No. But I'll say yes just to keep hope alive.

Ash (and the team) vs Evil Dead vs The Rednecks (or those extras that will last for five seconds and are not very bright). That's how this episode should have be titled.

Ash and his acolytes go in search for Lem to get some fire power against the deadites without knowing that Lem is having some kind of self-discovering as a newborn deadite. When they get to Lem's place, all the other militia men are not very happy to see them, as Lem has been cleaning the place. The militia decides that Ash and his team are the ones behind Lem's state and that they work for Big Brother (not helped by one of them remembering that Amanda is a cop). So we get Kelly and Pablo on the run and Ash and Amanda getting to know each other more intimately.

The episode is fun, and having Ash and Amanda handcuffed together and thrown into a basement with Lem makes for some funny moments (and quite cool action). Both couples have great..., I meant gory, moments and even if the possibilities are not fully exploded, you will have a nice dose of deadites for the week. On the down side, a couple of dialogues are a little bit insubstantial.

And the end of the episode sets things up for an awesome showdown that I just hope becomes real, and that will make every fan travel in time.

"Oh honey bunny, I would destroy you in the best possible way."

As Ruby reappears out of the ashes of a fire (in the nude, no less), the rest of the main cast arrives at the encampment of a militia. In the previous episode, Ash had learned that his old friend Lem (Peter Feeney, the older brother from the Kiwi horror comedy "Black Sheep") had joined this group. So Ash figures that this would be a good place to stock up on weapons. But Lem, now turned into a Deadite, wreaks utter havoc, and for a while, our heroes have to battle the militia while the war with Evil rages on.

This episode is noteworthy for suggesting possible future romantic hook-ups: Pablo and Kelly, Ash and Amanda. To this end, it's rather appealing - and funny, as the incorrigible Ash believes that there's no such thing as a bad time to hit on a woman. Most of the fighting is done with the survivalists this time around, even as the possessed Lem arrives and starts raising Hell. This allows for some wonderful, delicious bloodshed, and again, more humour, as Pablo must steel himself to don the costume of a dead member who'd become possessed. He also tries to figure out what weapon could possibly be *his* trademark.

It's really nice seeing the gang start to really come together, and the actors are all tremendous fun. Bruce Campbell, as usual, tends to get the best lines, but Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and Jill Marie Jones all have their moments as well. It's also a joy to see Ash and Amanda work together to both battle Lem and attempt to escape while handcuffed to each other.

Overall, a solid episode, one that continues to keep this viewer anticipating the next instalment.

It was almost great

Warning: Spoilers
Fun episode tainted by at times incredibly stupid dialogue and nonsensical uncharacteristic character actions just to drive the plot to next set piece.

I don't understand the detective character at all. Her motivations and actions are all over the place and she has the worst written dialogue out of all main characters. She has ongoing investigation on Ash with a ton of clues and she throws it all away after diner massacre, which was obviously caused by Ashes presence and she doesn't question anything at all. She takes Lucy Lawless character at face value even tho she acts obviously suspiciously in every scene she's in. Viewer is ware from the first moment that something is off about her, but the detective character doesn't notice anything and is even thankful that she was always honest with her?!? And her plan after seeing pickaxe in the bunker is not smash the tiny lock with it and escape, but to lure pyromaniac zombie with a ton of flammables right to their dead end location. I understand that it was a setup for fight scene, but it could have been done in thousand other ways that don't make the detective look totally incompetent. And they do that to her all the time expect the first Sam Rami episode. She had such a great start in the show.

All other characters are written really well, their behaviour consistent trough episodes and their dialogue is okay to great with some exceptions.

Ash vs Rednecks
The-Social-Introvert30 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Before I start my short review I'd just like to point out that the crappy CGI effects in this show are really getting tiresome. I mean, there's one random shot of a cartoon deer that is so unnecessary it makes you wonder just why it's even in the show.

The troublesome three search for Ash's friend Lem in the woods to get some firepower in their war against the deadites. Unbeknownst to them, Lem has become one himself. Unfortunately they get captured by a bunch of redneck hick "soldiers" who are all too trigger happy now that half their camp and men have been torn up by the abomination version of Lem. Ash and Amanda are handcuffed and thrown into an underground bunker by the militia to fend off Lem whilst Pablo and Kelly go on the run from the rednecks.

The episode is pretty enjoyable. Pablo and Kelly's segments are fun and the scenes in the bunker expand on the chemistry between Ash and Amanda and provide some decent action. Though yet again we are shown that the deadites are slow and weak when the script. Plus some of the dialogue was a bit hokey and you'd think A & A would find a better time to start getting freaky with each other

Another step in the right direction.

Mid-season, and Ash vs Evil Dead looked as though it had hit a serious slump from which it might not recover, but director Michael Hurst successfully brought the series back on track with episode six, and delivers another satisfying helping of gore with Fire In The Hole. It takes a while to get to the bloody stuff, but once it starts, episode seven is a rollercoaster ride of blood and guts that is bound to please fans of all things Evil Dead.

This episode sees Ash, Kelly, Pablo and Amanda arrive at a survivalist camp in the woods where they are suspected of being government spies. The survivalists prove to be the least of their problems when Ash's old pal Lem (Peter Feeney) becomes a deadite. Pablo and Kelly fight for their lives in the woods while Ash and Amanda are trapped in a bunker with Lem. Once again, Hurst handles the splattery fight scenes with aplomb, making this one very enjoyable indeed.

Couples
Mr-Fusion14 October 2016
'Fire in the Hole' pits the gang against a group of militant survivalists, and then separates them: Kelly and Pablo, Ash and Amanda. The chemistry between Santiago and DeLorenzo is what made their segment really pop (plus, it's just a matter of time before something happens beteen Kelly and Pablo), and that's less so for the other two.

This is mostly just planting the seeds for possible romantic entanglements down the road. The humor works (thanks to Kelly's gun jokes and Ash's cheap moves), but the rednecks were useless and it mostly just feels like a pit stop on the way to the cabin.

Getting better

Warning: Spoilers
A slightly better episode than the last three. The return to the woodland setting is a nice fit and a link with the original movies. The redneck characters make for fun cannon fodder and there's a wealth of one-liners and character interplay to be had.
