The Volkswagen Beatle featured in the film was actively breaking down at the time of filming. In some scenes the car isn't even running, instead being rolled in neutral with the lights on. On the way back from filming, it finally broke down and had to be towed.
The bulk of the movie was filmed in two days over a single weekend.
This movie was digitally shot on an android phone and then run through a VCR multiple times to give it an authentic VHS look.
This movie was heavily inspired by the reality television show "Big Brother," both Stephen King and Stanley Kubrick's versions of "The Shining," and "The Blair Witch Project." It also samples heavily from "Night of the Living Dead," which is in the public domain.
During post-production the entire movie was almost lost due to a hard drive failure. The majority of the files were recovered, but a few of the damaged files were deliberately used as a stylistic choice.
