- Quotes
Starlight Glimmer: Up for another race-ending fight, Twilight?
Twilight Sparkle: No, you were right. I can't stop you.
[Starlight fires a beam at her and she quickly blocks it with a barrier]
Twilight Sparkle: But you can't stop me from trying. And we could be stuck doing this for all eternity.
Starlight Glimmer: If that's what it takes to keep you and your friends from getting your cutie mark connection, then I'm game!
[Fires another beam at Twilight, which she blocks again]
Twilight Sparkle: What you're doing goes way beyond cutie marks.
[Forms clouds into a snowball rolling down a hill towards a house]
Twilight Sparkle: Everything we do here in the past, even the smallest change, can snowball into an avalanche of trouble for the future!
Starlight Glimmer: [Fires a beam at the piece of cloud] Oh, next I suppose you'll tell me that the fate of all of Equestria hangs in the balance...
Twilight Sparkle: It does!
Starlight Glimmer: Spare me your overblown ego! No group of friends, not even Princess Twilight's, is that important!
[Fires a beam at young Rainbow Dash, again messing up her big race, then the time portal opens again]
Twilight Sparkle: I don't know how important other ponies' friendships are to the future, but I can show you what the world is like without mine!
[Flies over to her and grabs her and quickly goes up into the portal to the present time with her, which this time is a barren dusty wasteland]

Part 2 of "The Cutie Re-Mark" is very nearly as good as Part 1 and is also very good. There have been times where the second part for the 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' two parters (both premieres and finales) has been a little better than the first part, but "The Cutie Re-Mark" is a case where the first part was superior. Namely because the second part contains the two parter's biggest flaw, the one that has garnered division amongst fans.
Is it perfect again? No. Its biggest flaw is the Achilles heel of the whole "The Cutie Re-Mark" two parter. Some people like, or do like, the ending, for me the last ten minutes were incredibly rushed and the outcome out of the blue and anti-climactic. Just didn't find it buyable that an episode that was that dark beforehand could end so neatly and felt so much like it belonged in another episode that was tonally different to here.
Again, the pace is a bit quick and like there was a little too much going on at times.
On the other hand, Twilight is much better written in this second part. More herself and less oblivious to what is going on with Starlight. Her chemistry with Starlight shines a lot more too, namely because there is more of it and it has real tension this time. Starlight continues to be the psychologically fascinating antagonist introduced in the Season 5 premiere and is every bit as menacing.
The vibrancy of the colours is still intact, as is the vivid atmosphere and the meticulously detailed backgrounds. The character designs became more polished with each season and one can see the growth here. The music is dynamic with the action and has an infectious groove and atmosphere. The song is great and is a worthy addition for a season somewhat starved of original songs. The writing is mature and thought provoking, with the very psychological and chillingly manipulative dialogue for Starlight Glimmer standing out.
A couple of issues aside, actually the story is very compelling and it continues to be the darkest and most ambitious of the three finale two parters at this point of the show and perhaps the darkest and most ambitious two parter in the show's run. Dark because of Starlight Glimmer and her plan, and ambitious because of everything to do with the alternate future universes, which really fascinates and wows. The voice acting is excellent all round, especially from Kelly Sheridan.
Concluding, very well done finale. 8/10
