Good Thing The Final Show Ended Up Better
jeremycrimsonfox20 July 2019
Yeah, this lost episode is basically the lost pilot to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, titled Day Of The Dumpster like the series premiere we got.

Basically, the plot is the same as the final product: Rita is freed by two astronauts, and the Power Rangers are formed. But this pilot has a lot of differences compared to the actual Day Of The Dumpster. One being Trini being played by a different actress (who was replaced because in a TMZ interview with Walter Jones, he said she was replaced for asking for more money (although it was back in 2013, and he said he think she asked for more money, meaning this claim may not be true). Also, they are in a bowling alley instead of the Angel Grove juice bar, Skull leads a gang and is more serious, Zordon is called Zoltar, as well as other changes.

My thoughts: For a pilot episode, it's not too bad, but it has some problems. As this is a pilot meant to be shown to networks to see if they are interested (as well as test if the splicing of Japanese stock footage with the filmed American footage will work), some things will not look right. The designs for Zoltar and Alpha 5 are basically horrible in this, and the aliens at Rita's command have different voice actors, each being a hit or miss (one voice I see as a miss is Finster's voice). Also, the morph sequence is low budget, with the teens calling out their dinosaur not sounding excited at all.

However, there are some good things. The pilot makes use of more Zyuranger footage, Zoltar actually explains about the time warp he is trapped in, and the use of King Sphinx (who is known here as Fly Guy) instead of Goldar. Thankfully, this is a pilot, and in the final product, a lot of stuff was changed for the better (like Alpha 5 being redone to be the Alpha 5 we know and love). But this pilot is still worth checking out, and can be found on YouTube.

Review tribute for the Green Ranger
ThunderKing64 December 2022
This review was originally written most likely on November the 23rd however it has not been posted by imdb.

The Power Rangers as a 90s kid was my first love. It was (at the time) the coolest thing ever) The Zords, the colours, monsters and the putties. Lets not forget The Green Ranger. The original 5 were cool. Green Ranger helped make them better. Plus 6 is my favourite number.

Anyways... before the series actually began with The Trang as the Yellow Ranger, there was a pilot episode that I only seen just a few days ago.

Read the review and see what I thought about it.

About: A pilot episode from a group of teenagers with attitude. Rita escapes and Not Zordon summons these 5 to take down Rita and her flock before she conquers earth,

Story and Production: The story was really simple. Rita escapes, summon teenagers, they fight, they win they become the Power Rangers.

Production of this episode was distressing. The flow was horrible. The acting was as bad as a noobmaster. Not Zordon CGI was bad. Alpha looked like a cardboard box. Zack was going to be a jerk. Yellow Ranger... There were many goofs such as Not Goldar fighting the Power Rangers in one scene, then when the monster goes big it's an entirely different monster. The morphing scene was horrible... Lastly, it was a rushed mess. If this came out today, it would not get a pass.

Highlight: finally seeing the original Yellow Ranger in action.

Intelligence Rating: 8

Do any worthless mutts appear?: No

Was this Episode Worthy?: Not at all. The official first episode was way way way way way better.

Should you watch this?: No.

No Green Ranger in this one but I would only watch it if you were a 90s child that grew up with the original Power Rangers and have not seen this episode, then yes please watch.

Please watch this episode once.
