[first lines]
Teresa Lisbon : Jane?
Patrick Jane : Hello, Lisbon.
Teresa Lisbon : Jane, don't do this. Not without me.
Patrick Jane : I said I'm sorry.
Teresa Lisbon : Jane, I am begging you. You're in danger.
Patrick Jane : It... it's gonna be okay. I... I... I'm gonna be okay.
Teresa Lisbon : No, you're not. You do this and you're throwing your life away.
Patrick Jane : Bye, Lisbon.
Teresa Lisbon : [he hangs up] Jane? No.
-
Kimball Cho : A tattoo?
Patrick Jane : Yes.
Grace Van Pelt : That we can use to identify Red John.
Patrick Jane : Yes.
Wayne Rigsby : That's great. So all we have to do is check each one of the suspects one by one until we find out who has the tattoo.
Patrick Jane : No.
Wayne Rigsby : Why not?
Patrick Jane : Red John doesn't know I know about the tattoo.
Wayne Rigsby : [confused] Okay?
Patrick Jane : So if we start checking suspects, very likely that Red John will find out.
Teresa Lisbon : And disappear before we have a chance of getting him.
Patrick Jane : Exactly.
Kimball Cho : Then what do you want to do?
Patrick Jane : Gather all five suspects together, same place, same time, then start checking for the tattoo.
Kimball Cho : And how do we do that?
Patrick Jane : We'll ask them.
Kimball Cho : And you think they'll agree?
Patrick Jane : Wasn't planning on giving them a choice.
-
Teresa Lisbon : I'm on board with your plan.
Patrick Jane : Good.
Teresa Lisbon : On one condition. I want to be there when you reveal Red John.
Patrick Jane : Okay.
Teresa Lisbon : Seriously.
Patrick Jane : I said okay.
Teresa Lisbon : Yeah, but you didn't mean it.
Patrick Jane : Did I not? How can you tell?
Teresa Lisbon : This is non-negotiable, Jane.
Patrick Jane : I agree, a hundred percent.
-
Patrick Jane : There's been a breakthrough in the Red John investigation. I have some new information; some very significant information.
Reede Smith : Okay. What is it?
Patrick Jane : No, no. Not yet. I'm not sure who I can trust. I'm not even sure I can trust you. Red John has some very powerful allies.
Reede Smith : Patrick... come on.
Patrick Jane : Okay. But not here. Meet me at eight o'clock on Thursday night.
Reede Smith : Thursday? Why?
Patrick Jane : I need time to find a safe place to meet.
Reede Smith : Fine. Where?
Patrick Jane : I'll let you know the day of.
Reede Smith : This is crazy.
Patrick Jane : I have made the mistake of underestimating Red John a number of times now. I don't want to make that mistake again. If you want the information, it's on my terms.
-
Teresa Lisbon : We've made a breakthrough, sir.
Gale Bertram : In...?
Teresa Lisbon : The Red John case.
Patrick Jane : We're close to identifying him.
Gale Bertram : Well, then this is fantastic news. After all these years. You... you... you really think you've got him?
Patrick Jane : I do.
Gale Bertram : I want to know the second you have something concrete.
Teresa Lisbon : You will, sir.
Gale Bertram : And I want to be there when you end this.
Patrick Jane : I was hoping you'd say that.
-
Teresa Lisbon : He's at the Ecuadorian consulate. As long as he's there, we can't touch him. What do you want to do?
Patrick Jane : I'll handle Stiles.
Teresa Lisbon : Well, he's not gonna come with you. He doesn't have to.
Patrick Jane : I'll be persuasive.
-
Teresa Lisbon : We need to talk about tomorrow night.
Patrick Jane : I've already told you.
Teresa Lisbon : Just hear me out, please. You don't want me to be there.
Patrick Jane : No. I don't.
Teresa Lisbon : You don't want me to be there because you think I'm gonna try and stop you from killing Red John.
Patrick Jane : Are you saying that you won't?
Teresa Lisbon : What I'm saying is some men, men like Red John, they don't deserve a trial, they don't deserve a jury. They deserve what they have coming to them.
Patrick Jane : Wait, let me get this straight. After close to twenty years working in law enforcement, you're just... you're changing your mind?
Teresa Lisbon : About Red John, yes.
Patrick Jane : I'm surprised, Lisbon.
Teresa Lisbon : What? You don't believe me?
Patrick Jane : Heavens, no. You're the most honest person I know. You would never lie, not about something like this. Right?
Teresa Lisbon : Right.
Patrick Jane : Tomorrow night, then.
Teresa Lisbon : Tomorrow night.
-
Patrick Jane : You're going to meet me tonight at eight o'clock.
Bret Stiles : Patrick...
Patrick Jane : No, you listen to me. You're gonna meet me tonight at eight o'clock or I'm gonna come back here, and when I do, you will need more than these walls to keep you safe.
Bret Stiles : Threats? That's so out of character.
Patrick Jane : I mean every word of it.
Bret Stiles : Yes, I believe you do. But you see, Patrick, a dying man does not fear death.
Patrick Jane : Oh, please. This charade might work on your disciples. It doesn't work on me.
Bret Stiles : You think too highly of me. Unfortunately, it's not a charade.
Patrick Jane : How long have you got?
Bret Stiles : It's spread to the blood. There's nothing they can do. I don't know... two weeks, a month. You see, it's not personal. It's just that my time now is very precious.
Patrick Jane : I'm still gonna need you tonight.
Bret Stiles : For god's sake, why? What's so damned important?
Patrick Jane : Red John. I'm close. Closer than I've ever been.
-
Patrick Jane : I brought you five together for a reason. Some of you may know that reason, some of you may have guessed. But one of you here is Red John.
Reede Smith : [as the group laughs derisively] What? One of us?
Bret Stiles : One of us here is Red John? Well, that's very interesting.
Gale Bertram : Who is it?
Patrick Jane : I don't know. And that's what we're gonna find out.
Reede Smith : Wait, you're trying to say that one of us in this room is a serial killer?
Patrick Jane : I know it.
Ray Haffner : No, this is crazy.
Patrick Jane : I can assure you it's not.
Ray Haffner : Well, I can assure you I'm not sticking around for this crap.
Patrick Jane : [as Haffner stands to leave, he pulls out his shotgun and pumps the slide] Sit down. Do not move toward the door. No one is leaving.
