and melancholic at others. Natasha Ejaz's rendition of Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poetry is the highlight of the movie's soundtrack. Nayab is a breath of fresh air amongst over-the-top commercial films and a must watch for everyone rooting for new wave cinema.

Beautifully directed by Umair and equally acted by entire team of Nayab. Songs are melodious and well written and fits really nicely with the situations. Great motivational story specially for our young generation. A story you can relate to. Typical middle class struggle. Jist of the film is Dream Big, work hard and no one can stop you. Must watch. We watched the movie in UK and it really made our weekend. Full on entertainment. Kids equally enjoyed as my son plays cricket. Great effort put by the team Nayab considering debut films for many artists and for the film makers. Congratulations and more success to come in future.

Breath of Fresh Air!
aliahmed-0464610 February 2024
Amidst the typical Pakistani movies which either showcase larger than life stories and characters or focus too much on ultra serious issues, Nayab is truly a breath of fresh air with its storyline depicting a typical Middle-class family living in Karachi.

The movie not only highlights the struggles a woman goes through in our society to make a name for herself but also beautifully shows the role of an elder sibling in our families.

With its effortless punchlines, display of emotions, family drama, Nayab is a must watch Pakistani film that will keep you hooked till the end.

PS: the detailing in the art direction, background dialogues and subtlety in various scenes are really captivating.
