Fun in its way

Heavily dependent on how much one enjoys Ashley Robinson's characterization, since each episode consists largely of her taking to the camera. Episodes vary; there's only so much one can get into four minutes, and strong familiarity with the TOS episodes is assumed. The humor is aimed at younger viewers, and tends toward caricature ... which is only to be expected really. Fun moments include cameos from some of the Star Trek Continues alumni, but more often from Red Shirt Diaries' own 'Uhura', who could probably stand to have her own show.

If it doesn't always seem quite as funny to me as it wants to be, that doesn't mean I didn't watch every episode -- I did (and many of the behind-the-scenes as well). None are boring and several are very strong. And while it is 30 episodes of comedy, Episode 29 (Operation Annihilate) dishes a surprisingly effective dramatic conclusion.

Recommended episodes: The Man Trap, The Enemy Within, Squire of Gothos, Operation Annihilate.
