In its initial French television broadcast, the film was immediately followed by an hour-long debate on autism entitled "Autisme: Le Combat des Familles" ("Autism: The Family Struggle"), hosted by Julian Bugier and featuring lead actor Bernard Campan alongside several specialists and witnesses.
Although the character names were changed, the film is based on a true story. As such Christophe is based on actor Francis Perrin, Séverine on his wife Gersende Dufromentel and Tom on their son Louis Perrin, who appears in the film.
Was only broadcast in France nearly a year and a half after filming ended and some 7 months after airing in Switzerland.
