One summer day in 1890, the photographer Felix Arnaudin stops in a hamlet of the south of France, to take pictures of its inhabitants. Among them, Emile, who lives alone with his three children. By nightfall, near the fireplace, Emile tells his story to the photographer: his wife was a fairy. She has disappeared. In the forest around the hamlet, there is a presence. Emile stays awake into the small hours.
