Romance not that great but other elements carry it

Warning: Spoilers
Da-Yang (Yoon Seung-Ah) is an optimistic orphan who is determined to save her family bakery to honor her parents. Go Seung-ji (Lee Donghae) learned how to be a top patissier in prison and is looking to get his life back on track- if only he would be given the chance. Panda takes a chance on him and her bakery is quickly saved by this unlikely knight. There is mystery surrounding his past, his family and why he is so driven to outshine the current to bakery. All of the side relationships in this were really interesting to me. There was a beautiful family element to it. I loved the relationship/bromance between the lead and side lead. It was great that they wound up being brothers. I loved the relationship he had with his grandfather. I didn't mind the Panda and Hedgehog relationship but I wasn't all that excited about it either. But I loved the side characters so much that alone made it worth it.

Good enough

Warning: Spoilers
A so so drama that tries to be cute and fluffy, but the performances don't allow it. Okay, the story is predictable, as it is confusing: a girl owns a cake - coffee shop but it doesn't have many costumers. So, she seeks a new pastry chef. The new pastry chef is a guy, who's very talented but he has never been to a pastry school, as he was in prison. Actually, he's past is a mystery, as he has lost his parents and memory since he was eleven and he has been living with an old pastry chef and his daughter ever since he left prison. Meanwhile, the girl's old childhood friend comes back from America and takes charge of his mother's famous desert shop. So, the lead male was really weak and his performance kind of ruined the romance for me. He wasn't bad, but he has no emotion and no chemistry with his co star. The girl was good and cute, as well as the rest of the cast, but that guy...!! Another thing was the predictable story. Though it was a nice idea, the fact that everyone figured it out the same day, when they must had for like years now it was silly (I can't explain it properly, because I may spoil the mystery...) The desert making was interesting, though it was obvious they didn't cook the deserts themselves. And the shop battle was interesting as well. So, 3 out of 10 for this drama.

Panda and hedgehog
maddiebuggie27 April 2020
This was a fun show to watch. I thought the show was great. It made me mad, sad, happy but all in a good way. I like that it was about a bakery store and the people in it. The romantic was good too. The script was well written. The actor and actress did a great job acting. The actors and actress were never annoying at even for a second. I loved all the actors and actress that they hired for this show. I think they did a great job casting. The translation were also well done. The character development was good. I was never bored while watching this show. The dessert always looked so good. I just wanted to go there buy all the food they had and eat it myself while watching this show. The plot of the show was good. The makeup, hair, and outfits were all good. I liked how this show was set in a bakery.

Lovely patisserie and crazy overacting...
ushagowri-607363 November 2021
Well it's a 2012 creation and it shows. Esp if one is bonge watching the later movies/ drama First why are women in rich families downright big B's or loud mouthed enough to make one cringe?

Overacting is another huge issue. Yuh. Painful esp the sister . Gracious .

Stopped watching to Ep 2 bec of all those screaming women.

Didn't succeed
Snootz22 March 2021
I am a fan of RomCom and realize that sometimes a series is a little slow taking off. But even with a slow-burner I do expect at least a cohesive development in both plot and characters. By 30 minutes in I gave up on this one... which is a first.

The characters are shallow. The back-stories are poorly developed. Character relationships are sudden, with important background information either missing, or just dumped in the viewer's lap in a "This is what's happened in the past..." method.

I put this on my yawner list. Perhaps if I'd have stuck with it I might have discovered more-- but not according to other reviews I've read on this series. And life is too short to spend it on half-baked fare. (See what I did there? "Half baked"? HAR!) Well, it was funnier than the show.

Poor everything
makeweight11 May 2021
Terrible script, wooden acting, slow pacing, poor directing, this really is a shockingly badly made series, with an over-familiar setting, trite characters and a tired plot. Avoid.
