Analysis of one of the Toughest Roles in Ballet
l_rawjalaurence15 March 2016
GOOD SWAN BAD SWAN not only looks at the rigors of trying to perform SWAN LAKE - one of the most popular yet one of the most difficult roles in ballet - but also looks at the elements of trying to portray a good and a bad character in one performance.

Sometimes the temptation might be to treat the entire ballet as a melodrama, but as Tamara Rojo, principal dancer of the English National Ballet explains, directors and stars have tried to invest the performance with considerable degrees of light and shade. The documentary contains archive footage of several seminal performances as well as behind-the-scenes footage of rehearsals at a new production. Definitely worth a watch for anyone interested in the mechanics of ballet production.
