You have to understand....
rodlaver-2382310 June 2019
This isn't a movie that's supposed to have an original plot. It's an extremely low budget visualization of the events that supposedly happened at Copalis Beach, Or. Is every little detail of the place and time accurate? Nah. Would it have been easy to fix those issues? Sure...but take it for what it is. If you want a good retelling of the events go on Bob Gymlan's Youtube channel and check it out. I wish they'd do more low budget visualizations of reported events.

Not horrible. Not very good either.
frankblack-7996118 June 2020
Obviously this is a low budget type flick. Some of it is interesting. I see some of the crew and friends of the cast have left some reviews here. LoL. My biggest complaint was some of the characters are so dumb and use no commen sense whatsoever. Maybe the people this happened to were really that stupid. Can't recommend this but won't tell you not to watch it.

S.O.S.

What kind of mindless fools give these movies 8s 9s or 10s? Are your standards that low? Bad acting. I mean BAD. But not the worst. I hate flashback movies because it lets you know right away the people survived. Takes away 90% of the impact of the movie. Same old story; stupud people, stupid decisions, bad......everything....the budget was probably $20,000. I doubt they got that moneyback. The lead actress did like 2 more things and her career ended. This often happens with grade D actors. She was unusually homely but i liked that for a change over the usual 23 year old bimbo blonde "actress" with the obligatory cologen lips, an IQ of ten, and fake boobs. It was not horrible but not good.

Give it a chance

I went into this film reading all kinds of negative reviews here. I watched it and found it to be decent for a low budget effort. Yes, there is no gore and no T&A like so many low budget exploits. The acting could be a little more polished, but I liked the characters and could relate to the father in this family. I liked the film; you may not. All I can say is: watch it & decide for yourself.

Terrible all the way around
alfredbullock20 July 2016
This movie is absolutely horrific. From the acting, to the script, to the camera work. Obvious flaws in actor choices as well. Inconsistencies in the events that took place that were obvious oversights, were an insult one's intelligence. Completely non credible. I'm not sure what good a movie is, if you cannot be drawn in for the lack credible and convincing characters. No character build up, so you don't get a sense of relating to one character or another. The sets were also unconvincing, as you may see characters walking in a particular area, then the camera shows the higher vantage point and its obviously an entire different environment. The concept is good, but execution was poorly done.

I don't even know where to begin
marshallsilva19 July 2016
This is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. The acting is so bad it borders between a high school talent show sketch and a bad after school special. There is very little character development and even less chemistry between the cast. The dialogue delivery is very awkward at times, and seems like they are reading their lines for the very first time. The pacing of the story is almost non existent, and what very little story intrigue is built, falls flat on poor editing and poorly cast characters. If you want to watch a similar genre movie, I would recommend Exists - a better movie based on this type of legend. I have no idea how this movie currently is a 6.4/10. Maybe the entire cast, crew, and studio had an IMDb voting party?

Redneck drama
Leofwine_draca25 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
While posited as a BIGFOOT horror flick, this indie drama is anything but. Instead it's more of a family drama charting the experiences of a typical guy and his family in a small town and the problems that small town life brings. I'd call it a redneck drama, with endless small talk and the like and horror elements that seem tacked on as an afterthought. Sadly, it's too bogged down by the usual problems a micro budget brings.

Beyond Worst Acting
donnagray5192 December 2017
OMG. What is it with the southern accents when this supposedly true story takes place in Washington State??? Are the affects to highlight that believers are supposed hillbillies? The only thing missing was banjo music.

The acting is beyond wooden. It's as though the actors are cold reading the scripts when 'action" was cued. Were they hired moments before filming and without access to their scripts so they could at least have 2 minutes to prepare? If you're fans of method acting, this film is the antithesis and a new style has been developed. No Method Acting.

I feel sorry for the Bigfoot that had to share the same stage as the human actors. If you ever see the big guy, offer him condolences and apologies for being human.

Official least favorite movie
stoned_reviewer18 August 2019
Wow, I've officially found my least favorite movie. It looks like it was shot on an iPhone and every line delivered was void of any emotion or sincerity, it's like the cast hated it as much as I did. There's so many useless and oddly specific sub stories that confused me. I'm 60% sure this movie is satire. I'm speechless.

Great Reenactment
gams-275401 March 2023
I've watched this twice now. It's a great movie/reenactment. The bad reviews are obviously people that came into this expecting a Hollywood film. This was meant to be a documentary and reenactment of what happened to this family. If you go into this expecting an A movie with Hollywood special effects, you'll be disappointed. If you go into it expecting what it actually is, you'll love it. Especially if you are a Big Foot lover. The cast did a decent job. The big foot costume was well done. I truly think they did a really decent job with the low budget that they were working with. I'd rather watch something like this, than some cookie cutter remake that Hollywood has been putting out.

Is this for real?
drussell-9851918 January 2018
As far as Big Foot stuff goes, it is one of those that goes in the files of "hey this happened to us." But the movie is supposed to be set in Marshal Texas. Their accents were not East Texas, no one says Hey Guys in Texas, they say Hey Ya'll ,or hey you all. No one drinks what ever they were drinking without ICE and it should have been sweet ice tea. They don't call, and I mean they never call the evening meal in TEXAS DINNER, you dumb ass. It is always supper. The acting was poor and had the acting been good, the movie would have been so much better. I can only give it one star.

Decent story line, perhaps better acting
fayejohn-245776 May 2018
This is one of those stories that almost can't go wrong. SOMEthing in the woods gets your nerves in horror mode from the title itself. The cameras used seem to be consistent throughout and someone knew what they were doing with lighting. The main actors also appeared to be spot on with maybe a slight slip here and there. That said, not all the acting was believable and some scenes were awkward. Personally, I think we saw way too much of the creature for our own good. Nonetheless, SITW does give you an hour and a half of entertainment.

B-Movie with an A for effort
bqbussey13 December 2020
Fortunately for the movie I love all things Bigfoot. Sasquatch may be real, it may only be a legend and IMO most "eyewitness accounts" are overt fictitious accounts to get 5 seconds of notoriety. Still, I love the subject and movies like this are fun to watch (albeit a little painful, LOL). The acting speaks for itself so I'm not going to even comment on it. I actually thought the editing was on par with bigger budget productions so that's a plus. I did like the story and in the end that's all that matters.

That don't look like bear fur.
nogodnomasters25 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The big foot story is told as a flashback to several decades ago about John (David D. Ford) and his family who had irksome big foot issues. You get to see the creature at 8 minutes into the film. The production mostly takes place at their farmhouse as the family eats, prays, and shoot things at their door. What I can say is that the dialogue is very stiff and the acting is seriously bad. David Ford can not act. I would blame the script writer for giving him lousy lines, but that was the same guy too. The bad acting didn't stop with Mr. Ford, but was a contagion on the set.

Note: Big foot was both nocturnal and active during the day. He has square teeth like a herbivore, but ate meat. Just saying.

There is no swearing, sex, or nudity in a David Ford film. There was a "damn" and Angela Harger had three frames of a bra slip as she got into bed. Need to tighten up Mr. Ford.

Fine to have on in the background while doing taxes or something.
TwistedCyberChik14 February 2022
The dialogue and delivery are very clunky but it's at least a more believable progression of events for a Bigfoot movie. The creature sound effects were actually pretty creepy, props for that. There's no denying it's a very low budget film but it's not awful. It doesn't demand your undivided attention so if you're into Bigfoot movies I'd recommend having it play while doing the dishes or paperwork etc. Woulda been 5/10 but a few particular scenes were so poorly acted it was plain awkward.

Wow!
suprchunk14 February 2018
This is by far one of the worst movies ever made. It is only eclipsed by the actual worst movie - The Jar. Acting is beyond horrible. Mannequins with synthesized voices would have more emotion displayed. The GodZone Ministries credit should have tipped me off that this would be super-low budget without any thought to displaying accurate, unbiased, information.

There are so many horrible oversights that is distracts from the already distracting poorly written script and emotionless acting. I wasn't alive in the '60s, but I'm sure Texas wasn't using registration and inspection stickers on the window back then. Especially ones from 2012.

I really am at a loss of words for how horrible this was. It will be a hard pass on anything with anyone associated with this for me if I should see them in something in the future.

Geesh.

I laughed through the whole thing
lbytesxk13 December 2020
This movie if you can call it that is so bad it's actually good. After about 5 minutes I thought about abandoning it but I thought it had potential. It had the potential to make laugh and it delivered. Acting so bad that I seriously doubt these were real actors and not some random people they found walking around Houston or Dallas. My favorite screen was the truck that had a registration sticker of April 2012 in a movie that supposedly took place in the 1960's. Way to go paying attention to small details. This "movie" was made by braindead idiots for braindead idiots. Enjoy

Wooden acting, cheap visuals and cinematography
2015 is the year when really bad movies started to be made. This is one of them. The audio portion sounds as if the movie was filmed on the cheap. There's a slight echo, as if the actors (I use the words loosely) are on a stage. The colors are not even remotely realistic. There are no vibrant green trees or deep blue skies; this is what a typical landscape would have looked like in 1960 in logging country. There are only muted, muddy tones. For all the viewer knows, it might be an early effort in making a moving with AI. This looks like an effort by a film student or someone who just graduated.

Big story or Big Headache
ellensweny6 June 2020
Oh brother, has absolutely no character, but what a story to screw up, i mean this family doesnt seem to fear the existence of the beast, they only seem to worry when evening comes and but finally something gets killed, so after 3 hogs they enlist friends but the very first night the men are telling tall tales drinking beer and she comes out , the church lady, and makes everyone leave, now that is so stupid, here theyve got eyewitnesses and help to rid the woods of the beast and shes worried about being able to go to church in the morning, still she continues to say all the time"what are we goinna do" he says"i dont know, lets go to bed" this scene plays out a few times, and he loses his nerve to shoot at it, OMG i just cant say how much to anyone who reads this far "DONT WASTE YOUR TIME'

Worth watching
patriotechcnc14 July 2021
The makers of this film managed to tell the story and keep it interesting, on a very low budget. They did a great job.

Just like the "scary" B-movies of old...
klbartley3 June 2019
Yes the acting and direction was bad - but so nostalgically so. What do I mean? It is filmed just like the B-movies from from the period they were depicting. The sets were right on for the period. The script, acting, directing and cinematography was so much like movies of the time that if didn't see the modern time scenes it would be hard to know that it wasn't filmed then. That actually would be a difficult thing to do today. For that reason, I assume it was all very intentional -- therefore I have to give major kudos to how well that was pulled off! Because of the nostalgia aspect I actually kind of enjoyed it. Sorry that seems missed by many reviewing. Oh well.

Something In the Woods DVD for Family viewing
phantomsladydy8 October 2016
This film is based on a real reported event from 1960's. It concerns the events that happens in the woods around a family farm. It starts with a young boy seeing a strange hairy creature…and escalates from there. The film depicts the family's fear as they are drawn closer and closer to the creature when it starts hanging around their home. This film should be of interest to many, as Bigfoot is a popular subject in the current era. This one is suitable for Family viewing---and children would be interested in finding the answer to what is going to happen once the creature begins coming around the family farm house. Is the creature just "curious" about the inhabitants of the home, or does it want to hurt them? You'll have to decide for yourself, but which ever it is---it's creepy! It opens your mind to the possibilities of what MIGHT exist out in the dark spooky woods! The ending was a nice touch! So if your interested in Bigfoot, then buy the DVD or rent it---you'll likely enjoy it!

Not bad for a low budget film
shaynkevin12228 October 2021
I went into this thinking it's gonna be bad cause of the low budget, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. The creature looked and sounded very good . The story was a bit slow at times but all in all I enjoyed it.

Mixture
Mischiefboi17 July 2023
Between Lifetime channel and Hallmark. A big clue would have been the God Zone ministry at the beginning. Like most people, I don't watch the beginning credits.

The outside of the house and yard kept changing. Which really drop me nuts. How many times can a bush grow in a 12 hour period. The house outside was small with a small porch. The house outside was big with an enclosed porch and shrubbery. Oh look, a fence that appeared between 2 scenes.

The wife drove me nuts. I didn't like her character at all.

He got up way too late in the morning to be working in lumber.

What was the drunk for?

90 minutes of my life that I will never get back

If you are a bigfoot believer this movie doesn't do your team any favors. The only thing that stinks more than a skunk-ape is a bad movie about one.
