Disney Jr?
rjrs19982 March 2024
It seems like they took all the things people loved about the original movie and threw it in the trash, and took the other parts and turned it into a Disney Jr movie. First not sure why they thought that the movie would do good without the original cast. Second, the writing... how did they write all of that and got it approved... who approved the writing, who approved the new animation? Who approved ruining what magic the original movie had? Honestly... this movie is a great example of what you should not do when writing a sequel of a great movie. Nobody wanted a sequel... and what they wasn't a sequel... it was a Disney Jr movie that was worse than a Disney Jr movie.

WTF is this!
Anger2461 March 2024
This is NOT my Megamind and heres why.

They did not bring back any of the original cats from the first movie. The girl is super annoying, the very low quality animation. It is just a cheap waste of time for a sequel for this. The plot makes no sense whatsoever and just got completely scrapped from what we saw in the first movie. We NEVER saw Megamind having a crew in the first movie and the story is just dumb and out of place. The animation just sucks in general like there was no effort put into this.

If you want to watch Megamind that was perfect in every way. Watch the first movie, do not waste your time on The Doom Syndicate.

Couldn't even finish it
jrcfrontrunner3 March 2024
The original Megamind was hilarious and well made. I saw this on Peacock, and thought it would be a fun watch. I was so wrong. It took me a minute to realize that it was a new voice cast. The. The old thing about changing Minon's name to "ol' chum" like seriously WTF, such a stupid decision. The plot was terrible, it's been 14yrs since Megamind and they have this pick up just days after the end of the original. They could have put a few years in between them, and then continue to develop him as a hero. The real Megamind would never have treated Minor that way. He never would have let him walk away in the beginning. They were best friends. Terrible movie wish I could give it a 0/10.

This movie sucks in comparison to the amazing first
nikkebaby1 March 2024
This movie was the worst garbage. The only movie I could compare it to is what's up (which for those who don't know what that is it's a terrible up rip off). Everyone moves so freaking weirdly in it and it's terrible. The jokes are not funny at all. One of the jokes was "I didn't know mayoring was gonna be so hard" that is the worst joke of all time. The villains didn't even make sense to be in the universe megamind takes place in because the reason megamind exists is because he's an alien from another planet, one of the villians an actual shadow and another one of the villians is a lava rock monster. This movie had a terrible plot and the voice acting is terrible and the animation is terrible and all of the lines/attempts at jokes are terrible and everything about the movie is terrible. 1.2/10.

Why?
dannnibolton2 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I have barely finished watching this trash of a movie and i want to cry. The plot makes no sense at all. In the first movie he is suppose to have no friends but Minion. Then out of nowhere apparenty he has "friends". But giving him friends defeats the whole purpose of the first movie . Another thing, not a single person from the original cast was in this movie, and I wonder why. If I got a dollar for every cringy joke I heard in this movie I would be rich. You know the animation was low budget when you first saw the trailer. My two year old cousin could make better animation than that, without trying. Also why did they think "oh lets add an annoying character everyone is going to hate" she ruined the movie even more by talking. One more thing every character looks high.

Megamind? More like smooth brain
cameyjonah3 March 2024
If I could rate this a zero, I would. This movie is straight up trash. It was so bad to the point that they couldn't even get Will Ferrell or Brad Pitt in the movie. Instead they got new guys that sounded nothing like the original movie characters. The story was off, horrible set of screen writers, animation was low budget, and it was boring. We all know and love Megamind, but in this one I want to throw my remote at the TV. And also, this film was supposed to hit theaters. But since the budget was low, it's getting straight to peacock! This is unacceptable. The TV series is way better, but still not good. If Dream-works makes a new movie, I'm not bothering to see it. This ruined the franchise. Very disappointing.

Looks like the Sims
andreiusdavidescu1 March 2024
Holy this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen the animation looks like it's from that kids show Miraculous Ladybug or from the game Sims. All I wonder is just why? The whole time I was watching this thing I was wondering why make another Megamind movie? Why give me brain cancer because I watched this thing.

After I watched Megamind doom syndicate some people told me that apparently there is also a series called Megamind Rules.

And so I kept wondering why after 14 years return to this movie? The people that watched Megamind will never go watch this, and the kids would rather watch some other animation.

WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR.

Bad guys, just bad
solvs2 March 2024
Cheap animation, bad jokes, terrible dialogue... it's pretty clear why the voice cast didn't return. This is yet another lazy sequel/series that seems to exist purely to push content. I wish I hadn't wasted time watching this or the new series this setup, that started auto-playing as the credits were rolling. I know a lot of this stuff gets accused of being written by AI during the strikes, but I can see that actually happening here, with it looking so terrible because it was rushed out.

As of now, there are a few reviews here that are glowing. Don't believe them. One of them only reviewed this and the also awful series. 1 is a new user and this is their only review. Sus.

unapologetic trash
BigDaddy40002 March 2024
This is such a shameless and blatant cash grab on a mature, intelligent film, to make it into a cheap knockoff aimed purely at children. Nothing more that that.

Lets start with the obvious: they got rid of all the original voice actors and replaced them with cheap nobodys, and downgraded the animation. Now to be fair, the animation quality isnt *that bad,* but its also worse than the first movie that came out over a decade ago so theres no excuse for this movements are all stiff and unnatural, the character models all look like theyre for a ps2 game, nad theres animaton errors EVERYWHERE. Not as often as there were in the trailer, but still a lot.

The writing is also childish and immature. Even if we forgive the movie for not haviong the budget to look as good as the original, thats still no excuse as to why the writing couldnt be as good as the original. Theres no emotional depth, no trope subversion, no maturity, none of the humor was funny in the slightest, it had NONE of the sharp writing that the original movie did. There was this really annoying thing they did where they made an excuse as to why they have to call minion "chum" for some reason. I genuinely dont know why, it didnt seem like a joke so anything. I kept waiting for them to say "ok this is stupid lets stop saying that" but they never did. The movie tries to make a point as to how megamind cant face the doom syntacate head on, because theres 4 of them and only one of him. But what the writers seem to have forgotten is that he literally defeated an evil superman in the last movie, and the doom syndacate is just a bunch of generic villain rejects that real life police would have absolutely no probelem aprehending. Also didnt the movie make a whole point of how megamind never backs down from a fight, even if he has no chance of actually winning? In this movie hes reduced to a whiny baby.

The movie was also super cringy and pandering. Theres a self-insert child character in it now (you know, for the kids.) and they constantlybring up social media and the internet in out-of-touch contexts. Also that doesnt make any sense because this movie is supposed to take place immediately after the first one, which came out in 2010. They also keep retconning stuff into the megamind universe that we know doesnt make any sense at all.

On its own merits, its decent at best. But when you compare it to the much superior first movie, its a major disappointment. This movie actually could have been good-ish if they expanded upon elements that they didnt fully explore in teh first movie, like megamind and roxxys relationship, or metro mans view of all of this. But unfortunately it was just a dumb kids movie.

Sandpaper the movie is a better title.

Warning: Spoilers
Megamind Vs The Doom Syndicate is a sequel to the 2010 film Megamind and based on the TV show Megamind Rules.

The story follows Megamind who is once again hailed Metro City's hero as he was once a villian. Things take a turn when Megamind and his minion friend(now going by Chum)part ways and an evil crowd of villians known as the doom syndicate want Megamind to team up with them to destroy Metro City. So Megamind and his girlfriend Roxanne pretend that he is still evil and to stop the doom syndicate from destroying Metro City.

Will Megamind choose to be a villian once more or stay a true hero.

Overall this film was terrible. Gone is the funny script, the original actors(Will Ferrell,David Cross,Tina Fey and Brad Pitt all didn't return for the sequel and were replaced by bad impersonations from B actors that I have never heard of before except American Idol winner Adam Lambert and Big Hero 6 star Scott Adit who voiced Baymax) and the animation(which looks very weird).

I didn't even laugh not once in this film(compare to the 1st one which had alot of funny moments).

My advice go watch the 2010 version instead and wipe your memories when watching this monstrosity.

Honest Review
vpirdy4 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's a streaming movie for young children. I think it's best to go into it understanding what it is. It has some morals for young kids (working on a team), and a lot of cartoony antics. I don't see it as better or worse than other movies you see in this age range. It's about what you expect. The story is coherent but rushed. It's not subtle about the message. Some jokes land, some almost land, and some don't. The animation is cheaper, but it's far from the worst I've seen. This is no Dingo Pictures production.

How much kids like this will probably depend on how much silliness they enjoy. It's very much on the goofy side.

While I do think there's plenty to critique, it's certainly not as bad as people are trying to make it out to be.

Personally, I like that they brought in new gadgets for Megamind - was worried we wouldn't see much more than the stuff he already had.

Introducing a lot of villains means we don't get too much development with any individual one here, but these are clearly gag villains.

Several jokes landed well, and a few were close. With a little more editing they would have hit harder.

It's very blunt. Imagine that it's targeted at telling 6-year-olds the moral of the story. The characters will just say what the moral is.

There is a surprising amount of action, actually. Considering the budget and how much needed to be animated, there are a lot of new additions to the series as well as a lot of motion. There are errors, but they're not things that most kids would probably care about or even notice.

The plot is on the rushed side, but it also doesn't stand still doing nothing. So while it's not perfectly paced, you don't have to wait around for something to happen, either.

Things lean toward the "cute" side. You don't have to worry about anything happening in this that will scare little kids. I didn't see anything political, either.

Honestly, some kids won't like this because not all kids like cute, silly things. But I can see plenty of little kids enjoying a character like Lord Nighty-Knight and his little teddy bear, or Behemoth.

There is some major pro-donut propaganda, though. So beware that your kids may ask for donuts.

All in all: if you know your kid's tastes and this sounds like something they'd be into, it should be fine. It's far from a perfect movie, but there's nothing bad in it to be worried about, and there's a fair amount of cute parts. Understand that this is not like the first movie, it's a movie for small kids, and there are probably plenty of small kids that would like it.

"Like the Titanic.. a total disaster"
daisukereds4 March 2024
Dumbed down characters/dialogue/premise, inconsistencies in characters, and even an insistence on making a Parakeet joke.

Anything anyone made after the amazing miracle that was the original movie.. was never going to be as good! It's just like being taken back to the 80s! Where cheap and poorly written cartoons were made to capitalize on franchises. Then there's the series, that seems to continue the "Megamind vs Doom Syndicate" plot, and if it is as childish and boorish as this was.. it won't be worth watching either.

It is rather insulting to take something as beloved, and trash it for quick buck. Stay far and away.. this isn't Megamind.

Not My Megamind
smashmemeboi2 March 2024
Let me just say this now, memes aside, this movie is all around garbage, and that is putting it nicely. There are some funny moments here and there, but that's because it is so bad. The first Megamind is one of my favorite animated movies of all time and this just ruins it for me. Basically, every character is just not playing themselves, Megamind is completely dumb, Minion is not even minion anymore, but I think that's funny. The Doom Syndicate is dumb, because it wasn't in the first movie. This movie isn't a Megamind sequel, it's just slop made for children to put on streaming and make more money, because Megamind fans are going to eat it up.

My evening was ruined, but oh well, that was expected. I hate it.

Very disappointed.
darkhoodie2 March 2024
I watched this movie with high expectations after being blown away by the first film. Unfortunately, the sequel was a deeply disappointing experience. The plot was poorly developed and predictable, the characters lacked depth and felt uninspired, and the visuals were nowhere near as impressive as the first movie. Even the directing seemed unready, failing to capture the aspects that made the original one so special.

Even the animation seemed plain and uncooked.

Overall, this movie is a forgettable sequel that tarnishes the legacy of the original film.

I would not recommend anyone to watch it.

A mega waste of time and one that insults those who loved the film
jediforce102 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate could've honestly been a good sequel to an excellent movie. With the ideas possible for what to do after how the first film went, there was a great potential for it to have more to the franchise. But if this is the direction the sequels are going after a long time for waiting, then it's making me regret ever want to see this film get a sequel.

Taking place after the movie, Megamind is settling into his new role as a hero and not the villain. His new heroic life takes an unexpected turn when his former team of evil villains come to Earth with the intentions of destroying it. It now falls to Megamind to create a new team to beat his former one and save the Earth before it's too late.

Now, the premise doesn't sound too bad on paper. In fact, I was willing to give it a shot and see what they could do with it. Oh, how wrong I was with how they completely dropped the ball.

The animation in general is horrible. I know this is on a budget for a streaming service, but was this the best they could do? Characters move either very awkwardly, stiff, and in some cases their limbs look broken or out of place. Compare it to the movie that came out over a decade ago and the animation there still looks crisp and clean. This looks like an amateur's first project done.

The acting is awful. None of the cast from the first film are back and they're really missed here. Keith Ferguson reprises his role as Megamind from the video games, but he sounds so disinterested most of the time. The rest of the cast is certainly no better at all and don't seem like they want to be there. The only one who seems to be trying the best is Josh Brenon as Minion, or Ol' Chum now. He seems to at least be putting in effort.

The characters are worse. Virtually none of the charactrers, old and new, are likable anymore. The fact Minion had to change his name because of some cease and desist order is stupid. Seriously? Who orders someone to change their name because of some brand name? The kid sidekick, Keiko, is arguably the worst and downright annoying. You know the old stereotype of a kid sidekick? Keiko is all of those old traits in her and has no reason to be here.

The villains are equally as lame. Their designs are okay at best, but compared to the previous villain of the movie, Hal/Titan, they fall very short. They're either being obnoxious, stupid, or both. It's no wonder Megamind wanted to get away from them with how irritating they are.

The writing is abysmal to say the least. The charm of Megamind had some solid comedy, but knew when to be serious or combine the two. Here, many of the jokes are horribly done or so painfully obvious you can see it coming as soon as they start setting up the joke. The dialogue is somehow worst. Characters say stuff that sounds either insufferable or makes you wonder who talks like that. Even in moments that are supposed to be uplifting or emotional, the dialogue is horrible and the immersion is ruined with either dumb jokes or saying something that doesn't fit for the scene.

I can't recommend this movie at all to anyone. This isn't meant for anyone who loved Megamind and it certainly shouldn't be used to introduce someone to the franchise itself. It's an absolute mess from beginning to end and feels like an insult to people who waited 14 years for a followup. What should've been a triumph and great movie ends up being one of the worst sequels to a classic ever.

Do yourself a favor and go watch the first film, and stay far away from this disaster and I do mean stay very far away from it.

Movie making lesson: How not to make a sequel
cyclekh2 March 2024
Surely this was made for students studying cinematography/screen writing/directing... A world leading demonstration of how to ruin a franchise (okay so there was only 1 Megamind) or how not to make a sequel.

The animation is woeful, the dialogue is weak and fails on every level. Animation - think 1990s low cost kids CGI. Comedy - fail. Plot - fail. Conviction/believability - fail. All around watchability - fail.

The original Megamind is a classic. The movie title alone would drag many viewers in with the expectation that this movie would, at least, bring some of the original fun... It doesn't.

Avoid... unless you are studying the don'ts of movie craft.

Terrible film
yasiroy3 March 2024
I've always loved the original Megamind, since I was a kid, and hearing a sequel would be made got my hopes up. I was let down at first by the trailer but thought that the story might make up for it, however, this movie is terrible. I believe it'll be the worst movie of the year, and it's only March it's so terrible. After waiting 14 years, I was incredibly disappointed by this abomination of a film. The animation reminds me of Cocomelon, and all of the jokes are cheap and unfunny. The voice acting sucks too. Wouldn't be shocked if this movie was made by ChatGPT. Wouldn't recoomend to anybody I know.

0/10!

AMAZING....
maxsicle2 March 2024
Not at all, this is unfortunately one of the worst pieces of golf i've ever watched. What were they thinking, it's awful, the animation, dialog, plot. Just absolutely horrid. I can't even put into words the disappointment and foulness of this. It's OUTRAGEOUS. It's just plain bad. It's so bad, i might throw up plz send help. Oh my hell, it's so awful. Help me. Don't watch. It's so bad. The animation is equal to those horrid new kids shows, it's plastic clay that looks like it was animated and rendered by a 8 year old, the dialog is hell, pure hell, it's almost enjoyable because of how bad it is. And the plot is just out of a toilet. That's all there is. There was so many laughs do to how awful it is. This might go down in history as the worst follow up movie ever, a movie that didn't even need a second. So sad. Truly. This is NOT my Megamind :(

Made an account just to give this the low rating it deserves
WalterReviewsMovies2 March 2024
I felt dumber after watching this. I'd like to give it zero stars. I know it's a kids movie, but Megamind the first movie was great for everyone. Even my kids (both under 10) thought this was boring. It gave early Paw Patrol vibes with the animation and the storyline but so so much worse. I was waiting for those pups to show up and save the day (and movie) Please pick any other children's movie for your family movie night, it felt like a waste of time. There's a reason why none of the voice actors from the first one came back for this. Peacock should be ashamed, it felt like they used the name Megamind just to get some recognition for a quick dollar.

Why bother?
jordanvalentini2 March 2024
Peacock, you clearly didn't actually care about this project. Megamind is a fondly remembered film for the 2010s that never really needed a sequel; and if someone did choose to make one, it should only have been made by those most passionate... Or at least, someone with any remotely creative ideas at all.

It's safe to say we didn't get that.

A lifeless, lacklustre cash grab (that hopefully earns you no cash) with none of the wit or charm the original film brought to us in the 2010s.

I even heard that the villains were actually borrowed from one of the shovelware games made alongside the film's release near 13 years ago... What an embarrassment.

Just no...
chenp-547082 March 2024
Dreamworks Animation continues to strike with the hit or miss perspectives as they have made some great movies but also some not great ones. Honestly, Megamind is a good movie and a sequel could have explored some interesting stories and ideas but really? This is what comes along? Because this just might be the worst Dreamworks Animated movie I have seen ever.

The narrative has been bogged down unlike it's previous movie with ideas that are bland, the animation, character models, and designs are poor and look like something from a cheap video game, the voice performances are pretty bad and the dialogue is rough. Many of the charm, chemistry, and fun tone from the original Megamind has been stripped away and what we have is a boring story, characters that were once likable now unlikeable, and annoying humor.

I shouldn't have been surprised since it is only for streaming but still, it hurts cause I like the first Megamind and the sequel could have explored some fun ideas to continue the story but nope, it doesn't.

Awful.

worst movie ive ever seen
sonnymikhail17 March 2024
This is the worst movie i have ever seen, no exaggeration. I have never seen such a big downgrade in movie history. I love the original Megamind, one of my favorite animated films ever, and this movie lacks everything we all loved from the first film. It seems like the script was written by AI! This also gets a huge thumbs down because Will Farell doesnt even play megamind like he did in the first film, so it feels off. This movie felt like i was watching brainrot garbage i could find on youtube kids, and not an actual movie. This movie lacks emotion and character development, which the original perfected. Notice i say original; because i believe the world should completely disregard The Doom Syndicate and throw it in the trash where it came from.

I rarely give out 1/10
normax83 March 2024
I endured 1min of the movie so how can I not give it a 1/10. Megamind 1 was a superb movie, and now its a cashgrab lower model quality somehow, or rather maybe less shadows, any it looks worse, how they acoplished such a feat is beyond me. Voice actors changed, and they somehow just sound more child friendly, the first minute felt like a 4 year old introduction to a movie. I was really excited for this movie, but now taht I think about it, it should never have had a sequel, it had a perfect ending, everything afterwards is gonna be extremely predictable. Dunno, bad bad very bad, Dreamworks is dead.

Shameful
pressheretoplay1 March 2024
This is a huge stain on the amazing legacy of Megamind. This is nothing but a shameful money grab and a betrayal to actual fans. Megamind had an amazing story and some of the best action entries of the genre. This has lack of substance and a horrible animation. When this movie was first announced I was ecstatic that one of my favorite movies was getting a sequel. After the first trailer I could clearly see the lack of effort. Not only will this extremely disappoint and possibly lose fans but another generation had a chance to get a view of the legacy and will never view it the way we did. Please save yourself the suffering and lay this to rest. RIP.

Megamind is doomed
MB-reviewer1852 March 2024
The movie Megamind (2010) is one of DreamWorks's best animated films, with a great voice cast, great 3D animation, lots of funny and memorable moments, and fun action; so, having they're being a straight to streaming movie sequel fourteen years later on the streaming service Peacock had me worried because of how good the first movie was and that the original voice cast did not return, after watching, I had all the reason to worry about it because this movie was terrible. The straight to streaming sequel Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate (2024) is annoying and hard to watch with bad voice acting, bad 3D animation, bad action, and humor that is not written well; this movie will not make sense most of the time, there is a character I hated, and the movie was just poorly put together because of how certain characters will say lines of dialogue but their mouths will not be synced up to match whatever they are saying in the moment.

I do not like the different voice actor for Megamind in the movie, he does not have the charm of the character that Will Ferrell had in the first movie, and this movie changed Megamind's personality by making him unlikable and more of a showoff, and less like a funny likable character you want to root for once his old team shows up because of an evil plan that was made years ago. The character Minion has a bad name change to Ol' Chum and a voice actor that does not work well for the character, Minion is just on his own the whole movie because he wants to do his own thing without Megamind, which leads to him working somewhere else that is just too weird for a movie like this; he just shows up to help by the climax of the movie where things go wrong. Lastly, you have Roxanne Ritchi who is also not voiced that great and does not do much in the movie except be part of this big lie and has a last second change to the character by the end; also, this fan of Megamind named Keiko Morita who I hated in the movie, because she was annoying and was just added in to scenes where she did not need to show up in.

The Doom Syndicate with the members named Lady Doppler, Lord Nighty-Knight, Pierre Pressure, and Behemoth who were awful villains that got annoying and did used their abilities for stupid things that made no sense, especially since they start out tricked by Megamind thinking he is still evil; the third act with them and other villains was just hard to watch. The 3D animation is terrible with looking like a low budget movie they dumped on a streaming service, instead it makes the characters not look good and it did not make any of the action scenes fun to watch; the movie is filled with lots of dumb scenes that made the movie hard to watch and the movie felt longer than it was, along with the movie just being boring from scene to scene with their being too many dialogue filled scenes that have nothing funny being said from anyone.

The terrible sequel Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate (2024) is not worth watching at all, which is why I highly recommend watching the original first movie Megamind (2010), because while that movie was funny and fun to watch, this movie was boring, badly animated, and not funny making the movie hard to watch; the only reason to have it on is to put it on for any little kids that happen to be in the room as a distraction. If you want a continuation to the first movie, I recommend checking out the short from DreamWorks Megamind: The Button of Doom (2011) because it has the same voice actors, the same great 3D animation, and the same funny humor from the first movie; spend your time watching that than wasting your time on this.
