Basically a documentary about the Grand Hotel
While somewhat interesting, unfortunately the interviews conducted were with a few bands that no one remembers and their opinions (for most) have gotten old (where's the fire and anarchy)?? It would have been good to see interviews with other bands that were around at the time (The Saints, The Hard-ons Radio Birdman etc). A lot of the footage is about the Grand Hotel in Sydney and the few years that punk bands habit-ed it. It was interesting to see some of the old super 8 cam footage and snapshots of Sydney back in the late 70's and it documents a place in time more than anything else. Interestingly, it's funny how the Australian punk scene differed to the English or NY scenes where basically Aussie punks just wanted to rock and the social aspects represented by other countries were not taken as seriously. The snobbery attitude of the band organisers of the Grand was a bit off putting considering half the bands there were basically crap and now full of their own self importance. The fact that most never pursued a career in music says a lot. An interesting watch, but not a keeper.
