The Greenies Review
amp7920017 May 2023
I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between the main characters in the beginning of the film. It was very natural as if they truly were best friends or even siblings. The location was very beautiful and added to the story itself and in my being invested in watching this film.

This is an interesting concept for a film, and I appreciated the narration aspect in it as well. I thought the movie was well written with the story being clearly told and nothing "lost in translation."

The acting was not overdone, and I felt the appropriate emotions came through for what was being portrayed. This is a good short film!

Greenies is a fun, playful short.

I ejoyed Greenies. I liked the concept and implimentation. It reminded me of things from my youth which I found to be a good thing. Not comparing by no means but also gave "It" vibes to me in a small way. It was a fun little story. It was written well in my humble opinion. I took it for what I thought it was and allowed myself to be entertained.

If you approach it like you're a film critic ... then you probably will be approaching it wrong. It was a little too short would be one flaw in my opinion.

Overall, I gave it a 10 out of 10 simply based on the fact I did enjoy it. It's certainly worth a viewing.

Suspenseful mystery short

I loved the score for this film. It is the stereotypical set up of teens daring each other to brave the fear of the unknown, but it does a good job building the suspense of what is really in the woods. I wish it elaborated a little more on what the Greenies are, although it gave the vibe of Big Foot. I'm all about symbolism in film, but I was curious about the meaning of the teen holding the yellow rose. Some nice, crisp filming, but I would have liked to hear more about the full legend of the Greenies. I don't know if the title was a play on The Goonies from the 80s, but I liked the title. All in all, a pretty solid short film.

Warning: Spoilers
Hello..... this short is just plain fun. It brought me back to my youth in Florida Everglades when we went into the woods looking alligator man or the swamp fairies. The score and sound effects really sell it. The two young actors did such a great job. Frankly, everyone did a really great job. I wish we got more of the origin story of The Greenies especially from young Hooper's perspective. Why do they leave behind green slime?????? Did I miss something?? Other than that, I really enjoyed this short glimpse into this world created by Willy Adkins. This one could easily be transformed into a feature one day. STAY FOR THE END OF THE CREDITS.

Terror in the Woods

Director Willy Adkins brings us "The Greenies," a thrilling short film. When two adventurous, bored teenagers venture into the woods in search of the local legend known as the Greenies, they soon realize that the truth is far more terrifying than the myth itself. Despite its short 10-minute duration, "The Greenies" plays out like a full-length movie, thanks to its two young leads who impressively convey their characters' emotions through a well-written script. The film's beautifully photographed forest scenes create an atmosphere of fear, making you believe that these Greenies could appear at any moment. The carefully lensed action immediately draws you in. The climax is riveting, and watch closely for a cameo by filmmaker Derek Braasch, who leaves a lasting impression. This performance has us eagerly calling his agent for a lead role in our next feature. Make sure to stay for a cool after-credits scene. "The Greenies" is highly recommended for its all-around entertainment, and with a runtime of just 10 minutes, it's a must-watch. Directed by Willy Adkins and starring Patrick Mallin, Katelyn Lane, Mykal Rodriguez, Lily Tomei, and Derek Braasch.
