Dr. Thomas Scheibel is the first scientist in the world who has managed to produce artificial spider silk. He was successful in decoding its DNA. In a special procedure, he and his team synthesize spider DNA using bacteria at the University of Bayreuth. When finished, they can use the artificial spider silk for a wide range of medical applications - after all, it's the most tear proof material in the world, and fully biological.
