At long last, Eddie Murphy is reprising his role as street-smart cop Axel Foley in the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which is set to hit Netflix this summer. But, it isn’t easy being a middle aged action star. It’s been nearly thirty years since we last saw Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, and in a recent interview with People Magazine he admitted that the shoot was a “rough one”.“I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore,” he said. At any rate, Murphy won’t be the only aged actor from the original to show up, with many of the classic Beverly Hills Cop cast members are set to join him in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Here’s everything we know about Beverly Hills Cop 4!

While taking a trip down memory lane, Lori Loughlin recalled the positive experience of working with Keanu Reeves on their 1988 film The Night Before.
The Full House actress recently opened up about the teen comedy on her former co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber’s How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast. The Thom Eberhardt-directed film follows Reeves’ character, Winston, who takes the popular high school girl, Tara (Loughlin), to prom, but wakes up with no memories and Tara missing.
“[Reeves] was the nerdy guy?” Sweetin asked as Loughlin confirmed, “He was the nerdy guy. Could you imagine?”
The When Calls the Heart actress added that The Matrix star “was so wonderful. … What a lovely, lovely man.”
Sweetin admitted that she has wanted to “meet him so bad” because of all the “awesome” things she’s heard about Reeves, and Loughlin confirmed it all to be true, adding, “He’s just a dream” and “so sweet.

The exclusive event was co-chaired by Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathé, America Ferrera and Ryan Piers-Williams, Jodie Foster and Paul Giamatti.
Funds raised from the event will be used to support industry members and their families who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services, such as financial assistance, crisis counseling, caregiving support and residency on the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, which now serves as “home” to many television and film veterans. During the recent work stoppages, MPTF received over 13,000 calls for aid and provided more than $8 million in charitable financial assistance.
“MPTF and I have such a rich, wonderful history together of taking care of our own,” said Foster. “I’m so proud to support this incredible organization and help raise crucial funds to support our industry family when they need it most.

Modern Hollywood has a problem of keeping their VFX artists on a time crunch, which often equates to subpar visuals, as they had to meet the deadline set by the studios. In recent years, this questionable practice has witnessed a spike, especially in the landscape of big-budget productions, and unfortunately, Netflix’s new Avatar: The Last Airbender was not immune to it.
While visuals in the Netflix show are mostly great, with fans claiming it’s one of its best aspects, it wasn’t until the night before its premiere that the VFX team was done working on them.

Around the holidays, nothing is better than kicking back with your family and laughing until your stomach hurts. Holiday Cheer is real. The Night Before (2015)
This fun holiday film centers on three friends with an annual tradition of getting together on Christmas Eve and spending the night getting into as much debauchery as possible. When they realize that their adult lives are making it harder and harder to keep the tradition going, they decide to make this year’s reunion the best one they have ever had.

With Christmas just one week (and one day) away, we wanted to ask you, the people, what your favorite Christmas Movie is? It doesn’t have to be the movie you think is the best, just the one that you eagerly anticipate watching every year. Is it the timeless tale of an angel getting its wings in It’s A Wonderful Life? or perhaps the under-appreciated (and genuinely hilarious) R rated The Night Before is how you kick off your holiday season?
Do you look forward to seeing Jack Skellington discover the true meaning of Christmas in the Christmas Movie Classic The Nightmare Before Christmas or watching Kevin McCallister take down the Wet/ Sticky Bandits in Home Alone 1&2 or perhaps seeing Clark W. Griswold struggle to have the perfect family Christmas in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is more your speed? Whatever film fills you with yuletide glee, we would love...

It seems streaming services have realised in the last few years that a good Christmas film is worth putting some money behind. Literally millions of movie watchers, and even people that don’t watch a whole lot of movies, are always willing to watch one at this time of year. Especially family-friendly films. Amazon Prime have got in experienced director Reginald Hudlin, and leading (and legendary) actor Eddie Murphy to headline Candy Cane Lane.

Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron have gotten to usher in a new era of action thanks to their efforts from both 87Eleven and 87North productions with their respective films, John Wick and Atomic Blonde. Both films aimed to combine the chaos and extended sequences of gunplay action with raw, gritty martial arts in a stylized manner. Additionally, Seth Rogen had dabbled a bit in crossing over into action with Pineapple Express and The Green Hornet with various responses.
It’s recently been reported by industry insider, Daniel Richtman, that Universal is rumored to be making Spy House. Spy House is set to star Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen in a mystery film where the plot involves, “When a group of spies go to a safe house after a job gone wrong, they realize there’s a killer in the house.” Rogen is set to direct with frequent collaborator...

Though he’s often associated with intense roles like his Oscar-nominated turns in “Revolutionary Road” and “Nocturnal Animals,” Michael Shannon is funny. That’s now been well established. From scene-stealing cameos in “They Came Together” and “The Night Before” to his hilarious/terrifying reading of a viral sorority letter to often being the highlight of press junkets with his trademark dry delivery, the actor has proven his comedy bona fides. So, hey Lorne Michaels, give him his shot on “Saturday Night Live” already.
Asked if he’s ever been asked to host the iconic sketch show, Shannon replies, “I think Lorne Michaels is scared of me or thinks I smell funny or something. The guy won’t arrest me.”
I can personally vouch that Shannon smells fine and there’s nothing for Michaels to be afraid of. And the actor seems a perfect fit for the show; “SNL” often likes...

The Beatles wrote many love songs, but they also wrote just as many breakup songs. Some of them are dark and gloomy, but others are comforting. They assured listeners that it was Ok if a relationship didn’t work out. Maybe it was for the best.

“Misery” is The Beatles’ most miserable song. The speaker is severely down on themselves because they just lost their love. They never used to cry, but now they do all the time. They wish for the day their love will return to them because everyone can see how miserable they are.

In “Not a Second Time,” the speaker is sad about losing a relationship but has come to terms with the fact that it was doomed from the start. The speaker’s love seems fickle, and they had an on-again-off-again romance. It’s in the lyrics,...

In the spring of 2019, Lee Sung Jin was driving home through Los Angeles traffic from his job as a writer on the animated series Undone, at the end of a perfectly fine day in his dream profession. Sitting at a red light, he missed the change to green while studying Waze. A driver in a white SUV behind him leaned on his horn. Then, as Lee recalls, the man pulled up alongside Lee’s car, “said a bunch of shit, and zoomed away.”

The weekend is over, the cash has been counted, the credit card receipts have been tabulated and as expected James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water came out on top with a reported 134 million opening weekend. That number is Way below even the most modest of expectations. On Thursday some predicted around 200 million (even I overestimated in my prediction of 180 million), on Saturday it looked like 150 million but I’m not sure how many saw it coming in this low.
The thing with James Cameron blockbusters is: they don’t tend to be front loaded. We have come to expect films to have massive opening weekends followed by severe drops. Think about the over 60 declines Marvel movies have suffered lately. The Way of Water saw only a 15 decline from Friday to Saturday, even a movie like Top Gun: Maverick saw a 27 Friday to Saturday decline. James Cameron has built...

Jonathan Levine, the filmmaker behind the comedy “Long Shot’ and tear-jerker “50/50,” is taking his talents to the Catskills.
He’s been hired by Lionsgate to direct a sequel to 1987’s “Dirty Dancing,” with Jennifer Grey set to reprise her classic role as Frances “Baby” Houseman. No word as to whether she’ll be in a corner.
Prior to finding himself in the director’s chair, Levine was already attached to the project as a producer. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Elizabeth Chomko. The follow-up film, also titled “Dirty Dancing,” is expected to go into production later this year for release in 2024. International sales will launch later this month in Cannes.
Lionsgate announced back in 2020 that another “Dirty Dancing” story was in the works. Little is known about the next chapter, but Levine has hinted the sequel will include music from the original movie, as well as ’90s hip-hop.

Despite being critically panned, Universal comedy The War With Grandpa has posted the highest opening weekend since After We Collided.
Exhibitors had been expecting some success with the film, which stars Robert de Niro, Uma Thurman and Christopher Walken, given it did reasonably – Covid considered – in New Zealand, totalling around $NZD1.3 million.
Here, it bowed on $926,114 from 318 screens, completely outstripping all competition.
Directed by Tim Hill, the film follows Peter and his grandpa (De Niro), who used to be close. But when Grandpa Jack moves in with the family, Peter is forced to give up his bedroom – and will stop at nothing to get it back.
For Majestic Cinemas, it was the top title by far, with CEO Kieren Dell telling If: “It seems to have a broad reach, and we all need a good comedy just now.”

When Sunday morning rolls around and Halloween is officially in the rearview mirror, the focus is going to shift towards Christmas as pumpkins and skeletons get replaced by reindeer and Santas. Every year a wave of new movies are released to capitalize on people’s continued obsession with the festive season, even if very few of them manage to ascend to classic status.
The roster of holiday favorites has largely remained unchanged for decades bar the odd recent addition or two, but Netflix are doubling down on their Christmas content regardless, and the streaming service has a massive amount of seasonal movies and TV shows coming down the pipeline throughout November and December.

Jillian Bell takes the lead in “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” landing her first starring role in the Sundance hit.
“I feel very lucky and the project feels very special, very near and dear to my heart. We’re so proud of what we made,” Bell told Variety at the film’s premiere on Thursday night in Los Angeles. “I feel lucky even when I get to do a small part in anything and to have this be my first title lead role, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
After stealing scenes in “22 Jump Street,” “Workaholics,” “The Night Before” and “Office Christmas Party,” Bell plays the titular character in the film, a young woman who finds herself prepping to run the New York City Marathon. Writer-director Paul Downs Colaizzo adapted the story from the true-life tale of his best friend, Brittany O’Neill.

As expected, “Avengers: Endgame” is still bringing moviegoers to theaters in droves in its second weekend. On Friday, the film added $40.6 million to its domestic total, pushing it to $514 million after just eight days in theaters.
It took “Avengers: Infinity War” 11 days to gross $1 billion worldwide, and now “Endgame” will gross $2 billion in roughly that same time span. In the next week, the film will become one of the top three highest grossing films of all time, and is now in position to challenge the record of $2.78 billion set by “Avatar.” Regardless of whether or not it passes James Cameron’s film, “Endgame” will become one of the top 10 highest grossing after inflation adjustment.

It’s a familiar enough pattern: a rising director helms one or two well-received indie films that hit big on the festival circuit, gets enough attention to hit up Hollywood, and signs on for a blockbuster feature or two. From Ryan Coogler to Chloe Zhao, it’s no longer news when a filmmaker jumps from Sundance to Marvel. But when filmmaker Jonathan Levine was in the mix to direct the latest iteration of “Spider-Man” after his well-reviewed festival hits “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane” and “The Wackness,” the director passed on the opportunity to take a different path: directing studio comedies.
Though Levine recently told IndieWire he interviewed “a few times” for the latest cinematic incarnation of “Spider-Man” — in 2015, he was rumored to be on a short list with other filmmakers like Ted Melfi and John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, before the gig went to Jon Watts...

“Long Shot” director Jonathan Levine says that he and Seth Rogen really had to reel it in and get their act together once Charlize Theron came on board because she “brings a level of credibility and authenticity.”

"Bringing someone like Fred onto the team is a little reckless." Lionsgate has debuted a quick new trailer for the comedy Long Shot, from director Jonathan Levine, opening in theaters in just a few weeks. Seth Rogen reteams with Levine (after both 50/50 and The Night Before) chasing after an entirely unattainable presidential candidate, played by Charlize Theron. Flarsky, an unemployed journalist battered by his own misfortune, attempts to pursue Charlotte Field, his childhood crush and babysitter who has become one of the most powerful and unreachable women on the planet. The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, June Diane Raphael, Andy Serkis, Randall Park, O'Shea Jackson Jr., James Saito, Ravi Patel, and Gabrielle Graham.
