Rihanna‘s songs have changed pop culture forever. That doesn’t mean she thinks all of them are great. She had mixed feelings about her first single, coating it to a nursery rhyme. One of the song’s writers said the tune would set her on the path to becoming pop culture royalty.
Rihanna wasn’t too impressed with 1 song when she heard it over the phone
“Pon de Replay” was co-written by Alisha Brooks, Vada Nobles, Carl Sturken, and Evan Rogers. It’s not one of the more sophisticated tunes in her catalog but it’s undeniably catchy. On top of that, artists rarely debut with their best work. During a 2020 interview with Vulture, Rogers revealed that Rihanna had misgivings about the track. “I played it for Rihanna over the phone,” he recalled. “She was like ‘Uncle Ev, it sounds like a nursery rhyme. I like it, but I don’t know.

It looked like life-long bonds were formed on Netflix’s Outlast. However, there was also trust that was broken. Jill Ashock revealed she doesn’t plan to speak to Justin Court again after working together.
[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers from Outlast Season 1 Episode 8.]
What happened between ‘Outlast’ contestants Jill Ashock and Justin Court?
The season started with the 16 contestants randomly picking their teams. Amber Asay, Lee Ettinger, Ashock, and Court made it into Camp Alpha on the reality TV show. But it was clear that Ashock wasn’t looking forward to working with other people, and neither was Court. The show, which has actor Jason Bateman as an executive producer, has one rule. They have to be in a team to win.
“Man-Down” showed Ashock and Asay hiking to the island while low-tied to find their crab traps. This was after Court failed to complete the raft after all the other camps. The women were...

Taskmaster seems to be one of those magically perfect TV shows, but of course the root of its genius isn’t magic at all: it’s a whip-smart combination of Alex Horne’s original format, the comedic force of nature that is Greg Davies in the role of the Taskmaster, and relentlessly good casting.
As we’ve said before, there’s no such thing as a bad series of Taskmaster, and we’re sure Series 15 will be no different, but until it arrives, what should fans fill their time watching?
Take a look at these similarly delightful TV shows, including plenty featuring previous Taskmaster series alumni:
Man Down (Channel 4)
Starring the Taskmaster himself Greg Davies, this Channel 4 sitcom centres on his character Dan, a frankly terrible schoolteacher who is having an infinitely amusing midlife crisis. As you can see from the clip above, it’ll please fans of Davies’ scathing takedowns,...

Exclusive: Oscar- and Emmy-nominated producer David Permut and Dawn Krantz have acquired Chaya Doswell’s script Wildfire. The team is currently meeting directors and plans to shoot early next year.
After accidentally starting a wildfire, 7-year-old Lu, mute and from an abusive home, slyly tricks Merribelle, a hardworking trans woman, into kidnapping her — sparking a beautifully unexpected bond with a devastating expiration date.

Doswell is a screenwriter and playwright from New York City. Her most recent film was an adaptation of her play Everyone I Love is Dead with Braid director Mitzi Peirone. Doswell is currently writing the fantasy adventure Carlos Luckybo with two-time Oscar winner Rick Carter.
“The emotional and compelling story is reminiscent of two of my favorite films: Peter Bogdanovich’s Paper Moon and Sean Baker’s Tangerine,” Permut tells Deadline about Wildfire.

Gwyneth Powell, who starred in the BBC’s long-running kids drama series Grange Hill as Bridget McClusky has died aged 76, her agent confirmed Monday (12 September).
Her representative, Matthew Lacey, said in a statement on behalf of the family that the actor died after “complications following a major operation for a perforated colon”.
Per the BBC, he added that she “passed away peacefully” with her husband, actor Alan Leith, and niece beside her last Thursday (8 September).
“Gwyneth will be greatly missed by her adoring family and friends along with her many fans from multiple TV appearances,” he added.
Powell played Mrs McClusky, arguably Grange Hill School’s best-known head teacher, for eleven series between 1981 to 1991.
“At first, Mrs McClusky was written as a ‘twin set and pearls’ role, but I was quite young at the time and didn’t want to play it like that,” she told the BBC in 2008.

Below is the complete list of everything leaving HBO and HBO Max in January 2022, which includes some classic “Planet of the Apes” films, Ben Affleck’s Oscar-winning “Argo” and 1988’s “Married to the Mob,” among others. If you’re looking for noteworthy titles to add to your watchlist before they depart, “Lincoln” is one of Steven Spielberg’s best, “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” is a handsome and nail-biting spy thriller and “The Fisher King” is a great two-hander with Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams.

Back when WarnerMedia (which technically no longer exists in the same form) announced that it would be premiering its entire slate of 2021 films on HBO Max, this is the kind of month they likely had in mind. For HBO Max’s list of new releases in August 2021 is highlighted by an honest-to-goodness blockbuster.
The Suicide Squad is set to premiere Aug. 5 on HBO Max. This film featuring some of DC Comics’ most curious villains borrows its name, format, and many of its characters from the David Ayers-directed 2016 film Suicide Squad. This time around, the rogues gallery is directing by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and his colorful disposition. In addition to The Suicide Squad, August sees the arrival of the Hugh Jackman-starring Reminiscence on Aug. 20.

Contains spoilers for the Taskmaster series 11 finale
The suit. The ‘tache. The smile. The preternatural speed with which he’s able to snatch a marshmallow from an opponent using a pair of kitchen tongs. There’s a great deal to admire about Taskmaster series 11 contestant Mike Wozniak, so admire him we will. Right here. Starting now. Tick tock: it’s Wozniak o’clock.
Who is Mike Wozniak?
He’s an absolute bloody milk guzzler, that’s who.
Like Harry Hill, Graham Chapman, Graeme Garden and Paul Sinha before him, Mike Wozniak trained and worked as a doctor before becoming a stand-up. Healthcare’s loss was comedy’s gain. His 2013 Edinburgh Fringe show, in which Wozniak played an outmoded light entertainer, received a Best Comedy Show nomination.

George Lopez has joined the cast of Dito Montiel’s “Afterward.”
It’s unclear what role Lopez will play in the dramatic thriller, but he joins an ensemble that includes Aaron Eckhart and Terrence Howard. Lionsgate Grindhouse is distributing the film in North America. “Afterward” will shoot this winter in California. Angel Oak Films is backing the movie and pre-sold foreign rights. Production was supposed to begin in the spring, but was delayed due to Covid-19.
The film centers on a father’s struggle to deal with the passing of his daughter, which leads him on a quest for truth and justice against corruption and small-town politics.
Montiel made his feature directorial debut with 2006’s “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.” His other credits include “Fighting,” “The Son of No One,” “Empire State,” “Boulevard,” “Man Down” and “The Clapper.”

10 short weeks ago, none of us had seen Richard Herring feed half a watermelon to a slathering Daisy May Cooper, and frankly, we were the worse off for it. Neither had we witnessed The It Crowd’s Katherine Parkinson philosophically asking “Am I the spider?”, known how rigorously Johnny Vegas would apply himself to the task of putting the heaviest thing through a Christmas tree-bagger, or enjoyed Mawaan Rizwan thinking that if he filled an egg with helium, it would float like a happy little bee. All these, the tiny joys of a new series of Taskmaster.

Prevenge is the brilliant and off-the-wall writing and directing debut feature by Alice Lowe (Sightseers). She wrote, starred in, and directed it whilst 7-8 months pregnant with her first child, who also appears in the film. Alice was one of the Bifa nominees for ‘best debut director’.
Known for her work as a UK television comedy actress, Alice Lowe made her move into film with her screenwriting debut Sightseers, directed by Ben Wheatley, in which she also starred as the hapless Tina. After premiering at Cannes, Sightseers went on to receive several accolades, Empire’s Best British Film, as well as acting and screenplay awards for Alice.
Official synopsis:
A pitch black, wryly British comedy, Prevenge follows Ruth, a pregnant woman on a killing spree that’s as funny as it is vicious. It’s her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth’s actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father.

In 2012, it became BBC Three's biggest ever sitcom, and in 2015, a third series was announced - but the path to success for Cuckoo has been far from smooth.
After a first series delivered record-breaking ratings, the show lost its star (more on that later) - but it emerged rejuvenated two years on, its second run charming audiences all over again.
Cuckoo - the story of an eccentric bohemian who infiltrates a straight-laced, middle-class family - was originally devised by writing partnership Robin French and Kieron Quirke as a vehicle for Us comedian Rob Schneider, who was contemplating a move to the UK.
When the project finally materialised, Schneider was no longer attached - with another American actor and comic, Andy Samberg, cast in the title role, alongside a cast which included Greg Davies as the uptight Ken and Helen Baxendale as his wife Lorna.

Greg Davies has reflected on his "difficult year" after the loss of both his father and his friend Rik Mayall, who played his on-screen dad.
Davies starred as Mayall's son in the Channel 4 sitcom Man Down, before the Young Ones star died at the age of 56 last year.
"My dad died a couple of months after Rik, it was a difficult year," Davies told the Radio Times.
"It's a unique set of circumstances. It was incredibly sad. I was very close to my dad."
Davies explained that he would not consider hiring another actor to replace Mayall on Man Down.
"Rik was the dream casting for me. He was a childhood hero of mine, and I look like him. And he was beloved, as you saw when he died," he said.
"The adoration poured out for him. So never for a second did I think, 'That's Ok, we'll just get another dad in'.

Happy Mondays frontman and former I'm a Celebrity star Shaun Ryder is among the stars taking part in this year's Celebrity Come Dine with Me Christmas special.
Ryder's meal apparently has a "Madchester" theme and is designed to be a "right festive rave up". Not surprisingly, the singer's menu does include melons.
Joining Ryder on the show are Coronation Street actress and glamour model Helen Flanagan, comedian Mark Dolan and TV presenter Kirsten O'Brien.
Flanagan offers her fellow celebs a "sparkly Christmas party", while O'Brien takes the stars back to her roots with a Scandinavian theme.
Dolan's party has a distinct twist as he serves up a Dickensian Christmas with "pea soup, a three-bird roast and a very plum duff".

We have been bombarded with superhero movie news as of late. Civil War is coming to Marvel’s world, we have a big X-Men event coming, Spider-Man is stuck in a web at Sony, and now WB just revealed 10 new films through 2020. Even as a comic book fan this deluge feels overwhelming, so I can’t imagine viewing it as an average movie goer. To help, I’m breaking down the two major universes for you, their latest news, and explaining why it has the fan community buzzing!
Marvel’s Civil War
What It Is: In this storyline, the stable of Marvel heroes find themselves on opposite sides of a political conflict. In the comics, a law was coming out that required all heroes to register and give up their secret identities to the government. The registration is due to some young heroes in the comics that accidentally set off a bomb.

[This post contains details from the third season premiere of Chicago Fire, which aired Sept. 23]
The Chicago Fire season 3 premiere picks up seconds after Boden yelled the words that have been ringing in fans’ ears for months: “Report! Anyone from House 51, report!”
Just like that, we’re inside the house, waiting to find out which character won’t be making it out alive. First up, we see that Severide is okay. Then the camera starts to pan around the burning room. We see Casey, Otis, Herman, Mouch, and others. But then someone utters those two dreadful words: “Man down.” The room stills as the men uncover Mills’ body. Could we be saying goodbye to our favorite cook?...

It probably comes as no surprise that The Inbetweeners 2 has set a brand new record for the ‘Opening day for a comedy in the UK’ beating the record set by its predecessor in 2011. The sequel has brought in a whopping in £2.75m in one day.
The second movie sees the four bumbling fools Will, Simon, Jay & Neil (played by Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison) and head to Australia on a gap year and we’re promised the movie is bigger, ruder and funnier than the first. The fact so many if us Brits flocked to the cinema yesterday to see it is a testament to the popularity of the show which started on Channel 4 and ran for 3 series climaxing in the big screen treatment in 2011 with The Inbetweeners Movie.

Bosses of TV channel Dave are deciding when to air an episode of a show that Rik Mayall filmed before he died.
The comedian recorded an episode of Crackanory, a grown-up version of children's story-telling show Jackanory, before his sudden death on Monday (June 9).
A spokesperson for the channel said they would discuss a suitable time to screen the episode with his family before airing it as a tribute to Mayall.
Dave general manager Steve North said: "It was a complete privilege for Dave to work with Rik for Crackanory. Clearly at this tragic time our thoughts are with his friends, colleagues and family."
A spokesperson for Channel 4 also spoke about the possibility of continuing comedy Man Down without Mayall, who starred as the father of Greg Davies's lead character Dan.
