Darla Crane is wondrous; this feature is terrible
Much porn (and unfortunately recent mainstream movies too) seems to have been written on the back of an envelope, rather than developed as a rich, carefully crafted screenplay. Such is the case with the pair of "Reincarnation of Betty Paige" features, misguided attempts to cash in on the enduring cult following generated by the namesake '50s fetish model.
I am put in an awkward position here, in that I idolize the current actress Darla Crane (herself a fetish star 20 years ago) who is cast as Bettie's disciple. I've never been attracted to the original - I recognize her place in history but find her unappealing. I grew up in the '60s and was more attracted to bombastic models, with Anita Ekberg and '50s pin-up Greta Thyssen more my speed -big upfront just like Darla.
In any event, the two features shot a decade or so ago, have negligible content. It's as if once the central concept (and title) were concocted and Crane was cast in the title role that phony baloney filmmaker "Roman Pornanski" decided to go all- sex rather than create a storyline. I looked forward to watching this pair, but got literally nothing out of the experience.
Darla as Betty Paige is a fetish model and we see her posing in fetish-gear: latex, corset, fishnet stockings, the works. Five XXX sex scenes are delivered but nothing of interest happens. Time is killed by her driving around in a beautiful Caddy convertible; bribing a photo lab guy with sex to rush her order; humping Guy DiSilva and another mechanic to get her car fixed; her BFF played by the stunning Ryan Conner likewise having sex by the pool with DiSilva when car is delivered; lesbian sex with Tanya Danielle at her photo shoot; and finally a threesome including Amber Michaels in which Darla gets to revive her famous spanking techniques previously displayed in countless BDSM fetish videos.
At the end of this no-plot wonder, we hear "Okay, that's a wrap" as the final line, and another junker is completed. The second video made three years later plays more like a remake than a sequel, probably because with no storyline to begin with, it's rather pointless to "continue the storyline".
