‘God’s Not Dead': Fifth Installment in the Works at Pure Flix and Pinnacle Peak Pictures (Exclusive)
A fifth film in the “God’s Not Dead” franchise is officially a go at Pure Flix and Pinnacle Peak Pictures.
“God’s Not Dead” is slated to release in 2023, almost a decade after the first film premiered and two years after the most recent chapter debuted.
The newest installment in the popular Christian drama series will once again take place in the world of politics. According to the official description, the plot kicks off when a favored incumbent suddenly suspends his candidacy for Congress, an embittered but brilliant campaign strategist is lured out of retirement and convinces Reverend Dave Hill to run for office. The race pits them both against formidable opponents from their past, each with plans to inexorably remove religion’s influence on public policy. Set against a backdrop of unprecedented political, civil and spiritual unrest, Dave struggles to answer an increasingly relevant question of our time: Is God dead in American politics?...

Directed by Sean McNamara from a screenplay by Brian Egeston, “On a Wing and a Prayer” is currently in production and slated for release on Aug. 31, 2022.

In 2014, the Christian film God’s Not Dead hit theaters and it did pretty well at the box office. With a production budget of $2 million, the film gained $64 million worldwide. The movie is about a Christian student has to prove that God’s not dead after he refuses to acknowledge the statement for his professor. Two more sequels were made following the predecessor: God’s Not Dead 2 and God’s Not Dead’s: A Light in Darkness. Another sequel, God’s Not Dead: We The People, is set to be released in October. Before moving forward, I want to be clear that

Disney's Dumbo was unable to reach studio or industry expectations, but still managed a #1 finish, making for the third different #1 film at the domestic weekend box office in as many weeks. Meanwhile holdovers such as Us and Captain Marvel continued their strong performances and Pure Flix's release of the anti-abortion drama Unplanned managed to out-perform expectations and find itself a spot in the top five. With an estimated $45 million, Disney's Dumbo topped the weekend box office though fell short of the studio's $50+ million expectations and well short of what some thought would be a $60+ million debut. While the performance is well ahead of select, recent Disney releases such as Christopher Robin ($24.6m opening), Alice Through the Looking Glass ($26.9m opening) and Pete's Dragon ($21.5m opening), it's well short of films such as Cinderella ($67.9 million opening), which online ticket retailer Fandango.com reported Dumbo was outpacing in advance ticket sales.

Best described as an unbalanced sample platter of vapid conservative beliefs, Harold Cronk’s “God Bless the Broken Road” is not concerned with disputing any of the preconceived notions coastal dwellers may have about Middle America, but rather leans into them shamelessly for a Christian drama squarely aimed at women and veterans.
Seemingly inspired by the eponymous song originally released by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1994 and further popularized thanks to country group Rascal Flatts in 2005, the faith-based narrative is the latest cash cow from the team that unleashed the vitriolic, Islamophobic and generally disturbing “God’s Not Dead” franchise. Both the original “God’s Not Dead” and its sequel were directed and co-written by Cronk and became bastions of Evangelical propaganda with combined box-offices grosses of over $80 million. He was, however, not directly involved with this year’s much less successful third installment.

In 2014, faith-based films made headlines at the U.S. box office, prompting pundits to declare it the "Year of the Bible." God's Not Dead, for example, earned $61.7 million against a $2 million budget, while Heaven is for Real soared to $91.4 million against a $12 million budget.
Film companies responded by flooding the market with faith-based titles, but the results were decidedly mixed between 2015 and 2017. God's Not Dead 2 topped out at $20.8 million domestically in spring of 2016, 66 percent less than the first movie.

Weekend Preview:The final, R-rated, impale-happy, Hugh Jackman-cussing Wolverine film, Logan hits 4,071 theaters this weekend and Fox's guidance is $60 million. The studio is pulling its punches (or adamantium claws) though as that means they think it's heading for $14.7K per screen average. In a weekend where its competition is the well-reviewed holdover Get Out, the Groundhog Day Ya film, Before I Fall, and Lionsgate/Summit's faith-based film, The Shack, Logan's prospects seem better than that.Since moving out of the X-Men Academy to make it on his own Wolverine has had solid commercial, if not always critical, success. The first outing, 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine may have made $85 million its opening weekend (in 4,099 theaters for a psa of $20.8K) but it had a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, a 6.7 on IMDb, a B+ on CinemaScore and nearly knee-capped the Deadpool character for all time. It ended up with $173 million domestic, $193 million...

It's been two years since Robin Givens' sister, Stephanie, suddenly died from an aggressive form of breast cancer. And now the actress is finally ready to open up about her painful loss. "My sister was my very best friend in the world," Givens, 51, tells People. "Her passing was a shock. I had someone describe it to me like losing somebody in a car accident. I was so devastated." Although Stephanie wasn't feeling well, Givens said she "didn't look sick at all," and when she went to the doctor, they told her it was probably just the flu and to return the next week.

New York (AP) -- The Walt Disney Co.'s "The Jungle Book" opened with $103.6 million in North America, making it one of the biggest April debuts ever at the box office and continuing the studio's streak of unearthing live-action riches buried in its animated classics.
Jon Favreau's update of Disney's 1967 animated version of Rudyard Kipling's book tells the tale of Mowgli with computer-generated imagery and big-screen bombast. A sizable 42 percent of the film's domestic sales came from 3-D and premium-format screens.
"The Jungle Book" is just the latest of Disney's string of live-action remakes of classic cartoons ("Cinderella," ''Alice in Wonderland," ''Maleficent"), most of which have fared well at the box office. More plundering of the Disney library is in the works: "Cruella De Ville" and "Peter Pan" are in development; "Beauty and the Beast" is scheduled for next March.

Last weekend the top twelve at the domestic box office was down 24.3% when compared to last year. In fact, it was the first time since 2008 that the top twelve films at the box office failed to top $100 million in the 15th weekend of the year. This weekend won't have any such issues with Disney's The Jungle Book looking to become one of the top five April openings of all-time. Additionally, Warners' Barbershop: The Next Cut should deliver the largest opening that franchise has seen while Lionsgate's Criminal will likely finish just outside the top five. Disney has tapped into something special when it comes to adapting some of their most iconic animated movies into live action features in recent years. Last year's Cinderella opened with $67.8 million in mid-March, the year before Maleficent opened with $69.4 million and, in 2010, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland opened with an astonishing $116.1 million before grossing over $1 billion worldwide.

Last weekend Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice saw a 69% second weekend drop in the face of no new competition from the major studios, yet it still retained the #1 position at the box office by a wide margin. This week the superhero slugfest may have a tougher fight on its hands as Melissa McCarthy enters the ring with her newest comedy The Boss. Meanwhile, Stx is targeting the attention of gamers with the intense, first person actioner Hardcore Henry and Fox Searchlight has bumped up the release of Demolition from an estimated 550 theaters to over 850 theaters this weekend. At the top, Batman v Superman is hoping to bounce back this weekend. In an attempt to determine what that may look like, the first number to consider is the average, 47.5% drop for film's in their third weekend that opened in over 3,700 theaters and scored a "B" CinemaScore. Spare a moment's pity for Batman and Superman.
They may be two of the most beloved superheroes in superherodom, and their movie opened huge last week, launching the DC Extended Universe mega-franchise that will (hopefully) be Warner Bros.' golden spigot for at least the next five years. But all anyone can talk about this weekend is the steep second-weekend drop for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
Sure, "BvS" stayed in the top spot for its second straight weekend, earning $51.8 million. But that figure represents a huge plunge of 69 percent from last weekend's debut. It's the fifth largest second-weekend drop ever for a blockbuster that enjoyed a debut above $100 million.
What does that plunge mean? Did moviegoer sentiment catch up to the critics, who made "BvS" one of the worst-reviewed blockbusters in recent memory? Is the $250 million movie going to lose money for the studio? Are the rest of Warners' Dceu plans in trouble?...

Los Angeles (AP) -- Word of mouth might be kryptonite for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which fell a steep 68 percent in its second weekend in theaters according to studio estimates Sunday. The superhero pic earned an estimated $52.4 million, bringing its domestic total to $261.5 million.
Superhero movies are generally frontloaded at the box office, but this is on the higher end of second week drops.
It still easily took first place again, crushing new openers like Pure Flix's faith-based sequel "God's Not Dead 2," which opened in fourth with $8.1 million, and Freestyle Releasing's "The Purge" parody, "Meet the Blacks," which earned only $4.1 million.
Second and third place spots, meanwhile, went to holdovers "Zootopia" with $20 million and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" with $11.1 million.

The steep second weekend drop suffered by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will receive the bulk of attention this week and rightfully so as it is the fifth largest second weekend drop for a film that opened over $100 million. That said, the superhero feature maintained the #1 position and has now crossed $680 million worldwide. Meanwhile, Disney's Zootopia continued its impressive run while the weekend's widest new release, God's Not Dead 2, fell well short of its predecessor. Heading into the weekend, it appeared Batman v Superman was looking at a drop anywhere from 58-68% and it ended up settling in on the wrong side of those expectations. The film's estimated $52.3 million signifies a 68.4% drop (62.1% if you take into consideration its $27.7 million in Thursday previews last week). This is the fifth largest drop of all-time for a film opening over $100 million, topped only by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2's...
